Brandon Sanderson / Re: Spook's Eastern Slang

Spook talks to Bel-whatsit about it, explains that "wasing" goes at the front of a sentence, though I see above that a subject can precede it.  I would be interested in learning more, if anyone finds the Q&A.

Movies and TV / Re: Best Adam Sandler Movie

Am I a snob if I say Punch Drunk Love?
No, only if you say Spanglish.

Spanglish was amazing.  But I do respect a division between and Adam Sandler movie and a movie that Adam Sandler was in.  Does the Wedding Singer qualify on that line?  It doesn't have Rob Schneider in it making Adam look classy by comparison.

I thought it took the worst of the books and made it the best of the movies... quite a feat.  Well, no, I forget that 3 was really very awesome.  It made me want to look up the director's filmography and watch some of his other stuff.

Eric James Stone / Re: Screenplay formatting

I copied a format from a script for the Hudsucker Proxy I was able to find online a few years ago.  I was trying to do the 7 page script contest for the LDS film festival, which is pretty brutal.  Haven't been back.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Favorite Authors...Where does Brandon Rate?
« on: August 04, 2009, 06:45:00 AM »
I'm not a very big reader, and very much less of a fantasy reader, but here goes:

1.  Orson Scott Card
2.  Laura Ingalls Wilder
3.  Fyodor Dostoevsky
4.  Jane Austen
5.  Leo Tolstoy
6.  Brandon Sanderson
7.  J.K. Rowling
8.  Frank Herbert

Actually, this is probably the list of authors who've ever induced me to read more than one of their books.  The upside of being so picky is I've honestly never read any Stephanie Meyers.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: If Mistborn was a movie. . . .

Vin could either go in the Summer Glau or Kiera Knightley direction, Glau being more like Vin and Knightly being more like Valette.  Too bad Helena Bonham Carter is not a kid anymore, she could have nailed it both ways.

I can't really think of who would be a good Kelsier.  Tom Cruise has the charisma, but his physique is pretty wrong.  John Travolta is a little too old.  But no accident I'm thinking of the scientologists.  Karl Urban is another thought.  I liked the Nathan Fillion suggestion as well, though it would be weird if he were opposite Glau.

I thought of Elend as a younger Johnny Depp, thinking of a guy who could pull off reading at a ball.  I'm not really up on who would be age appropriate currently.

Michael Cera as Spook.

Edit:  I just realized who the cover art looks like:  Jennifer Connelly.  But I'm not sure she could pass for 16, and not sure about her acting range either.
