Books / Re: anyone else get sleepy when they read?

Brandon's books don't make me sleepy, but a lot of other books do. It's sad.

Better than myself. I've been doing booster drafts for a few months now. I've only won three or four games. I have lots of fun, but everyone always gets me with infect. You'd think I learn.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Favorite Authors...Where does Brandon Rate?
« on: July 23, 2009, 11:26:36 AM »
5. Brent Weeks
4. Tad Williams
3. J.R.R. Tolkien
2. Robert Jordan
1. Brandon Sanderson

It fluctuates on a yearly basis, so things shift. This year Jordan is behind Sanderson, next year Sanderson could drop, but that I highly doubt. It's just on what I'm really into at the moment.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn trilogy review and feedback

Sounds like all you liked doing was focusing what you thought was bad in the books. This instantly brands a fail on your review. If you think stuff is getting repeated too much and you didn't like it, stop reading, don't come and complain to people about it. Also, the first book is called 'The Final Empire', not Mistborn. That's the title for the whole trilogy.

Mistborn is by far the best Trilogy I've read in a long time.

I read the prolouge back in April, and I was extremely excited by it after reading it, so I stopped, and went and preordered the book. When it did come out, I ate the book up, and now that I'm finished I want to read it again. It was such a good book.

Books / Re: What are you reading, part 3

Currently doing a re-read of Winter's Heart, by Robert Jordan, since I got behind on it while reading the Night Angel Trilogy. Also reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and just starting up Rules of Ascension, by David Coe. Wish I had some more Brandon Sanderson to read now.

I'm not actually sure if this is a typo, or if I just missed the one reference to it, but in the Ars Arcanum in Well of Ascension, there's an entry for "Survivor of Sathsin", This might be a typo, correct me if I'm wrong.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon To Write Wheel of Time Book 12

I had the pleasure of reading Elantris right before they announced Brandon would be finishing WoT, and as a avid reader for 10+ years now, I'm pretty happy with who they chose. I love his style, and I know he'll be able to adapt with no problem to complete the books. It was also a plus to get to sit in on Jordan Con and listen to him talk about the books all weekend.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: UK Mistborn Cover Art
« on: July 15, 2009, 07:50:04 PM »
I really love how the mists are rendered in this version. 2 and 3 are stronger covers, in my opinion. Final Empire's cityscape looks immensely childish with this art style. Vin looks much better.

Interesting how "The Final Empire" is emphasized over "Mistborn". All the US versions emphasize Mistborn more.

That's because they want to emphasize on Mistborn over each individual book, which makes it easier to relagate during conversations with people about the series who haven't read the series. Or it could be that the publishers here just like to make text big.

I'm not too much of a fan of those covers at all. The Mass Paperback for the US are pretty good, but I absolutely love the US hardback covers for the Mistborn books, those are just my style.
