I just recently picked up the complete series Firefly on DVD. I just thought I'd see what everyones opinion on that show was. Short lived as it was I think it was perhaps the best series I have ever had the joy of watching, not to mention and full length picture named Serenity that was amazing. I loved the characters and the interaction between them, the dialog, the gritty action and comedy all twirled into one fantastic package. Well enough of my strange obsession with the show, how about your thoughts?

I think it's fantastic. It did push the edge of what we thought was acceptable content, but it turns out the episode we turned off in the middle got much better from that point on rather than worse. And I have to agree with Scott Card about the movie.
There are other threads about it though.

Firefly was supposed to be our next great sci-fi series, and instead it gets canceled.
Serenity is, and will be for the foreseeable future, one of my favorite movies.

I love Firefly and Serenity, my husband and I have watched both the series and movies multiple times. I basically love anything Joss Whedon. His writing and directing is awesome.

I am a HUGE fan! I'm not a collector of DVD's but that is one thatI bought to watch again and again... My fav episodes have to be "shindig" and "our Mrs. Reynolds" (and the one with the whores.. mostly because of Jayne) we always quote going to the "special hell, reserved for child molesters and people who talk to loud at movies." I'm glad to be among fans :D ;D

the movie was just superb, they killed main characters and it was as realistic as you can get for a space cowboy movie.
Nathan Fillion has a special place reserved in my fandom just for him because of Firefly. Very few actors or actresses can say that ;)
I will watch nearly anything he is in. Including those horrible episodes of Desperate Housewives. and Castle is now one of my favorite shows.

I love Firefly and Serenity!! I've seen both three or four times. I'm so sad they cut it off at only 14 episodes or so :( I could watch it forever!

I'm watching for the first time right now and this show is great. I can't believe it was cancelled. They are running it on The Science Channel, 10pm on Sunday nights.

They keep talking about a reboot, but I think it's never going to happen. Has anyone read the comic books? Are they any good?

just watched it because they talked in writing excuses so often about this series. and they were right - itīs really good dialog.
loved the scene "psychic? thatīs sounds like science fiction!" - "honey we are in a spaceship! XD
itīs a good story and nice idea for a tv series (sci-fi+western) . sad, that it didnīt work.
they could have done better in many things. for example the title sequence is awful and makes it cheesy and i didnīt like the cast much.
but the production design is done wonderful! and the costume design itīs bad at all too.
