With a long book series set in a universe that has a larger continuity of its own (and is going to span more books than anyone but Brandon knows at this point)...you're going to be a VERY busy man after SLA starts coming out...or whatever else he's got in the hopper.

I tried to google this Pallopa pictures. They don't even have a website. It sounds like some new company. I really have no idea how development companies work. Do they write the script and then try to sell it to a studio? Does anyone know? My understanding is that this process typically takes several years even if a movie gets made. It can be 2 years just for script revisions.

That does strike me as odd. i did an extensive search on Pallopa, and i came up with nothing. although i doubt anything will go wrong, i do worry that this is some lame, fake deal with Brandon. that would just make more heatbreak for us all... anyway i think the movie would be great.

If we are doing suggestions for vin, i think Summer Glau from Firefly and Serenity would make an amazing vin, but thats just my opinion

I too would love to see Summer Glau (the ultimate cute waif of butt-kickery) as Vin.  I can't imagine anyone else as Vin.

The usual rules for most contests rule out employees of a company (in this case, person) and their immediate families.

Peter, I ought to worship you in your own right (regardless of whether you're allowed to compete)...you're actually paid to be a top fan.

I rewrite Japanese books translated into English—into better English.

I kind of gathered from your Twitter - I'm a deranged foreign media junkie by the way (but I can only read Latin derived languages so I'm dependent on awesome people like you for my comprehension of anything).

This sort of makes me wish I'd come here and bothered myself to register when I first read the books - I love getting inside the rationale and the process.
I fail at creation myself but watching it in progress is incomparably beautiful.

Oh!!! Shadesmar is the cognitive realm!  Now maybe I can participate in WofK discussions without sounding stupid. :P

I second that...and I've long assumed that the Cognitive (which is Shadesmar apparently) is how Hoid put in so many appearances.

I've heard that Google Wave is also an effective platform for classic RPG play.

I was thinking that...well...you'd need a dice roller outside of wave but wave for all the chat/collaborative/handouts

Problem being, my gaming group has all spread across the country, and I never took the time to find a new one.

That's the speed of it for me too...
1 in Madison, WI
1 in Boston, Mass
1 in Florida
4 still in state but in 4 different counties

I really did try to get gaming again though!

The other gaming group I had afterward is not quite as spread out but have either tired of gaming or have not the time or transit to gather (plus we lost our gaming spot and people have pet allergies so my house is not an option).

I probably need to get into PbP or online tabletop viewers.

I absolutely would...except I doubt that either one of us wants to think about the amount of travel that sort of thing would involve.  I just need to talk my local fan friends into playing with me (I recently discovered another one!).

It's low-tech.  Strange concept to some, I know.

In the olden days we used to gather around a table with Mountain Dew and Cheetos either in a coffeehouse or someone's living room (or if we're really being ostracized, a garage or basement) and roll dice while telling each other stories about what our characters were doing.

Thank you!  Apparently I've been saying Vasher properly all along but doubting myself.

I'm glad that I made someone smile and/or laugh.

I do have chaotic fits of insanity which may or may not end in something entertaining.

Are we trying to imply that Elvis is Hoid?  I can totally see him breaking god with pelvic thrusts.

This is WAY beyond my understanding so it might be complete tripe which makes no sense to the initiated (and is heavily influenced by my own strange views, too much meditation and lack of sleep) but I speculate that part of the fallout from The Shattering (obviously Adonalsium shattered and scattered - every shard with epic god-powers...that HAD to have been an epic event unleashing massive magic energies) COULD have unfastened Hoid (the witness to this event) from his former place in the cosmos - I wouldn't say that he HAS to be connected to a shard, he could simply be cursed (in a fashion).
Perhaps he's contacting our heroes in an effort to complete a series of goals with the sole intention of changing his lot.
