Everything Else / Renovation (Worldcon)
« on: August 16, 2011, 06:48:26 AM »
So, many of our favorite authors are going to be at Worldcon this year.

What TWGers are going to be in the area?  Because if anyone else is coming down, we should totally hang out.

Rants and Stuff / These Stupid Titles X: Still Stupid, Still Titles

I figured, while I'm in the business of restarting threads...

So, I'm still a Dragonslayer.

Rants and Stuff / The New Happy Thread
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:04:36 AM »
Seeing as it's 2011, I thought I'd get rid of the 2009 thread.

Sorry if I stepped on any toes.

(Someone post something happy, alright?)

Suggestions Box / What is the best book Brandon Sanderson has ever written?
« on: September 04, 2010, 03:03:24 AM »
Well, he's gone and already published some 10 novels.  That's quite impressive, and he's only getting started.

Everything Else / Warhammer Quest
« on: June 26, 2010, 05:42:09 AM »
So, I've been hard at work developing a framework for this on Maptool.

So, who wants to play?

(I know this could have gone in Tabletop Games or RPG's, but I figured I'd post it here, instead, since I'm mostly just looking for guinea pigs out to have fun.)

Anyway, please contact me via the messenger service of your choice.

Webcomics & Free Stuff / Webcomics suitable for young audiences?
« on: January 12, 2010, 06:17:35 AM »
Hullo!  So, right now I'm making my living tutoring, and one of the subjects I tutor is English.  I have one child in particular I'd love to get reading more, and I think webcomics might be a good way for him to enjoy more reading.

So, my question is, does anyone know of some age-appropriate webcomics?  Some of my favorite webcomics (such as 8bit Theatre and Goblins) have content I would not want to expose a 5th grader to.

Bonus points if the language is simple, but the most important thing is content that is okay for children.  Suggestions?

For Shaggy's treason against Pie and Democracy, he shall be sentenced to a miserable punishment for this heinous crime.

Site News / Getting married!
« on: May 22, 2009, 12:13:27 AM »
So, I'm getting married this summer and all, and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anyone.  So, if you're one of the many TWG folks I know, and you'd like to come to our reception this August in Reno, please let me know.

And does anyone have Brandon's mailing address?  He doesn't touch these forums much anymore, and I'd like to make sure I send him an invitation.

If it's in the "other" category, or a broad group like African, please share!

Music / Korean Music
« on: April 23, 2009, 07:08:48 PM »
So, I've learned a few things about Korean Music:
1.  While all the stuff I was finding 5 years ago was crappy Ballad-y stuff, alot more of the popular newer stuff sounds a lot like JPop.  It's generally not original, but at least it sounds good.
2.  The very best Korean artists (such as BoA and DBSK) sing in Japanese and Chinese as well.  This is not true of the best Japanese and Chinese artists.
3.  Koreans like inventing English words and using them to title their songs/albums.  Examples:  Toucholic, Rainism, Mirotic, Mollaing (몰라ing), etc.
