Brandon Sanderson / Re: If Mistborn was a movie. . . .
« on: November 24, 2008, 10:11:17 AM »
I've never seen Summer Glau (who seems to be the top pick for Vin) in action, but what about Stephanie Leonidas? She's still a little on the old side (24, I think), but she looks young for her age, and I think she did a good job in Mirrormask (where, incidentally, she played a 15-year-old).

I think you are dead on.

David Tennant would be my choice for Kelsier. Wiki's Pic is better.
Marsh: Hugh Jackman! Looks close enough to Tennant to be an older brother, and a perfect role for him.
Dox to me was always a very tired Jackie Chan.
Russel Crowe was Ham in my reading.
Shan Elariel: Cobie Smulders.
Sazed: Wayne Brady.
TLR: Morgan frickin' Freeman.
Zane: a younger Hugh Grant.
Yeden: Hugh Laurie. (I think I have employed half of film's Hughs in this casting. It is disturbing to me.)
Renoux: Pierce Brosnan.
Clubs: If only Fred Astaire were alive... I suppose Woody Allen would do in a pinch.

Lots of these roles would be very different from what the actors are used to doing, but visually it's spot on to me. Plus I see a lot of potential in Wayne Brady as a dramatic actor.

Did I totally misread the books in casting Terrismen as black people?

EDIT: Fixed Fred's link. Also, I totally didn't notice Morgan Freeman above as a choice for Sazed. It just occurred to me that he has played god before (Bruce Almighty), so TLR wouldn't be totally new turf.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: What MB character are you and why?

Breeze. When I read the third book, I was like, "But Brandon hadn't met me when he submitted this book! How did he get me down so accurately?" The answer came to me one day while looking over some bushes into Brandon's living room.

I really wonder where Breeze turned out to be such a nice guy. Nobody knew, but he's the reason they succeeded!

I would love to be Sazed as well. Being able to float using Feruchemy would be sweet.

Ack! The thread exploded when I went to dinner!

You mean you've been asking other girls?!?!  :o

I never said that I'd proposed to other women before. I merely said I had yet to be accepted. It makes me sound like an oft-rejected playboy and all-around awesome guy! (Or I was allowing for the possibility that your response was not an acceptance.) To be honest, I wasn't even looking to get married until it just slipped out. That is the power of my love. I couldn't be unfaithful to you, my [insert rhyming lovey-dovey nickname here].

An RP would be fabulous! Let us begin at once! I mean... all at once! So we'll all be there at the same time!

Uhh... I freehanded this on my friend's face on Halloween morning. He wasn't willing to shave off his hairs, though, so I apologize for slight inaccuracies plot-wise. (Does this even count as fan art? I'm too lazy to create a thread for fan anti-art, so you'd better make room. Or I will cry.)

I am aware that mking puts my work to shame, but I just wanted to share. If I ever get around to taking pictures of my mistcloak, I'll upload them as well.

That's a little harsh. Have you been to Japan? I lived there for two years and it was amazing. They were the nicest people I've ever met. Helluva lot nicer than American's as a whole.

I'll admit that it did come off a bit harsh, but I've lived with Japanese people stateside. About two and a half years worth in total. At one point with seven different Japanese guys. Their culture is radically different from ours. I loved the guys I lived with. They were all awesome people, but the culture is an extreme change from what we are used to. I was poking fun at the culture->music->Generous Knight's music tastes.  :-/

Sorry about that. I should have made it more clear. Perhaps through the use of an adeptly placed emoticon... Yes, an emoticon would work quite well....

I've never had anyone accept before, so this is new territory for both of us.

Maybe I was a bit quick to propose. Perhaps we should go to a coffee shop and talk over a cup and some pastries before the ceremony. Then we'll go to the church.  ;) :shifty eyes  :D

This is lovely! I should have gotten married ages ago!

And may I be the first to say that you will most likely be worshiped here. I'm going to guess that at least half of the members of any writing group are anglophiles.

Also, British people are hot. Will you marry me?

Yay for JPop!  I'm a big fan of Ayumi, Utada Hikaru, and I've enjoyed what I've heard of BoA.

Whaaaaaa? BoA? Jpop? Please look to the northwest a bit. To that glorious country that brought us Epik High, Clazziquai, Big Bang, and Rain! Japanese people scare me immensely.  Some of the music is okay, but the culture is an frightening beast. I don't know what happened to the Japanese when they migrated off the mainland, but they make Chinese people look sane. ;)

The Toasters are awesome! My HS band teacher was a huge fan of Second/Third Wave, so we listened to stuff like the Allstonians quite often. We even played "Bumblebee Tuna" by Mephiskapheles in pep band!

Ach, now I'm listening to The Toasters and Epik High in one playlist! The weird, it won't wash off!

Not that you would ever give us an ultimatum, or anything like that. ::)

Me? Never!

Thank you!  ;D

Hello, my internet name is sortitus. Titus is my real name, so you can choose which to call me.

My writing history begins in 3rd and 4th grade, when a friend and I collaborated on a series of novels in a sci-fi setting. I've lost all but about 10 pages of my writing from the books, which is a shame since it's HORRIBLE! I really wish I had some of my friend's writing, but I left that school unexpectedly and he had all of the manuscripts. All I have is pages I was working on at the time.  :'(

In 5th grade I got interested in poetry, where I spent my time until 7th. In 7th grade I had the best English teacher in the world. She got me into short stories and reinforced my interest in sci-fi/fantasy. My HS teachers sucked enough to actually diminish my skill in writing, and I actually stopped writing for a few years. My 9th grade year I had the idea for a novel, but wrote two pages and scrapped it. I wrote a bit of poetry my senior year with a friend, which got me back into writing.

My college writing experience so far has been good, though I haven't taken any English classes. I have continued writing poetry, and have some posted at my deviantart. Listening to Writing Excuses made me a bit nostalgic for the good old days in prose, so here I am, writing a novel for NaNoWriMo and considering two short stories for after it's over.

Reading-wise I am pretty inexperienced compared to a lot of my friends but I get most of the references people throw down. I'm cool like that. Writers on my list to read: David Farland and Michael Moorcock come to mind, though there are many others. :\

I'm not sure how good my writing is, as I rarely share it with anyone. Often I actually destroy what I've written, which makes it hard to tell if I ever had any skill at all...

Hi. I'm sortitus. The one and only. Yes, I do come off a bit egocentric online, but only until you meet me in person. Then you know how much I tone it down online. :) No, I'm just kidding, but I do come off pretty serious and stuff. Just remember that I'm probably joking if I sound serious.

I'm approximately 20.44 years old, and going to college. I'm currently a Communications major, but I may switch to (or add!) English or Theatre. I really love to read, like all of you. I'm pretty crappy at writing fiction, but I'm working on it. I like to philosophize and conceptualize, but my follow-through sucks. Other than that, MANIPULATE!

That's me. I'm likely to throw down stuff for shock value, so beware.  :|

On another note, f1rst p0st!
