Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon Book List
« on: July 14, 2010, 06:38:44 PM »
See, I thought it would take him a LOT longer, because I was talking to one of my friends who had e-mailed that last April. She still hadn't gotten a response. Hence why I shot the request over to Peter as well....I was desperate to get my hands on it fast. If I'd known it would only take him 12 days to get back to me, I wouldn't have asked Peter.

Trade you.

Tempting...Very tempting. Can we get Peter's sanction on this? It's only for my conscience's sake. It feels guilty passing around another writer's work without that writer's knowledge....:P

Brandon Sanderson / Re: The Paolini Takedown Challenge
« on: July 14, 2010, 06:25:31 PM »
Similar problem here. Most of the people I know who read fantasy have already read him, either by request of me or my dad. Only exception is my sister, who I'm not sure why she's ignored our suggestions... Perhaps that can be my challenge. To convince her to read him. Won't have any affect on the over-all challenge, but then again, I have never bought a Paolini book in my life, and neither has anyone in my family, so...yeah.

He seemed pretty on top of things last year. I e-mailed him in early June. I think...asking for Scribbler, and he sent it to me less than two weeks later...of course, before he sent it to me, I'd thought it would take longer and so I asked Peter, and he sent it to me the next day...

And dang, Scribbler was fantastic.

I really should ask for White Sand. Hmm....

I should convert, then go on a mission to get an ARC ;) Though, that would be going a long way to get an ARC.

And I'm fairly certain you wouldn't have it before August 31st....But that's just a minor detail.

I really hope Scribbler is next year. I loved that one. Immensely. And I really want to co-ref a certain duel that will take place....:)

He really should stop in Texas, like he mentioned during the TGS tour we all have guns.... ;)

I noticed somewhere that he's told Tor to send him to Texas for the ToM tour.  I can't remember where though.  Maybe on this thread. Or maybe Peter mentioned something somewhere....I don't know. All I know is that I heard something about going to Texas for the ToM tour...Yes. I am a wealth of information. :P

Movies and TV / Re: The Star Wars Kid comes to the big screen?

I'm with you, Jexral. I want to see it too, but I know there's a good chance that it'll fall short. Although, from what I've seen in the trailers, I think it looks like it could be pretty good. Even if Shyamalan hasn't had an actual good movie for more than a couple of years.

I'm hoping this one will be good. Perhaps I'll be right, perhaps I'll be wrong. I guess we'll see.

Movies and TV / Toy Story 3 *Spoilers*
« on: June 19, 2010, 11:10:41 PM »
So who's seen it? Did you like it? Because I loved it. I'm almost wanting to say it was better than the first two, and yet the first two were just so good that I'm not sure I want to say it beats them. Yet it definitely equaled their greatness.

I loved the references to the first two. Especially the beginning, because that referenced the first movie so freaking much. The whole banditry thing, and the force field dog and my dinosaur eats your force field dog stuff. It was funny.

I thought it had just the right combination of humor and emotion. I laughed, and I cried--mostly right at the end. Please note that this wasn't bawling. It was more tearing up than crying, and I tend to tear up a decent amount at movies, but whatever. Wasn't exactly expecting to do that in a Toy Story movie.

Also: spanish Buzz Lightyear. Hilarious. And I loved that they had 'You've Got a Friend In Me' as the song at the beginning of the end credits just like in 1. In spanish. I almost didn't recognize it at first and then I'm like "Wait! AH!" Awesome.

It was predictable, but then, this is Disney. Disney tends to be predictable, and it was predictable in a good, and more than relatively obvious, way. I mean, I totally called that phone traitor, the donation to Bonnie (loved her!), and the Andy playing with Bonnie scene at the end. As a little side-note, my friend leaned over at that point and said, "She's going to have the biggest crush on him for so long." And I agree. Poor little fictional girl.

All-in-all, I thought it was great. What say all of you?

Comatose, I remember fondly my days as an Absolver. I probably shouldn't remember them fondly, as I was accused of being corrupt be people with theoretical veggie wielding armies of paparazzi, intent on finding and exposing my corruptness, but oh well. I still remember them fondly....

My days as a Clinic Worker, however, I do not. I barely remember them at all. :'(

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Way of Kings release date change?
« on: June 09, 2010, 12:18:09 AM »
Wow. Just noticed this on Facebook and had to come here to read more about it.

So due to the change of date, there is an extremely good chance that I'll be able to attend. This is good news. For me, anyway. Was that duel still being planned? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're not in the "know". Those who know, know. :P ). My interest in co-reffing is still there, if it is (still being planned).

As of 9:54 this morning, I am an aunt. And my niece is freaking adorable. Sure, she has a skull the shape of those on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but oh well. Her face isn't deformed at all, and it is cute. I love her already, and I will spoil her greatly, because that is what aunts do. Sometimes.

Gotta love the way ward members pitch in when someone's moving. Makes the whole process go so much faster.

You saw Phantom in London?

Yes. Last year. It was amazing.

Wicked was phenomenal. I adored it. A lot. We were on the front row, just right of the middle aisle, so extremely close. Close enough to see the spit fly out of the actors' mouths when they got a little too excited in their talking. Or singing....Also, before it, we ate at this really cool place called Frjtz that has Belgian fries. And they were the best fries I've ever had in my life. The sweet crepe I got was pretty delicious too. That place has made it onto the must-go-to list for every time in the future I'm in San Fran.

So my birthday is in two days. And my aunt invited me to come with her to watch Wicked in San Francisco. I'm really excited! I love the music, and from what I've heard, the musical is fantastic. Plus, San Fran is where it originated. So this will be the second musical I've seen in the originating city (the first being Phantom of the Opera).
