Brandon Sanderson / Re: So There is Going to be a Mistborn Flick....

I agree with BS that is more important to have a group that understands the book than a typical Hollywood deal. What I've never understood is why they would pay a lot of money for the movie rights to a book then change the whole thing up until it is virtually indistinguishable from the book.  Really hope this is more in the Lord of the Rings vein where basically an unknown did great things.

Would be kind of Hitchcock coolness if Hoid has a mention in WOT/TGS.

ive decided to root for the Dark Lord in WoT. the bad guys are way more interesting at this point.
Well said. The only character I really care about these days is Mat...

Really? He's the best but I sure want to see the return of Moraine and what Aviendha has been up to. Sure would like to see Egwene keep growing and start to kick some Aes Sedai booty. Perrin can become cool again now that the eternal Faile rescue is over and Rand might become more early Rand like once he learns to laugh and cry again. Nynaeve has become pretty interesting lately, Oh yeah Lan in the borderlands, Galad in charge of Whitecloaks, Thom, Jain, Verin etc.

1) I was a little dissappointed in how Rashek turned out to be good.  I realize Ruin was strongly influencing him, but I still think it kind of ruins the horrifying way the first book portrays the Final Empire.  Mistborn set it up as a horrible, cruel world (I know there's a better adjective I'm looking for here, but I can't think of it) and that was the main reason why Kell's death was so meaningful.  By making the Lord Ruler a good person the book kind of ruined Kell's whole purpose.

Not really as because as the Lord Ruler is revealed to not be completely evil another being is being revealed to be worse the Lord Ruler ever was. The creapiness just increases.

I agree with you 100%. WoT is getting to much attention and is completely taking over this forum.

I'm sorry some of you feel that way but I discovered the greatness of BS because of his being picked to write AMOL. If BS picks up a lot of other new fans the same way his next books should be much more popular and you should get a lot of new views and speculation on them. If you are mainly agitated about losing the coziness of being one of the few to know about BS then I feel for you but those days may be over (not at my local B&N, however , where they have one copy of Elantris and BS is still an unknown).

But I'm lucky if I get 5 hours of free time per week to paint.

Very nice especially given the time restraints. Hope you spend more five hour segments this way.

Ha! my son found a description of Elaida in LoC Chapter 7 page 206 (in the paperback).

"An unyielding stern-faced woman, handsome rather than beautiful, and dark of hair and eye, Elaida wore a blood-red dress, with the striped stole of the Amyrlin Seat about her shoulders."

So not blonde.

Interesting about the lack of description of Elaida as I never noticed that she was never described before. Even the Wikipedia page doesn't describe her except in general Aes Sedai tems. However, she is from Murandy as is Padan Fain and the Dabel Brothers graphic novels portrayed her as a light skinned brunette.  Not sure but I would guess Robert Jordan saw those and would have shot anything down that was off.

After realizing how perfectly all the pieces of RJ's story fit together, I'm beginning to wonder if he plays chess.…

No, stones.  ;)

Whoops! I don't even know who that is yet. LOL  I re-read it and they actually don't mention the character by name, I just figured it was Lanfear because it was female and had superb control of the power and talked of the other Forsaken. My mistake guys!

No, I'm sorry that I spoiled something for you. I thought you mixed them up but I will be more careful in the future not to get ahead of where you are. Even those of us who have read it multiple times can't recall everything. In fact every time I re-reread the books and read message boards I learn more. It's like an onion with layer upon layer.

Lanfear totally totally schooled Nyneave and Elayne in the use of the Power. They thought it was Liandran and were all ready to capture her and then Lanfear walked in and she is so powerful that they were helpless. Somehow she managed to make Nyneave and Elayne completely under her control (Spirit??) and made them tell her everything!! Why they were there and who they were with...now she knows it all!! LOL  VERY great scene.

I thought it was Moghedian.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon To Write Wheel of Time Book 12

Book 10 was a filler book.

It was odd in that the first time it seemed to be so but after reading Book 11 and then re-reading the series Book 10 has a lot of subtle stuff that leads into the explosions of 11 (Book 12 (and 13?) should send the series into the stratosphere. I hope it ends with a few wicked twists like Hero of Ages and shows all of us speculators that we don't know anything.

Someone over at Dragonmount had a good observation about Perrin in that the Faile rescue was long but was a great chance to set up his alliance with the Seanchan. Mat has also done the same by impressing Tuon and her rescuers with his skill in battle. I also doubt they are looking forward to battles with Rand and even Ituralde has made an impression. I'll bet they think very differently about the military leaders than before they sailed and working with them at the Last Battle should be easier now.

Without evil there really isn't the chance for people to show what their made of and for personal sacrifice etc.
