I remember Brandon saying the main characters would be Mistings, but if there is Lerasium kicking around still I guess Mistborn are a possibility?

I think that you have to have a physical body to take possession of either ruin/preservation. All the examples we have seen of people gaining control of the power have had bodies. Also, the fact that Ruin was searching for his body (atium) supports the importance of the physical realm.

Ati and Leras were other people who merged with Chaos/Preservation, like Vin eventually merged with Preservation. This was discussed in the super long HOA thread. But interesting questions about shards...why two there?
