That certainly makes sense, darxbane, but then how is Ruin causing the killings in the mist if its the thing that "opposes" the mists? We seem to get back to the same paradoxes every time.

I would more likely attribute to the "sickness" and killings from the dichotomy of Ruin vs. Preservation. I mean, if they are opposing forces, maybe they are fighting for which ones live or die? I dunno. My theory needs work.

Hmmm, Guild Wars. It's currently the only MMO I play, because it has no monthly fee--which is awesome since I really don't play it that much. However, I have Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall (Collectors Edition, too), and GWEN. There's so much awesome to go around there.

I suppose the best part about the game is how sweet the high level armors look. It is immensely gratifying that you can see your character all decked out.

I have ten characters, one of each class, but I primarily only use a few (those ones are the level 20's). My main one is a Warrior/Necro, my original Prophecies character. I have an assassin, monk, and a dervish. Those are the classes I play.

As for tactics... I don't really use them... Though I've gotten better with my warrior through time. Right now I'm running... oh, what is it? Oh! Mark of Pain. I use Mark of Pain, Hundred Blades, and basic warrior skills, and it pretty much slaughters groups of basic enemies. It was surprising, because I went from Camp Rankor all the way through Snake Dance with just henchmen. That was fun :D.

:P My logic mode tends to not be very, uh, powerful writing. More thinking out loud, if you will.

It's possible, though, that the reason Vin can channel the mists isn't solely because she's so powerful, but because of something Ruin or Preservation is doing through the mists. See the topic called "Ruin and Preservation" for more on that.

So, for summary:

1. To gain Hemalurgic powers, one must have a blood sacrifice.
2. Channeling the mists as Vin did against the Lord Ruler is not Hemalurgy.

It's strange. The mists seem to be something both Ruin (through killing) and Preservation (through the mist spirit) can use. I wonder why that is, exactly? I mean, both forces are essentially opposites, so why are they both wielding the mists?

There I go with forgetting important things. Sorry about that, my wires get crossed sometimes.

I agree with Rule Number 1. Brandon has stated in the MB1 annotations that making Steel Inquisitors through Hemalurgy requires a blood sacrifice, so it's not too far a stretch to apply that to all Hemalurgists.

In Vin's case, the blood sacrifice could be her own sister (as her mother killed her and then gave the earring to Vin).

I would like to correct my original statement, then. We have a paradox, then. People with metals inside of them, like Zane and Inquisitors, have their special Hemalurgic powers. Vin can pierce copperclouds. It seems to work fine, right?

Except for the mist. Vin using the mist to attack the Lord Ruler throws a significant wrench in things. But, Steel Inquisitors push away mist. That has to be something Hemalurgy related. That leads me to believe that when Vin channels the mists, it isn't Hemalurgy, just because the nature of Hemalurgy pushes the mist away.

Well, I'm going to be a Physics major when I start college in the fall, so I guess that's what you get. :D

By applying rules, we can begin the process of understanding :D.

Right now I'm listening to Atreyu's "Falling Down". Something about it just makes it repeat in my mind...

Then again, Porno Graffitti's (it's Japanese, excuse the weird name) "Neo Melodramatic" has the same effect on me. It just demands I listen to it for an hour straight!

I really need to reread MB1 for those clues about Inquisitors. My memory is a bit fuzzy.

If Inquisitors can pierce copperclouds, then there's no question: that ability comes from Hemalurgy. The Lord Ruler definitely has enough piercings to qualify him as a Hemalurgist, Inquisitors obviously have the spikes, and Vin has her earring.

Hmmm... Hemalurgy is weird. Allomancy, by nature (as far as we know, without enhancement), cannot affect metals inside of someone, and yet, with Hemalurgy, you can. We need to start to apply some rules to Hemalurgy. All of this abstract thought is painful...

Well, I don't think Brandon would put in the Ashmounts and give them names if they weren't important in some ways.

I like the Day/Night parallel thing... that's certainly an excellent addition to the theory.

I think that if something based on Mistborn was made by Bioware, that would be the best of everything. Mass Effect had a great dialogue system. Combine that with emotional Allomancy and you can have some real fun.

Though there needs to be a multiplayer battle mode. Even if it's an action-RPG, there must be multiplayer.

Again, I can't help but coming back to that lake, with the metallic sheen, it seems to planned to be jsut thrown in for kicks, and I don't think it should be ignored.  I thought it was where the metal that made allomancer came from, but I guess it could also be the alloy.

Hmmm. Perhaps the 15th metal is the one Elend ate, which gives powers of Mistborn, and the 16th is the metal at the Well of Ascension?

I like that theory, but it doesn't seem quite right. For each Allomantic "quartet" (Physical, Mental, Temporal), there are two that are External, two Internal. I expect that the Aluminum quartet would have the same properties. The way I'm reading it, aluminum looks like the Internal pair.

Those 15th and 16th metals would need to be external, right?

Oh, and here's something Brandon posted on the fan art thread. It certainly verifies that there are two more metals.

A couple of things about that wallpaper:

1. It's really cool. I need to set it for my desktop.
2. Remember, the Internal metals are the inner circle.
3. Notice the dots on each of the pairs. On one, the dot is inside the rest of the symbol, and the other, it's on the outside. I believe this signifies which metal is a Pushing or Pulling metal.

Oh Cosmic, it's definitely possible that there is a 15th and 16th metal--likely, even. There's a theory going around that the metal Elend ate at the Well of Ascension is one of that pair.
