Rants and Stuff / Re: Grumpy things go here
« on: July 20, 2005, 12:14:33 PM »
I've got senior pictures today. I hate dressing up, so this is bound to make me rather grumpy. I also have to start working on my three books for my AP Literature class. I thought summer was supposed to be a time for rest...

Music / Re: What are you Listening to?

Right now I'm listening to Mando Diaos Hurricane Bar, because it happens to be my most recent music purchase. They're part of the 60s Pop/Garage Rock revival movement, and I find that I like them a lot more than The Hives or the White Stripes or anyone else who is part of the movement. Still, nobody beats the Exploding Hearts when it comes to Garage Rock revival.

Everything Else / Re: Something Terrible and a Request

I'm not much for prayers either, but I hope that things work out for you, your family, and her. My dad hurt several vertebrae last summer, and through a series of surgeries he has recovered most of the way. Some of the things they can do for people with spinal injuries these days are amazing.

Once I get around to buying this game, you can be sure that I'll be running around in the game looking for you guys. Probably without any pants. Oh well...

It looks like it will have some stiff hardware requirements though. I don't know if I'll meet them, and my computer gets ornery if you put anything new in it.

He doesn't release any concerts directly through his website, except for a live cd he put out. To find his concerts, search the ToadBase archives for concerts that are in MP3 format. If you hit the downloads tab you can find some other stuff, usually recordings that have been cleaned up a bit.

I have all their cds, and a whole lot of bootlegged concerts. The concerts have been posted on the internet with Glen and the rest of the band's blessings, with the only rule being no videos (on his website Glen said that videos of himself creep him out or something like that). I'll post the link:

Have you heard any of Glen's solo stuff? I saw him in concert recently, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Search out one of his solo acoustic sets in the archives on that site, you won't be disappointed.

I love that song.

Mine? If you listen to Toad the Wet Sprocket, then you get some serious groovy points.

There's an old Virginian vibraphone
With a calculated gait
And a man who thinks he's Al Capone
With a cumberbund and cape

Don't criticize what a vicar would prize in you
And talk to the man if you feel he needs talking to
And the hobbit on the rocks is crying
And the fish upon the docks are dying

There's an orchestra in rococo
and an insulated dwarf
And the ships are sinking in the sea
As they sail from the shores

Don't criticize what a vicar would prize in you

And the hobbit on the rocks is crying
And the fish upon the docks are dying
And the hobbit on the rocks is crying
For the grunion in the sand entwining

Don't criticize what a vicar would prize in you
And talk to yourself if you feel you need talking to

I'm happy I just finished a week where I had to write two essays for AP European History, one essay for Sociology, and write a speech about Brazil for my English class.

Jimmy Eat World "Ramina"

Yay for instrumentals.

Elvis Costello "No Dancing"

Yay for people named Elvis.

e, if you liked those Death Cab tracks, you should really pick up their cd "Transatlanticism". I got it this weekend, and it's one of my better purchases in a long time. Unfortunately, my other purchase, Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends", was a little bit disappointing.

Though I would have liked to have held one of them close, I fear all that would have done is move the source of the noise closer to my ears.

The scariest thing about when I watched the Ring was being trapped in a room with six or seven screeching girls. Every mildly scary part was marked by, and I quote, "AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OH MY GOD! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" in stereo.

I really liked the Ogre Battle game that they made for it. It took forever, but I'm a sucker for strategy RPGs.
