Your theory is sound.  Just because the metals happen to be inside you, doesnt make the aluminums internal metals.  All the other internal metals affect you directly.  Aluminum has no effect on you.  If you have no other metals, you can burn aluminum and duralumin all day long and nothing will happen.  I think the MB2 Ars Arcanum has the metals listed with the symbols.  I need to remember to check that tonight.

That could mean that the Lord Ruler was a shield of sorts.  He could limit Ruin's influence on those he controlled.  Once he died, there was nothing to prevent Ruin from taking over the Inq's.  TLR might not have even known just how dangerous using Hemallurgy could be to him.  Either that, or believed he was powerful enough to prevent it.  He was nothing if not arrogant.

I think it is in that village that was circled on the inner sanctum wall, before Vin enters the well, but I can't think of the name right now.

I was thinking the same thing, Shost.  Just for fun though, let's twist it a little.  Maybe Alendi already had the piercings.  Maybe the Khlennium people were skilled in Hemallurgy.  How else could they oppress the Terris World Bringers?  All our pal Ruin would have to do is twist the prophecy to say that the Hero of Ages would be pierced this way.  It made everything else up, why not this too?  All it needed was someone with Hemallurgy to get close enough to feel the pulsing.  This is a pretty wild theory, but you all love it, dont you?  :-*

All excellent points, people.  What if there was only Hemallurgy and Feruchemy? Alendi was Khlennium, who oppressed the Terris people.  How could they oppress people with Feruchemical powers without a power of their own?

I was thinking more along the lines of the leaping around with Iron and Steel.

I don't mind if certain parts of the book are omitted in the movie.  What upsets me is when they add things in that didn't happen (Haldir at Helm's Deep, Frodo telling Sam to screw, etc), or they give characters the roles of lesser characters to make the story less "confusing" (Arwen saving Frodo instead of Glorfindel, I am such a nerd).  I hate to think that the number of semi-intelligent people in the world is so small that everything has to be dumbed down to a 10 character or less movie.

Zane did see two shadows.  The second one appeared as he was dodging the first.  I don't remember if he just chose wrong or was surprised to see two at the same time, but either way, he did still see what she was going to do.  I still don't think this flaw is in Atium itself.  What Vin does is not easy.  It is quite hard to not think about what you are going to do next in a fight.  Plus, had Zane survived, he would not be fooled by that trick again.  A flaw is something you can repeatedly exploit.  Vin will never fall for this trick because she is aware of it.

You would never get away from someone burning Pewter.  It would be a great asset for someone who is protecting a dignitary, though.  It would take an insane amount of atium to keep up the power, but it would be nice to see the assassin's strike before it happens.

Are the mists actually of a substance?  Does it mention in the books that people who walk through the mists actually get wet?  What if it is ethereal?  It feels cool on skin and obscures vision, and in many ways behave like fog, but what if it is not actually made of any physical material?  The mists were there before Rashek ascended, as Alendi encounters the Mist Spirit during his travels.

How was I wrong?  You stated the exact same thing I did, just in a more complicated way.  You even admitted that the Moon's momentum would need to remain equal to the force of Earth's gravity.   Subtle pulling would still not work if it was constant.  However, I just thought of something;  If you allowed the object to slingshot around you by pulling and releasing, you may be able to get an elliptical orbit for a time.  However, in the case of the Mistborn Universe, it would take so much concentration as to be counterproductive.  When Vin Pulls that gate, she stops pulling once the object passes her.  If she didn't the gate would either slow down or stop and come back at her, or if it was heavy enough, take her with it.  I see Pushing and Pulling like tying yourself to the object like on a tether.

I am sure that is not Vin's only purpose.  She got to kill Straff, and that is something I would have stood in line to do. ;D  In all seriousness, this could be an example of how the Hero can benefit both sides, and it is the choices made by the Hero that ultimately decide who wins. She still has a chance to fix her mistake, after all. The Preservation spirit's involvement have not been revealed in much detail yet.  It could have been helping Vin in ways we don't know.  It did try to keep her from freeing Ruin, but in a very indirect way.  Maybe the Mist Spirit isn't Preservation, just a guardian of the Well.

Chaos, I agree.  Either Ruin can use the mists and influence Hemallurgy, or the deaths in the mists have nothing to do with Ruin at all.

That's a good find.  I have some rereading to do.  I still think there is something we're missing, though.  Koloss and Kandra are both creations of the LordRuler.  Mistwraiths may be as well.  How they were created?  I don't think that detail is available yet, but the mists could very well be a factor in their creation.

darxbane, learn some physics....
Rhuan, Rhuan, Rhuan,
First off, not very friendly of you.  Secondly, you are forgetting about friction, Inertia, and Centrifical force.  Inertia keeps the Moon wanting to move in a straight line.  Gravity prevents the Moon from going in a straight line. Centrifical force keeps the Moon at a constant speed so gravity doesn't take over   The Moon stays in orbit because the two forces (inertia and gravity)  are equal.  If one became greater, the moon would either crash into the Earth or fly off into space.  With your second example, spin that ball on a string while wrapping it around your arm and see what happens.  In this case, the metal object will not maintain speed in its original direction.  It will be slowed by air, gravity, and the new direction you are pulling on it.  Plus it will be constantly changing as you move.  This will cause it to get closer and closer until it either hits you or you stop Pulling.  You could never maintain a spin without being able to spin your body as fast as you wanted the coin to spin around you.I don't think that would make a very effective defense.  Kelsier stopped Pulling the soldier as he was moving out of the way.  The speed generated from the initial pull was enough to send the soldier flying past him.  Kind of like a catapult or trebuchet.  You can (try to) make a point without flaming someone, but if you do decide to flame, make sure you have all your facts in order.   >:(

I agree with Coma on this one.  We don't know where the piercings were, but they were probably small amounts of metal, as they appeared to be more ritualistic than anything else.

That has potential.  One thing to point out:  The three magic systems are unique in their interactions with the mists.  The mists are attracted to allomancers, repelled by Hemallurgists, and seem to not care one way or the other for Feruchemists.  Your point is good, though.  At least I have been assuming that, since Ruin can influence people who have Hemallurgy metals, that it would be an opposing force to the mists.  That may not be the case, as it can also influence metal minds, which seem to have nothing to do with the mists at all.  The only thing I can think of that would preclude Ruin from using the mists is that Ruin seems to be unable to influence Allomancy, which is most closely associated with the mists.  Also, the Mist spirit actually uses Allomancy, or at least appears to.  Is it October yet?
