So I know this girl (in fact I'm going to a dance with her next week, don't ask me why a college has a Valentine's Dance idk) and she likes fantasy mixed with romance, my understanding is she prefers semi-light reads (not hardcore stuff BSG likes i.e. Erickson which is so complex it can become muddled) and I think she would like Brandon's work. Should I get her Elantris or Final Empire.

Elantris.

Elantris is more upbeat than Mistborn, which probably fits a bit better to the idea of a "light read", even though neither is really the short, humourous type of novel she may be referring to by that term.

I honestly think Warbreaker is a better introductory Brandon work, as its prose is a notch above Mistborn (and Mistborn was itself an improvement on Elantris). So from that standpoint, Warbreaker would be good. Though I can't notch Elantris, considering that's what hooked me on Brandon's work.

For the person you describe, I would recommend Warbreaker as well.

Out of the two choices I would recommend Elantris(though I agree with you guys on Warbreaker).

I didn't put Warbreaker as an option b/c it isn't in paperback. Also she didn't say light read but she from what she reads (Harry Potter etc.) it's what I consider a light read, but then again i read Erickson and his ilk.

Warbreaker comes out in paperback in March... (don't know if you can wait until then, but just a heads up... I marked it in my planner. ;D)
I would recommend Elantris... and then in a couple of months, if she likes Elantris, you can pick up that Warbreaker paperback for her and she'll know you're still thinking about her. ;)
