You know, that could very well be right... sort of like a Warbreaker type thing where the Parshmen are Lifeless and the Parshendi have more Breaths added, or more complex Commands, or whatever the Stormlight equivalent thereof happens to be.

My understanding of this (and I think this comes from an annotation, but it may also just be me making stuff up) is that what all the people called "atium" was not really atium.  It was cadmium, and everyone was using the wrong name.  The actual atium, which is the body of Ati (the shard) is something else.

Therefore, there are correctly 16 sets of mistings, and in addition to that, there are the two god metals, atium and larasium.

Since there was a person named Ati, and a person named Laras who bonded with shards, and the metal names are Atium and Larasium, I wonder if, now that Sazed has control of both shards, they will stop being produced, and instead there will be Sazedium.  Swallow a pellet of that and see where the rabbit hole goes.

I don't know if this is really relevant, but the Hebrew name for god is "Adonai", which is pretty close to your "Adonal" naming...
