Everything Else / With reverence we remember. . .
« on: September 11, 2009, 05:02:09 PM »
So once again we find ourselves remembering this day and all those we have lost. We remember the ongoing conflicts that were spawned on that awful day eight years ago. Although I did not loose anyone on that day I feel like I owe those who were lost. I owe the soldiers who have given their lives for this country in the name of this struggle. Political beliefs are irrelevant on this day. Today is a day for remembrance. Remember that we as a country were forever changed on this day. If you find yourself around a flag today take some time to really look at it and what it really means. 9-11 will live on in our hearts and although the patriotism that followed that fateful day was bound to fade, remember that it is also in our hearts always.

Rants and Stuff / Why I belong on Jerry Springer.
« on: January 08, 2009, 10:25:13 PM »
So lately I have been involved with a female that I like a good amount. It sparked some disturbing realizations in my head and I figures I would share them with everyone. It might make everyone feel a little bit better about them selves knowing a little bit more about me.

So I guess I will start with saying that I don't enjoy relationships. The longest one I have ever had was about nine months and that happens to be how long it took for my daughter to be born. There is just something about spending time with a woman on a personal level that I find irritating. That's not to say I don't like women, its just saying that I don't like to spend time with them. I know that's shallow and wrong but its true. I guess you can say that I have "flexible morals" and you will find out why if you continue reading.

I have found that the only time that I am interested in persuing a relationship with a woman is when she is unattainable. In the past I have "dated" a number of girls who have already been in a relationship. I don't know why, I just have. The mother of my daughter was actually just out of a year long relationship with someone I knew very well three days before she became pregnant. I got out of Army training and within three days she was pregnant. Before her the last girlfriend I had had also been dating someone when we first started seeing eachother. Since then I have only been interested in two girls. That means that I actually wanted to spend time with them instead of other things. Both of these girls have been "unattainable". The first one I met a month before she was going home to Ireland. We saw eachother a lot over that month and I liked her a lot. Then she moved back home.

Now I find myself in the same old predicament. I have been "seeing" this girl for about a month and a half now and she has a boyfriend. You would think this effects my selfesteam but it doesn't. It doesn't bother me at all really. I like her and we hang out a lot and talk all the time. You would think it would effect my morals, being involved with someone who is in a relationship. But then again I don't care. The way I see it is that she was the one who entered the committed relationship with this guy. I never committed anything to him so I'm not really wrong. No matter how many people tell me I am wrong anyway it still has no effect.

So in the end I have relized that I only want to be around girls who are with someone. No matter how much I hate drama I seem to go right for it. I can't explain to you why, I just do. These are reasons why I belong on Jerry Springer. All of these stories have many interesting details that I have left out but they are all the same in many ways.

Webcomics & Free Stuff / What 8-bit Theater character are you???
« on: December 19, 2008, 01:51:00 AM »
Well I'm sure someone figured this might happen. We can all thank our friend Eerongal for starting the thread about 8-bit theater. Since that day I have read 336 episodes of 8-bit theater and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. So at this point I am aware that out of 1070 episodes I haven't even gotten half way. I am also aware that I may not have been introduced to all of the characters as of yet. So If I miss any please inform me because I'm not worried about spoilers. This comic is so funny that it wouldn't bother me. So without further ado, I present to you the poll for which 8-bit character are you.

Everything Else / Ring Tones
« on: December 10, 2008, 04:15:28 AM »
So I know that this might be stupid but then again I am often stupid so it doesn't bother me.

I have been tooling around on a website called www.zedge.net looking for good ring tones. I currently have the theme for Ninja Turtles for my main ring and Fresh Prince for my txt tone but I like to mix things up.

I wanted to start this thread to allow others to have some input on some wacky or funny or just plain awesome ring tone ideas to keep me going. It would also be a place for future reference in case anyone else has the affliction of habitually changing their ring tone.

Rants and Stuff / Union V Confederacy
« on: December 10, 2008, 02:16:38 AM »
So this is from the point of view of someone who grew up in the north east and doesnt quite understand some things. Ok so all of you who are not from the south, yet have visited there have seen this or experienced it to some degree. What I am talking about is southerners who for some reason, god knows why still represent the confederacy.

Ok so for a conflict that took place almost 150 years ago this is a little ridiculous. Now mind you I don't really care too much but I just want to know if anyone can tell me why. Why when I go anywhere south of Delaware am I known as a "Yankee"? Why do southern people still fly the confederate flag? I mean other than the obvious racist people because some of those who fly the flag are not racist.

I mean I spent a couple of months living at an army base in South Carolina and once I left the post I saw more confederate flags than American flags. And if you think I'm kidding I'm not. Its almost like they are more proud of that flag than our country's flag. Now I am not trying to say they are not patriotic I again am just lost. I mean every time I meet someone with a southern accent I don't start calling them confederates.

Please, if anyone can clarify this for me please try. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here but I don't think so.

Alright so this thread is inspired by Darxbane. In one of the other threads he offered his gamertag up for anyone interested in meeting him on Xbox Live. He also listed a couple of games he might be playing for those interested in joining. I also did the same but It gave me the Idea to start a thread so people could list their names and make it easy for us to interact a little more.

Any one who wants to play Halo3 or Call of Duty World at War or even Gears of War2 on Xboxlive hit me up on the name GREENMONSTA187. Most likely I will be playing Halo3 but I do play the others as well.

Everything Else / Whay you do and why you hate it!
« on: November 06, 2008, 03:08:42 AM »
So I am aware of a few of the posters on this forums profession but I figured it would be nice to have one thread where people can post what it is we do for a living and then why we dislike it. Now I know not everyone dislikes what they do but we all have things about work that we cant stand. Even the person who loves their job finds something to hate about it. So why not tell us all about it and we can all feel better about our jobs when we read about eachothers.

For instance I actually have three jobs.

A -  I'm a full time security supervisor at a major sports apparel's corporate headquarters
B -  Part time auto mechanic
C -  Mechanic with the Army National Guard

Let me whine about A and maybe another time I will get into the other two. Being involved in any kind of corporate security is probably one of the most boring things a person can do. I mean I honestly get paid to sit in a room and watch 72 different cameras around this property and monitor employees and visitors. Now don't get me wrong every now and then a fire alarm goes off or someone falls down and I have something "real" to do for all of five minuets but other than that I really just want to learn how to tie a noose most of the time. The worst is how some of the people treat you. I mean I'm almost positive that I'm a person. I mean I think I am but sometimes I don't really know. I mean when someone comes in and treats you like your some tool at their disposal its kinda degrading. Ok well I have lots more on this subject but I will leave it up to anyone else who wants to spew.

Even you students have things to throw in here so don't be shy.

Rants and Stuff / Gay rights
« on: October 31, 2008, 07:45:49 PM »
Listen this is continued from Grumpy Bear thread. I am not a leader in the gay rights movement. I dont see why the government should have any say in the matter. I mean honestly isnt there such a thing a separation of church and state? Why should the government allow certain things for heterosexuals and not homosexuals? How is that in any way right. Ok I get the fact that you at the same time think homosexuality is wrong but you dont dislike it. Alot of people are in the same boat. The thing is why are you any better than them? Who are you to have more rights than they? I honestly think that we as American citizens have the right to be EQUAL in every way. Not forced equality like Communism but the availability of equality. How could you tell a homosexual couple that your "family" was better than his/hers? Could you do that with a clean conscious? I for one hope not. The government has no right allowing some accepted group of people rights and denying those same rights to others with sexual orientation as the only driving factor. Ok the idea of marriage has been declining at a fairly rapid rate, your right about that but so has the christian religion as a whole. What if there was a religion out there that allowed gay marriage? Why would you say then? I only wonder. I dont mean to be one sided here seeing how im a hetero-sexual male but come on. There isnt one American who deserves more rights than any other.

Video Games / Halo 3 Recon
« on: October 22, 2008, 12:56:18 AM »
Ok so if you still play Halo 3 on-line then you know what this is to some degree. For those of you who don't know Bungie is in the process of creating a new game based on the halo world. It is a FPS and is supposed to take place between Halo2 and Halo3. You do not play as the Master Chief but as a Recon Marine. Now I for one have been a Halo player since day 1 with Halo Combat Evolved. I was not a Halo2 enthusiast, I thought the gameplay was horrible and to rough. The dual wielding wasnt perfected yet and the weapons were sub-standard. Halo 3 corrected all of my problems and effectively combined the positives of both Halos 1 & 2. Now this new game will most likely be based of the same game play as Halo 3 seeing how it is part of the name. I have some draw backs as not playing as Master Chief because who knows what kind of handicap that will place on the player. I figured I would start this thread to open up the discussion. I've noticed that most gamers on TWG are not so console friendly so this may die fast but who knows.

Rants and Stuff / Darn why dont people post while im at work?
« on: September 20, 2008, 03:15:30 AM »
Come on guys. All I ask Is to go to work and sit at the security console, while I'm sitting there I would enjoy it if other people on this site would actually post. I feel lonely. I mean between 1900 and 2300 Eastern Standard time there is barely any action out here. Give me a break. I know, if you read this you will bet thinking "too bad" or "what should I go on TWG at that time just to amuse GreenMonsta" To the people who think of the first I say for shame. And to the second I think it would be nice of all of you to come visit me on TWG between the specified times. I mean I sit here and read a book and refresh the page every like 15 min.s to check on new posts but there is a lack of action. And I cant really find anywhere else where I even want to attempt being a member. Nothing else that interesting. Come on.

I will whine about this.

Oh Trust me I will whine and whine

And if I don't get my way. . .

I guess I'll just stop whining and move on. But still maybe we should start a thread where people can post what times they are usually on. I mean we will know its flexable but I'm sure most of us are on around a similar time at least once a week. At least then I can expect people not to be on instead of hoping to find any other stragglers.

Brandon Sanderson / What MB character are you and why?
« on: September 19, 2008, 03:26:34 AM »
So I often think about, if I had the opportunity to be one of the characters in the Mistborn series who would I be and for what reason. I mean Sure they all have their ups and downs and I'm sure we have all thought about it a time of two so why not throw it out there and see who you would be.

I for one wish I thought enough about myself to pick Kell but I'm a little more realistic and I don't think I'm that much of a genius. So I would pick Elend, I wouldn't even pick him because of what happens at the end of MB2, I think I would pick him because even though he doesn't always know what hes doing he knows why hes doing it. He does what he believes in and I like that. That's something I think I could get behind.

Rants and Stuff / One hurt Patriots fan (Crying)
« on: September 11, 2008, 01:19:51 AM »
I've wanted to start a rant for some time but I didn't have anything worth talking about until now. Now I'm not sure if anyone will even comment due to the lack of sports on this forum so I guess ill see how it goes.

COME ON! I mean really? Now understand that I'm from the greater Boston area were your either a sports fan or your a . . .   well i don't know but most of us are sports fans. Now with our recent run of luck in the past eight or nine years or so we have become used to winning. This isn't necessarily the best thing but its a reality. We went so long having the worst football team, a good baseball team that never won and a basketball team that used to be great but hasn't been good for twenty years, (this excludes the Bruins) to one of the most successful cities in major sports since the millennium. That kind of swing would effect anyone. So anyway this season for the Patriots was the most disappointing thing I have ever seen, and trust me after last years superbowl that's saying a lot. So here comes Tom Brady arguably the best QB of all time coming off the statistically best season of any QB ever to save the day and bring the Pats back to the superbowl and win this time. "SpyGate" is as in the past as it can be and we now have the motivation to show everyone that we're the best once again. This is all until sweet little Tom Brady goes down in the first quarter of the first game against a team that the Pats were projected to destroy.  (Crying in agony)

How do we go on? Do we hope that somehow lightning will strike twice and Matt Cassell will turn out to be an amazing quarterback just like Tom did when he came off the bench? Or  do we hope against hope that this team can hold out the season with maybe 5 losses and possably make the playoffs. If that happens every Patriots fan in New England will be hoping that they see Tom Brady on the field for the late games. Who knows with a torn ACL no one knows. So I write this in complete and utter agony all the while knowing that Brady or not, I will suffer through the season watching the team I love attempt not getting smoked entirely be the whole league.

Rants and Stuff / Help this slow person
« on: September 10, 2008, 12:23:04 AM »
You know, I've been a member of this forum for about two months now and I still haven't figured out the who avatar thing. Now I know I've asked for assistance before and a couple of posters were kind enough to attempt assistance but as of yet I still haven't figured it out. Now right off the bat I'm gonna let you know that before my activity on this site my on line activity was minimal. Maybe the occasional google or mapquest (prior to my GPS) and that's about it. So when the site tells me to verify my avatar by URL I really don't have a clue as to what this means. I went to that my page thing and created a profile and from there I'm stuck. I know it may be irritating but I would really appreciate it if someone would maybe instruct me on how to go about doing this the right way. In laymans terms if possable. Any assistance is welcome.
