Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon Book List
« on: July 15, 2010, 04:29:25 AM »
at least one of the things the people fight went into the Way of Kings.

Now that is very interesting to me. i don't remember them fighting anything but the shadow creatures, but i don't see how that would transfer to WoK... possibly the Gol?
As for response times, when i wrote Brandon and asked for Aether of Night, i got it within a week i believe. of course that was a couple years ago, so he's probably much busier now...

for that matter neither are White Sand or Aether of Night. i may be wrong, but i don't believe Aether of Night will ever be published as is. i think it was subjected to some Brandon-cannibalism and the magic, at least in part, was adopted to liar of partinel. i may be wrong though.

I believe they are refering to a book called Scribbler in which the magic has to do with chalk. if you dig deep enough through the forum you should be able to find the first few chapters, though of course they would be the first few chapters as of several years ago. Still, i think its very interesting and would be happy to read the rest of it.

Miranda Cosgrove could be a good Vin once her hair was chopped.

no no no no. she cannot act and is no where near mature enough for the part.
i liked the idea of someone like Emily Browning playing Vin.
and isn't Kelsier supposed to be blonde? in my mind Viggo Mortensen fits the part very well.
And I like the idea of James Callis as the Lord Ruler. seems like a very good pick.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hoid Compendium :: Spoilers
« on: February 14, 2010, 09:42:22 PM »
I was there for both readings on friday and now i am so incredibly excited for this book.  The Hoid section was the epilogue? that's kinda strange. but it was cool! it didn't seem to give much of anything away. brandon stopped reading just before something particularly important happened. for the most part [REDACTED] just talked about the world pissing on itself, ominous noises, and what mankind values most.  the most entertaining section he read though was about a man waking up naked in an alley and his interactions with the insane man who lived in the alley with his tubers. VERY funny stuff.

Brandon actually talked about those Jim Butcher books in his class last thursday. supposedly they came about because of an argument Butcher was having with someone about the importance of ideas. in order to prove that having amazing ideas isn't as important as being a good writer, Butcher challenged this person to give him the two worst ideas he could think of and he would write a story about it. the two ideas were a lost roman legion and Poke'mon.

i just read the words "Axehound and Sky Eel" and i am now even more anxious to read WoK.

now for my fandomness...
I have signed copies of all of Brandon's books other than the GS, which i'm still working my way up the series for.
I was the first person (on this forum at least) to theorize figure out that Vin's earring was a spike.
I've read Aether of Night and Dragonsteel, along with everything posted on his website
I have brought over twenty people to the knowledge and fandom of Brandon
My copy of mistborn is falling apart from being loaned so many times.
I have Brandon's cell phone number (yeah, i know that sounds stalker-like. oh well)

Brandon Sanderson / Re: **SPOILERS! The Shards of Adonalsium
« on: December 18, 2009, 09:29:21 AM »
you are assuming a shard can only combine with one other shard at a time to create a magic system. so far we have not really had thoroughly explained instances of more than two shards operating on a planet at one time.  is it possible that three shards could combine to form one magic system?
