Post by: lordofsoup on January 03, 2011, 05:15:27 PM
Since both are so similar, I had to ask.  Are they more than coincidences?

I don't think so. Kalads the old kingdom in Warbreaker, right?

i know that, but they seem too similar to be unrelated somehow.  That is the sort of thing that an editor is for.  BS has to have known about it.

Kaladin's name wasn't originally Kaladin, you know.  His original name was changed because it was too close to some WoT name.

Also,

*** Warbreaker spoilers ***

Kalad was an alternate name for Vasher.  Or perhaps I should call him Warbreaker?

I don't really see a connection here.

Merrin was Kaladins original name, and was both to feminine and to alike to Perrin. But, they probably are unrelated.
