I just finished reading Warbreaker chapters/draft/sample.  I was wondering if the breath colors could be the colors Vivena will be wearing...like maybe a gray faded area on the dress?  Or at least have the breath just the colors of her outfit.

I don't like the Native American style of the dresses depicted.  I think her dress from the story was vibrant but she chose more covered styles...very prudent woman.

And she does look kind of Asian...is that how you see her?  I see the people in the story as more Caucasian.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon, about Denver - got a book!!

Well I sure missed your Denver signing...by a month or so!  But my husband had a teacher's conference in Denver  this week (Nov 12th and on) and I got to go with him - so I looked up your Waldenbooks in Denver and I braved myself to go drive in Denver's downtown area and found the mall with Waldenbooks!  I called ahead and talked to manager and he told me they still had an autographed copy of Alcatraz so I asked the concierge in the lobby how to get there and wa-la!, I got there and actually added a hardback book back into our home library.  I think Alcatraz will be more my speed of reading. I have avid readers in my family and as a mom I personally just can't recommend books that have rapes, sex scenes...no R or PG-13 type stuff unless my kids can keep it in perspective.  Some of my kids can't, some are mature and can.  So back to Alcatraz, I think it will be my type of reading that I can share with my whole family; kindergartener to college daughters.   I think Brandon has a genius in creating worlds that are believable.

Here's another 2 cents worth of opinion...
1. I agree arms are too long. Bugs me.
2. Hair not gorgeous messy, just messy.
3. Hair and skin coloration are not enough for a good contrast to find appealing.
4. The neckline of the dress looks like the type to have some man be painted in to be leaning over her to be kissing her on the neck type of art.  I'd pass over that book.  Sell it to Harlequin Romance books...
5. Swords with blood on them aren't my thing, but I think it does tell a story by depicting it in the picture.  I think it needs more in the picture to depict more of the story to grab me to pick it up to wonder about it.
6. I like the cover of Mistborn I as Vin has movement, action.  She seems wholesome in a tough situation with that inquisitor below.  This pictures seems a little stagnant.  I like strong good women depicted even if that isn't who they are in the beginning of a book and they become this later.
7. I like the lettering to the title.  I just think it needs to be way bigger.

..only opinions...good luck with whatever you choose.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: thoughts on hardbacks

I love books. I love the look of hardback books. But I have been married 24 yrs and I just counted up the many times I have moved since I've been married and it is 18+ times in those 24 yrs!!  We just got rid of 10 book sized U-haul boxes of books because we are getting so tired of hauling them in and out of all the houses we live in!  My husband likes being more portable and is trying to encourage our book reading family to enjoy the library more!  So this makes paperback books more acceptable to our household.  I have 9 kids at home and we still think those scholastic book orders are like christmas wish list catalogs!  My teens like to get them from their little brothers & sisters before the little guys can get their papers to me after school!  It is nice we all like to read, but unless a book is totally a family sharing type book - hardbound books aren't generally acquired for our household.   I got a hold of Mistborn at the library and liked it and just had to have my own copy.  I got one from Amazon, but it was a used copy or something that made it cheap enough for me to buy.  Sorry to find out it doesn't help authors to buy books the way I do.

Hmm...I'm scared of posting but as a mother of 10 and probably the oldest here, I guess I shouldn't be!  I'm Avis Fossett and live in WY currently with my husband and nine of our children.  We also have residing with us:  a rottweiler named Akachan, a poodle named Sakura, two lovebirds, a cockatiel named Kame that barks and meows, a ferret named Haiyama, and some large goldfish my daughter won't let us get rid of!!  I live in a virtual zoo of animals of all kinds and it actually is fun sometimes in our organized insanity! My husband Jim has tendencies towards the character of "Monk" (tv show), a military drill master, and an overgrown boy that I still adore after 24 yrs of marriage.  I knew Pemberly many yrs ago when she taught in WY. And because of her, I read and bought Mistborn 1 and Elantris.  Brandon is a very creative writer. I like his fresh "worlds" he creates.  I don't care for the rape and murder scenes that I've "seen" as I've read his books, but I love the genius of his worlds that he develops that draws me in to want to have powers like the girl in Mistborn.  (I forget my own children's names so it isn't a slight on your story characters, Brandon!)  So here I am as I have titled myself as "Queen Mother".

Pemberly,

As I have no idea how this all works, this is my first post here. I just want you to look in your old email address when you were single.  I sent an email there to make sure I have the right address to send you a gift for the baby.  You know me from Wyoming when you taught there.
