Brandon Sanderson / Re: Warbreaker

Around 1/20 of the books I buy are hardcover. I bought Mistborn 3 in hardcover. I will not be buying Warbreaker in hardcover, since I've read it online, but I will be buying it in paperback. Data!

Note: sex is not bad, evil, or dirty. We have a silly culture that says it is, so leaving it out of a book is just fine for sales, but I find it very hard to believe a "gratuitous sex scene" is worse than the bloody, gory mess Vin leaves in her wake.

To answer why the Dark One exists at all, it is balance.  The Universe needs balance, so there must be evil.
Passing the recursive buck. Why would the universe "need balance"? That just seems silly.

I think my organization scheme is different than yours... :D

How many Shards do you think we've seen in WoT? The pool of pure Saidin in book 1 is very reminiscent of Raoden's pool and Preservation's pool... and the Dark One was kept in a prison in a cycle... and the saidin/saidar interaction? Come on. Therefore clearly the Dragon is a Shard.

I mean, clearly.  :o

Brandon, I'd like to see a timeline of when you fleshed out the parts of the cosmology we know about. I'd imagine Allomancy came before you fit it into the bigger picture, right? What was your method, come up with a cool image of hammering spikes through a living being, figure out how to integrate that into a larger picture, and then think about the implications of your new cosmology? Or what?

What's the goal of this RPG? Mistborn obviously makes an awesome setting but the press release says next-to-nothing about the design goals.

a roleplaying game based on his epic fantasy trilogy Mistborn. The game will arrive in 2009 and let players create their own exciting adventures in the Final Empire.
This tells me the setting is based on Mistborn's setting.

a product capturing the unique magic, action, and intrigue [of] Mistborn
Sounds nice. Does this mean you aim to capture the feel of Allomancy? Does it mean you want to recreate Brandon's theory of magic in writing, i.e. codify the rules completely but make them complex enough to be useful for solving interesting problems (e.g. Portal in a pen&paper RPG)?

I’ve looked forward to the day when I could help adapt one of my properties as an RPG setting
Hm, maybe this is just a setting supplement to Fantasy Craft? Dunno.

Do you have any goals for it yet other than "setting == Mistborn" that you can tell us?
