No, you REALLY don't.  ;) It's a good thing EUOL and Sprig have readers who catch their spelling mistakes, or there would be many more confusions of this type.

A god would be eternally young and handsome, while his mortal mate would age and die.  Wouldn't it be depressing to date/marry someone way better looking than you?  Werewolves-too hairy.  Vampires-too creepy.  Fairies-too feminine.  The only justifiable alternative is a superhero, whose secret identity would allow him to live in the real world, but whose super powers would allow him to take you on some pretty awesome dates.  Plus, you'd have a wonderful altruistic feeling of knowing that your sweetheart saved the world.

Yes, our baby boy is due November 2nd.  We hope he doesn't come early while EUOL is on book tour.  If he's anything like his father, who often arrives late to things, there will be nothing to worry about ... ;) I suspect he is like his father because his favorite time to be active is 3:00 am.  Anyway, I'm sure pictures will be posted once the lad arrives.

Hummm.....

Shrain is actually wrong.  That's Hoed she's thinking of.  However, if you look around, you may find Hoid somewhere else in Elantris.

EUOL and I are planning on coming.  We'll bring food for sure.  Let us know if you need anything else.

Oh, so you didn't go!

No, EUOL didn't go to Worldcon this year.  He's nice enough not to go  to Japan without me, and my being seven months pregnant made the trip inadvisable.

I find it interesting that Naomi Novik's publisher did a rather unheard of thing and released all three books in paperback during the same year.  Judging by the number of Cambell votes she got, it apparently it worked!  However, maybe it was the fact that she had cover quotes from Stephen King, Ann McCaffrey, and Terry Brooks ... Okay, it probably helped that her books are quite good.  I thought the second one was the weakest of the three, but I enjoyed them and intend to read #4.  (Now, lest some of you accuse me of disloyalty, know that EUOL actually bought the books for me and told me to read them! Whew!  Wouldn't want to get included in this planned ninja monkeys attack!)

Last winter we had a couple of mice who decided to move in with us.  We quickly discouraged this, and I thought we'd cleaned up all the mess.  Today, though, when I went to look through some boxes in the basement I found that said mice had made lovely nests among my cherished keepsakes.  I don't think anything is permanently damaged, but it was GROSS!

Thanks, polaris!  This is really great.  Personally I think I like this version better than the colored pencil version, but both are very cool.  You are talented!

I've never read the book, but quite enjoyed the movie.  The Fairy Tale aspects were charming, for the most part, and I loved the wacky humor.

Hey Ookla, did you read it yet?  I finished earlier today. (I just wanted to join in the general taunting.)  ;)

I understand completely.  He sent me part 2 a while ago when I was at school, and I spent all afternoon reading instead of grading papers.  (At least when you read from the computer screen it looks as though you are working!)  So is there some sort of disorder for obsessive readers?

Thanks, everyone, for all the input.  I knew I was coming to the right source with my question.  Anybody else who has more info, feel free to chime in.  I'll certainly let you know what we decide to buy.  ;)

Brandon Sanderson / PC or Mac?
« on: April 18, 2007, 01:59:48 AM »
The illustrious Mr. Sanderson uses a PC when crafting his fiction.  (Okay, now I've made some reference to Brandon, so I can justify posting this thread in his forums.  :)  I, his schoolteacher wife, have been using a Mac for the last three years.  We are considering buying a laptop for me, as the one I have is actually property of the school district, and will have to be returned when I am no longer teaching.  I was just wondering what all you computer savvy people think about PC's vs. Macs.  I'm not trying to start an argument here, so no insults, please! I'm just curious about what TWG-ers would say are the advantages or disadvantages of owning a PC or a Mac.  Any thoughts?
