What is it?  I can't really tell.  Like is it an RTS?

It's like a strategy-type game based on supply and demand. You take turns with the other players/computers building factories, and then go to auction off your goods. It's pretty simplistic game-play wise, but that's because it was originally made back on the atari and NES (and a few other systems, like the commodore 64).

Most the goods have different gameplay factors. Food, for example, if a player has food in short supply, they have less time to take their turn, power shortage and their factories operate at lesser efficiency.

I played MULE when I was younger. I still find myself humming the theme music every now and again. Must have really been catchy to stick with a guy for 20 years. :D
