Title: Mistborn One For Sale!
Post by: EUOL on January 03, 2008, 04:56:59 AM
We've just updated the store to finally begin selling signed, personalized copies of MISTBORN.  They're going for $20 right now as a sale, and we'll up them to $25 next month.  They'll stay there until the stock starts to dwindle, and then I'll probably raise it up to the cover price.

Anyway, I know a lot of readers have asked me if I'd ever be doing this.  I thought I'd make a forum thread to let those who visit here, but don't often check my site, know that the sales are up and running.

Also, I have a request.  We needed to put a section on that allows someone to give me signing instructions, so I can know what name to write in the book.  (If any.)  We THINK we got it on right.  If anyone here is thinking of buying copies of the book, would you post here if you were able to find the signing instructions box?  Thanks!

All Ready Ordered My Copy :D
I also sent an e-mail saying I didn't see a comment box and just e-mailed my signing request. Hope that was ok.

Unfortunately there's not much I can do to make it more visible so hopefully people do start to notice it.

Okay, I'm going to have to eat a lot of mac and cheese over the next few weeks to try and save up before the month ends.

Will you be doing this for Well of Ascension as well? Also, does this include Canada [or international in general] or is it US only? I'll even pay you in Canadian dollars if you'd like. :P

We have shipping options for Canada, and Paypal will do the currency conversion for you.

Whether we'll do this with other books depends on several factors, one of which is how well this MB1 books sell.

Well, it was like a sign for above, for this book.

I had lost mine, recently. Usually it happens during major project week or finals week, or just major stress week for me. I leave things everywhere. Pens, pencils, textbooks, binders, Mistborn.

I was really sad.

And I've been waiting to buy another one, holding off, really.

I dunno what I want you to sign on mine. I'll email you, I think. Mine is a very stupid email. [email protected]. So expect one.

Probably something that the kid who speaks funny says.

Damn, forgot his name.

The tin guy?

Hmmmm...I wonder if I can convince my wife to let me purchase a copy.  It's for a good cause, right?

The T-Shirts are up, but we haven't done a full launch for them.  I want to actually post pictures up so you can see what's on them, then put up better descriptions.  We'll do an official launch on them eventually.

yeah, the pictures would be a great idea. From the main shop page I have to follow three or four links to see a picture big enough to understand what I'm getting.

Yes, Spook.

I would know his name, if I had the book.

I never figured out why Kel nicknamed him Spook.  Did I miss something or am I completely oblivious (both which amount to the same thing).

Hi.

I ordered a copy and had no trouble finding the signing instructions box.   :-X  Now I'm just eagerly waiting for my book to arrive.

Hey, if any of you order books and miss the "Signing Instructions" box (which I think you have to click before it will let you input anything) just email me with instructions.  It's tough to find that box, and I wish Paypal had a better way of making it obvious.

Ha.  Probably not.  I've already got ONE free book, after all.

I'm planning to do some sort of contest where I give away posters, though.  Maybe I'll throw in some hardbacks as potential prizes then, too.

It won't be for a while yet, though.  I was going to run it in May (since Mistborn 3 was scheduled for June) but Mistborn 3 getting pushed back means I'm going to push back the contest.  (Right now, I'm planning it to be "Get someone else to read one of my books, and I'll put your name into the drawing" sort of thing.)

This is fantastic.  Do most authors do stuff like this for their fans?

Too bad Mistborn 3 is delayed.  What am I going to do during the long months until it is released?  Oh, I guess I'll just read the first two over and over and over again. :P

Not sure if others do it, honestly.  A lot of people asked me about it, though, so I went ahead and set up the infrastructure.

Because there appears to be interest in this, I just put in an order for ELANTRIS in hardcover.  I found a pile of them at a warehouse, and since I'm incorporated and have a business tax ID, I was able to buy them.

It will take weeks for them to get here, though.  I'm afraid they were much more expensive than MISTBORN, since I could buy that one from Tor, and so I'll probably sell these at $20 too, even though they have a lower cover price than MISTBORN.  They'll also probably have remainder marks (a little dot on the top or bottom of the book) but I figured that it would be a good idea to pick them up.

Sounds cool.  What kind of posters are they?

Mistborn 2 cover posters.  Nice ones with foam backs to keep them stiff, like a display poster you'd see in a bookstore.
