A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. The main thing I remember from CoT is that it seemed like half the book was just various groups of channelers staring off into the distance with dropped jaws and saying something to the effect of "Holy **** that's a lot of power!"

Elayne, Min, and Aviendha all bonded with Rand. I'm surprised he actually let them do this, seeing as he is destined to die and anyone who has somebody bonded to them and they die, that person dies soon afterwards
