Yeah... I kind of figure the next "bump" is going to be Para giving her a shiny gun ship to pilot... I mean, which would you rather have, a bus or a gun ship? Although with a gun ship and that cool visor, she might decide to head out on her own again... Not sure which way I think it will go.

As her gun swings up...

That Kathryn is such a sweet thing!

Any bets as to whether she joins the Toughs or not?

Aha! Thanks. It was pretty clear what was meant from context, but the word felt as if it might have a real-world base, so I went hunting. Now why does Howard Tayler know Brazilian Portuguese? Is this part of your secret life, Howard?  :o

Thanks for 'splaining that.

Caxiao means "coffin" in Portuguese, at least as spoken in Brazil.

It also more generally means "container," so it's a bit more like the English word "casket."  I imagine linguistic drift and merge giving us this word for the tiny, bed-only hotel rooms like they have in Tokyo.

No, no, computers prefer electricity :-)

Read all about it! Schlock Universe goes wiki!

http://ovalkwiki.com/Welcome

Howard's going to blog about it soon, but... go take a look. And add your two cents!

Because only you can make the wiki go wild!

How do I read Schlock Mercenary? Let me count... nah. I just bring them up daily in my browser. At noon, right now (I live in Japan). Nice chuckle before lunch. Or after lunch, for part of the year. But I read them  day by day.

It does make you wonder what the difference is between genuine imitation and imitation imitation.

I'm pretty sure it's the calories. It always comes back to the calories.

In particular, the "Genuine Imitation" part always gets a chuckle from me. I do wonder occasionally what Schlock would think of the original, non-imitation type...

Ah, but the story is good! Thanks!  ::)

So his eyes were in the last place he looked, but not a bag.

Singing
60 bags of Schlock around Haven Hive, 60 bags of Schlock,
you take one down and open the bag,
59 bags of Schlock around Haven Hive. Oh, oh, oh...

No real idea. Just poking at google trying to find out. Seems to be from Brazil, but you're right, that could easily be a native language, too.
