Books / Re: What are you reading, part 3

Currently reading Animal Farm. I don't like this book, it has terrible Cold Ware Era propaganda written all over it. Don't see why people praise this book.

I finally finished it. I stopped reading it about halfway through and read some other, better books. The ending was much better than I thought it would be. The middle section made me want to vomit. It did it's job making me anticipate the next book though.

Quote
"I've many." The man took Kaladin's hand. "I began life as a thought, a concept, words on a page. That was another thing I stole. Myself. Another time, I was named for a rock."
"A pretty one, I hope."
"A beautiful one," the man said. "And one that became completely worthless for my wearing it"

I posted this quote up on 17th shard, The second part makes me think he held one at one point and time, and then lost it.

The thing I found odd about Spren is there are none in Shinovar. So, if the theory that Cultivation decided to hide there is correct, then the Spren are a creation of the other Shard on Roshar, no?

I'm having a hard time remembering this section, and it doesn't make sense to me intuitively. I mean, Szeth is a Windrunner, so he pretty much needs an honorspren right? Or perhaps him having an honorspren made him a Truthless? (Also, who the heck trained him to Surgebind?)

Szeth is the reason I don't buy into the one Surgebinder one Honorspren theory. Unless the people of Shin have a Truthspren constantly with them... Hmm. That could make sense. As seen from Rysn's VP the Shin are constantly saying what their goods are worth, emulating honesty, maybe attracting Truthspren. Szeth is the Truthless of Shinovar. So maybe he lost his Truthspren by telling a lie? Probably not, but intriguing nonetheless.

It mentions in the book that Elithanathile is the Almighty's name. Could just be a creation of the Ardents though.

Elaine Cunningham is awesome, but Ed Greenwood is better. Read the Elminster series. It's fantastic.

I think that this is just one of the things that we don't know enough about yet.

The only thing that could possibly qualify as an "element" is the black sphere Gavilar had, but Hoid doesn't HAVE that.

Bah the Black Sphere. Are there any theories out on this thing yet?

Darn. I should re-read the book more before I post :). I'm still curious as to what element Hoid is trying to protect. Damn you Brandon for making such an epic universe!

Maybe Lerasium, if there was any left.  Element+Sazed=Allomantic metal in my mind.

This bugged me a lot when I read this. Maybe I'm making something small bigger (in my mind).

Chapter 14
Quote
Let me first assure you that the element is quite safe. I have found a good home for it. I protect its safety like I protect my own skin, you might say.

So, assuming that the part 2 epigraphs are Hoid conversing with Sazed, what element do you think he's referring to? I'm thinking Atium.

I'm extremely inclined to agree with you because I haven't read the WoT.  I've been saying he should work on his own stuff the whole time!

Be warned. Some radical Wheel of Time fans will destroy you if you say this without having read the series ;)

I just want Brandon to work on these now. Long time Wheel of Time fan and holy crap he needs to stop writing those and finish this series!
