Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn Movie-Casting?

If he didn't annoy me, I'd say yes.  Definitely.
I don't know why, but watching Lost, Sawyer always got on my nerves.  Always,

I hadn't thought of using the cans... hmmm, it could work.  Was there any metal in the rock though??
As for soothing and rioting, she would have been doing it blindly.  She had no way of knowing how many guards were out there and what they were feeling.  The best she could have done is send out her soothings and riotings and hope the hit the right people and worked.  Maybe you're right and she should have at least tried it.  And all soothing and rioting with duralumin would have been to make the guards jump
If I remember correctly, weren't some of her metals getting low at this point?  Experimenting with duralumin might have been tricky.
Should what she did have been her first try at getting out of her situation, maybe not.  I'll give you that.  Perhaps jumping to that decision right away was out of character.  But choosing to take a risk and hope it pays off instead of torturing someone, i don't think that is out of character at all.

Jeez, sorry about that.  I should have known that.  I used to know it anyways.  Either I forgot, or I had a brain fart.  Thanks for pointing it out!

Cite, cite, cite, cite.

Is it just me, or does it now feel like we are convincing ourselves here?

Drizzt!  How can you stand that many.  I've read a fair number of his books, some parts are good, but he annoys me so much though!  I actually can't stand him.

100 pages to go in The Name of the Wind!  Someone broke into our house last night, and long story short, I ended up staying up until 3:00 reading.  I was almost asleep at 1:30, but then... Funny how things happen.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Freakout about the signing

I'm guessing he's leaving the country right after, and was worried we would leave before the signing.... Just my guess ;)

He said Marsh MIGHT concievably come back.  He never said he would.  I suppose that would depend on whether he has enough Atium (most of it is gone remember, how long can what's left last), and whether or not Brandon wants him around.

Take a look at this:

It looked cool, sort of, but it also made me laugh, hard ;).

Movies and TV / Re: Alice in Wonderland ::Maybe Spoilers::
« on: July 01, 2010, 06:06:22 AM »
I  also thought Depp didn't live up to expectations.  He was a little zany and a little crazy, but we've already seen him do that.  This is the MAD Hatter, and I assumed he was going to pull out all of the stops.  But I don't think he did.  I think he could have taken the character a lot farther.  Also, it seemd like Burton made too much a big deal out of the character just because Depp was playing him.

The ending was... bad.  He tried to make it all epic, but Alice in Wonderland isn't really that type of story.

That said, my earlier comments still stand.  I really did love this movie, a lot.  It was not without these criticisms however.

Although I am strongly against the idea of tatoos, especially big ones (I'm indecisive, have extreme buyers remorse, and hate needles, can you blame me?) those are the coolest pokemon I have ever seen.  I didn't even recognize them until it was pointed out in the post below, at first I thought it was all just one psychadelic peacock.
It looks super cool!

ARGH!! You comments make me itch to continue reading, but I'm over two thirds done the Name of the Wind, and I'm enjoying it so much I just have to finish.  There's also the small matter of the chapter I promised myself I'd have finished for tomorrow.  It is now two chapters, and still two viewpoints to go.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Breeze's Girlfriend?
« on: July 01, 2010, 05:54:22 AM »
I loved her.   The scene where she's gearing up to Riot the crowd, and Breeze won't let her, until he see's Spook, and then he soothes away all the unnessary emotions, and she riots the important ones, whipping the crowd into an instant frenzy is one of my favorites (Keep in mind I have a lot of favorites, but still, this is one of them.)
I also love her and Breeze's relationship.  Both think they are completely manipulating the other, and use their powers so instinctively... I really like it.

Ellen Page all the way!  From what I've seen of Glau, definately too old.  I can maybe see her playing Hero of Ages Vin, but short-haired boyish Final Empire Vin?  No way.  Of course, by the time the movie actually happens, Page might be too old as well.
Nonetheless, she has my whole hearted vote.

Agree with Link.  I think the only real mystery about the bodies is who they are, not why they dropped.

I have to say, so far my detour into the Name of the Wind has been a good one.  It's hard to put it down, which is different from Eye of the World.  There came times while reading it that I had to put it down.
I just hope I can pull away from it long enough to get some writing done today!

Reading Excuses / Re: Progress and Submission Reports
« on: June 30, 2010, 06:30:26 AM »
I am almost finished the second part.  I thought I was moving into the last scene, but it was too much, so I split it and half.  I also spread the very busy scene before it into two parts, and now I like both a lot better.
That being said, it's kind of frustrating to have done so much writing today, and still have the whole last scene left to write.  It feels like I didn't get anywhere, even though I did.

PS: Chaos, your prologue is really great.  I liked it a lot.
