Seeing as it's 01:13, December 25th, merry christmas all. Try not to impale yourselves on a christmas decoration by accident. :P

How come they always go after the prostitutes? :( This one is a lot faster though, since he's already killed 5 women in the space of 10 days. Wonder if that is better or worse - normally this kind of killer murders slowly, so police have time to work on the case but the killer is more careful, wheres this one is moving so fast he must surely make more mistakes? One of the girls comes from the town where I live, as well. Nasty stuff.

Movies and TV / Apocalypto
« on: December 08, 2006, 12:09:53 PM »
I added a poll, to test it out. You can vote for as many options as you want.

I'm quite excited for this movie, after reading some reviews of it online. I especially admire the use of the ancient language, which I feel adds immeasurably to the immersion and feel of any historical movie. I'm the kind of guy who installs Latin voice packs onto Rome: Total War, just for how appropriate it sounds.

The thing that amuses me, actually, is how this is Mel Gibson - the man who starred in the hilariously inaccurate Braveheart (the battle of Stirling bridge - without the bridge! :D) doing a fiercely authentic recreation of a long-dead culture.

The reviews did mention it is incredibly violent, as well as an essay on the percieved decline of Western civilization and the Iraq War, which could make it humdrum, but reportedly it's a very fast moving flick.

Everything Else / I want pie.
« on: November 19, 2006, 03:22:13 PM »
Pie is nice. Not as nice as steak, but still pretty danged nice. The pies you get from supermarkets can be a little sub-par, but when you get a nice steaming pie with a nice flavourful pastry topping it's really quite ace.

And thus concludes our test-post.  ::)

Suggestions Box / D&D section
« on: July 15, 2006, 10:20:47 AM »
A few things...
1) Could we sort the D&D section out, removing all the 3.0 articles and putting them into a seperate archive? It's hard to know, as a reader, if the review your reading is the up-to-date one.
2) Some books arn't in the section - all three of the enviromental books are absent, for example.

On other related notes, how come the listings work differently on different pages? The general Reviews listing for RPG's is sorted by title, while the D&D listing is sorted by score. It's kind of wierd - is it set like that in the back-end, or is the site remembering what I did to it last?

They are interested in female perspective or something. Honestly, i didn't really read it since the poster decided on ORANGE for the text colour.

Video Games / E3 PC

Take that, dirty console monkies!

- C&C 3 is making it's first showing here. Various cool things, like the new (EA) dev team making a 'dev bible' that explains eveything in the setting, so they can keep the games consistent and work within their own framework. It'll go off EA's SAGE engine - it powered Generals, BFME 1 and BFME 2. They've been upgrading the hell out of it though. Generals looks horrible compared to BFME 2.
They better get Joseph Kucan back to play Kane, though.

That's about the only game i'm bothering to follow. Need to check up on Medieval 2, see if Valve made any dramatic remarks, look at the Civ 4 expansion pack info (if any) and check on Ceaser 4 (it's being made by the guys who made Children of the Nile - the game I raved over earlier).

Hard work, being a geek.

Video Games / Titan Quest
« on: May 11, 2006, 10:37:46 AM »
Figure you guys might like this. It's basically diablo 2, with really nice graphics (though lame combat animations) and set in the ancient world. I tried it, it's fun enough for 10 minutes but I found it too boring after that - the exact same reaction I had to diablo 2.

Suggestions Box / More anti-spam protections
« on: April 23, 2006, 08:20:21 PM »
Could we please have more anti-spam protections? Either some controls on registration (such as image verification) or controls on how many posts a user has to make before he can start his own thread (generally useful..).

I shall now be conducting a campaign to kill SE, Fell, Spriggan, 42, House of Mustard, maybe Skar. They shall all be burnt on a pyre.

That is all.

Bastards.

Role-Playing Games / 'Above the Earth'
« on: March 12, 2006, 11:54:39 PM »
http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/Above_The_Earth.php

This is a indie rpg, built in 24 hours. It shows, but it's still a really awesome concept. It's concept is that each session, the characters get 100 dice each, to spend as they will on various tasks. The dice pool doesn't recharge until the next session.

Interested to see what people think of it. PDF file, 13 pages long. Easy read.
