Elaine Cunningham.

The Starlight and Shadows trilogy: Daughter of the Drow, Tangled Webs, and Windwalker.

Songs and Swords: Elfshadow, Elfsong, Silver Shadows, Thornhold, The Dreamspheres. I've only read the first two books, but am assured that the others in the series are also well-done.

I also enjoyed City of Splendors, which she co-authored with Ed Greenwood.

Elaine Cunningham is awesome, but Ed Greenwood is better. Read the Elminster series. It's fantastic.

I had fun with the Greenwood books, but even so I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. :)
