Title: Just finished Mistborn
Post by: Pink Bunkadoo on June 24, 2007, 11:03:37 PM
I enjoyed it a lot!  (I thought that bit about "Ahlstrom square" was completely unrealistic, though   :P )  Got a question--where do the mistcloaks come from?  Do people make their own?  When Kelsier gave Vin her cloak I kind of expected him to say something about who had made it.

I also have an urge to ask how there can be fruits and vegetables with no flowers.

And I feel compelled to work "maladroitly" into casual conversation.

I considered the fruits and veggies question, and decided that if there were a being who could remake the world as he wished, he could come up for a way for that all to work without flowers.  Remember, plants and the like in thee final empire are more hardy, yet have a tougher time reproducing.  People included.

As for mistcloaks, they come from the same 'specialist' merchants who make their living selling metal dusts and vials with suspended solution to Allomancers.  I don't talk a lot about them in the book; they're a very secretive class of people who observe strict 'non-disclosure' policies so that Allomancers can buy from them and maintain their secrecy.

That makes sense!  Thanks!
