Let's keep any discussion specific to our TWG WoW guild on this thread. Coordinating playtime/quests, asking for help, offering spare items, etc.

Everyone who's started a new character on Nath should have gotten 10 gold and four 16-slot bags to start you off. If you haven't yet, please let me know. And on that note, for those of us with characters 60+ and in Outlands, we can still use your netherweave to make more bags! :) Most everyone is outfitted, but I know of at least three alts (my mage, Chimera's hunter, and my roommate's priest) that don't have bags yet. Thanks to everyone who's been sending their netherweave, it really helps a lot with all the new people coming in.

It's only been a week or so and I've already had fun playing with all the TWG people. I hope everyone feels welcome and is having a good time.

I don't have cool netherweave bags yet, I'm scraping by on 6-slot abominations.

And may I say that having everyone on the same realm is a blast. If we'd started this a year ago, I would never have let my account lapse.

So what are good talents for a hunter?
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Fellfrosch on March 22, 2007, 06:17:06 PM
Dancing, whistling, and balancing things on your nose. Unless you mean in-game, in which case I can't help you. We need to get Micah on to give you advice--his hunter is the envy of the entire realm.

Apparently Blizzard is doing 10 free trials to whom ever wants them, so if anyone on TWG wants to try goto https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/10dayfreetrial.htm and you can get a free account for 10 days and join those on TWG playing.

I have a hunter, so I have a quiver in one bag slot, so I have a spare bag I can send to someone. Leave me a message and I will make sure that the bag makes its way to you :)

I believe Gemm is still a couple bags short of his 4. You can send it to Kaviopi if you want.

I only need one more. Otherwise, thanks for everything guys.

Also, what is everyone doing tomorrow night/evening/day? I've got tomorrow off so I'm looking to do some big questing or something.

Voice yourself!

Yes. I think we were tentatively planning on running the Wailing Caverns. But if you need help leveling, we could probably arrange that, too.

I really need to catch up to you guys.  I'm only a level 10 right now, and I need to go get my Voidwalker, then level like mad.  I'd love to do WC, but that's a what . . . level 18 dungeon?  It's been so long since I've leveled on Horde side--it goes much more slowly for me.  SE, is your trial account just for WoW, or does it include Burning Crusade, too?  Just wondering where you'll be leveling/what kind of character you'll have.

Post by: The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers on March 23, 2007, 07:00:06 PM
This I do not know. The information in the 10-Day trial pages is sketchy at best.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Tage on March 23, 2007, 07:16:14 PM
The trial does not include Burning Crusade. At least, I'm pretty sure it's the same trial it's always been.

Everyone, make sure to post the names of your characters (or your friend's) if they're not already on the first post. We're out of cloth for bags right now, but as we get more we can keep handing them out.

We don't know if we are doing WC tonight or tomorrow night. But, as Nessa pointed out to me a few minutes ago, we can run it both nights--we have enough people.

Wailing Caverns tonight with Fell, Gemm, myself, and Micah. Had a fifth named H___ (druid) who accused me of ninjaing everything. I can only blame that particular character trait learned from SE and his monkeys. Fortunately, Tage saved us when H____ bailed.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Tage on March 26, 2007, 04:42:57 PM
That was fun, I've never had to rush into a dungeon in the midst of a scripted event. And I even wandered around after WC cleared and got all my serpentbloom. Ninjar!

So Nessa, I've started putting points into protection, because I've always liked tanking. How are you planning to spec your paladin?

On the "playing WoW" front, I'm going to be moving over the next couple of weeks, so my playtime will be limited. I know some people are still missing bags, and I think I've got enough cloth for a couple more. Post here if you still need some bags.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers on March 27, 2007, 04:17:22 PM
obviously, I need some, but it's not like we can do anything about that right now.

Blazergith made 10th level last night. He took a talent that increased the damage his strikes do. I don't remember the name of it. It occurs to me though that I could use some advice on a good path to take talents for a rogue. And subclasses.

His only skill of note is first aid, which is at like, 60 I think. He's made many bandages.

so if I actually pay a monthy fee for this, what's the recommendation?

Cool. Stock up on fireoil (need firefin fish) for that potion that increase your fire damage. I can make some. But then again, can't your other char?

Use money. I doubt Blizzard is keen on bartering, and I hear they frown on "special favors," if you know what I mean.

I know most of us need WC again. Should we schedule a time to go? The only day I can't do it for certain is Friday. After about 9:30 or 10pm (MST) works best for me.

I'm supposed to be packing and moving stuff this week (and probably next week, I'm slow like that) so I really shouldn't be on WoW at all. I probably will be, but if you see me on you can reprimand me.

I am finally level 18, and should be moving up a bit by this weekend, so if you want to set a time Nessa I will try to make sure I am on so I can go with you. I am pretty open this weekend I think, so whenever you all can make a time :)

Can I just say how much I love the auction house?  I started this morning with 5g to my name--I'd already spent a chunk on some items to start on my tradeskills.  Now after a successful day of buying low and selling high, I'm up to over 50g.  Thanks again to the guild for giving me the gold--the hardest part's always getting enough to start buying the good items.  Auctioneer, works for me!

Yeah, you guys have to tell me around what time it is you normally get on, since I'm a few hours ahead of ya'll. It's weird sitting here at 9/10 pm wondering where everyone is. Then realizing that it's not the same time for everyone else.

I think I'm not going to pay the monthly fee. I got to level 11 (and a half) in 3 or 4 sessions, but I only signed up for the social aspect, and I'm just not on when everyone else is. So.... Yeah.

I was on waaayyy late with Micah on Saturday, so I might not come on tonight. But then again.....who knows?

Thanks to Micah, I got 10+g from auctioning stuff I picked up in BFD (plus two quests) and Deamines. Yay! I'm halfway to level 26, at which time I can use my awesome new sword, and a 'crown' I picked up at the AH.

I am out of town until the end of this weekend, but my two chars--my 20 rogue and my 18 hunter--both still need to do WC runs. In general, I've been trying to get on at 10-11 pm MST (which is 9-10 pm in CA) when I want to play with everyone.

SE, I'll be sad to see you go, but I understand if you're not on when everyone else is and therefore it's not worth it. As far as rogue talents, my brother says if you want to be awesome at pvp you 31/3/27 is what you do (31 corresponding to the first column, which is assasination, and putting your points in there first). I've done combat so far, myself, because I want to be good fighting monsters and instances (I hate player vs. player). I've been on earlier in the days in the past, but my new resolve is to limit it to evenings, and every other day or so, so I'm doing it for the social aspect and not playing obsessively.  ;)

I'll be back by Friday. I'd love to do a WC run Saturday night, later, if other people want to plan on that.

Hello everyone, this is Micah.  Yes, I DO have a TWG account if you can believe it.  Anyway, just wanted to let you know the names of my many alts so you can look me up if you log in as I will normally not be playing my TWG toons.

Talos (my 'main') 70 orc Hunter (Marksman spec)--375 miner, 360 engineer
Fiera 62 Undead Mage (Fire spec)--360 tailor, 345 enchanter
Sanjar 66 Troll Priest (Shadow spec)--350 Jewelcrafter, 375 Herbalist
Rhuine 64 Tauren Warrior (Protection spec)--330 Weaponsmith, 325 Miner
Sesino 62 Undead Rogue (Combat/dagger spec)--320 Skinner, 325 Herbalist
Brujo 46 Troll Shaman (Enhancement/Dual wield spec)--300 alchemist, 275 Herbalist
Naerom 50 Tauren Druid (Feral spec)--315 Tribal Leatherworker, 250 skinner
Dred 23 Blood Elf Warlock (Demonology spec)--45 Enchanter, 145 Skinner *in TWG guild*
Hrathen 6 Blood Elf Paladin (will be DPS spec)-- will be an armorsmith/miner *in TWG guild*
Bullpie 2 Tauren Warrior--just a bank character, but i thought i'd list him

As you can see I not only like leveling different toons, I enjoy crafting so I can probably help out with any crafting needs or questions you might have.

Most of my toons are in a guild called 'Sanity'  with few in that same guild's previous incarnation 'Madness'  but, assuming people continue playing, I will probably move my lower level alts into TWG.

Since I missed last weekend, and have also not been playing much due to kids, husband, and life in general, I should be able to weasel some time to myself for that night if anyone wants to plan something. I am hoping to pull my hunter up past 18 before then, but time is limited with my husband back in school.

We had a good group Friday night. Did a WC run, and then three of us did SFK--my rogue, Nessa's pally, and one of Micah's higher chars. I got some good stuff.  ;D

I'm limiting my play time to weekends. I can get on next week on Saturday night, not Friday (plans). It'd be fun to do WC or SFK, I have chars that need both. Maybe we can plan for that. Any thoughts? Objections? Complaints? Compliments?

(I love compliments)  ;)

Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Chimera on April 11, 2007, 02:20:29 AM
Yeah, no prob, Dawn. Obviously, my reslove to play WoW only on the weekends was short-lived.  :P

I'm such an addict!!!

Aside from that, I've been wondering where we should focus our quests as we hit mid 20s and higher. Like before, I'm being prompted to go to Stonetalon, or Ashenvale, or Thousand Needles, or Hillsbrad. When I was solo, I did it in no particular order--but I wasn't questing with anyone. Since the real fun of the guild is being able to quest together, where do you all think we should focus of those four areas? Or are there specific quests chains we want to pick up?

Personally, I only go to Hillsbrad in the wee hours when no one else is on. There are always allies ganking during prime times. So I'm not a big fan of Hillsbrad. If we were all there together, though, that wouldn't be a problem.

And Tage--get you're computer fixed! You're missing out on all the fun.  ;)
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Gemm: Rock & Roll Star; Born to Rock on April 11, 2007, 02:41:36 AM
I would like Thousand Needles or Hillsbrad. Ashenvale is really dense and kind of confusing at some points. But I guess if we're in  a group that wouldn't be much of a problem.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Nessa on April 11, 2007, 04:31:42 PM
I have quests in both Hillsbrad and Thousand Needles, and am game for any of these areas. I'm real close to lvl 28.

I really hate Stonetalon Mountains, so I vote 'nay' for that area.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Tage on April 11, 2007, 04:44:39 PM
I'm a fan of Thousand Needles and Stonetalon, simply because alliance are much less frequent there.

Also, my computer is working, yay! I keep blowing power supplies for some reason...
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Chimera on April 11, 2007, 06:28:56 PM
Well, so far, the only area that everyone agrees on is Thousand Needles. I guess I'll focus on picking up quests there, and then do others depending on desire and who I'm questing with.

I'm actually playing less with my rogue (Zeliot, lvl 25) and more with my hunter (Kiimera, lvl 20) and my priest (Liliandra, lvl 12) so I don't get too far ahead, so there's still time to figure this all out.

And I'm still tentatively planning on a TWG guild SFK run on Saturday night...

I feel a bit sheepish. I won't be able to do it tonight, because by the time I get home it will be like 11 or 12, which is much too late for you guys. I forgot I made plans last week to go to a comedy show with my friend Katie--she just reminded me of it yesterday. Sorry!  :'(  (The show will be fun, I'm looking forward to it, just sorry I didn't realize the conflict sooner.)

I'll probably hang around on WoW Sunday and Monday night, hoping for an impromtu SFK run. If you guys have enough tonight, you should still do it.  :)

I will be on tonight regardless of whether anyone else is on, so I'll be available to help with quests. Maybe I'll be on Sunday night, after about 10pm.

I don't know if I've already mentioned this, but with the new patch notes announced, I'm really pumped about playing my druid and trying to get ready for the epic flight form quest. So while I DO like playing with TWG, I'll probably be on Cadamis for a while. I'll try to pick up the slack on Landsgrave when I have a chance.

On the other hand, I do have characters with a wide variety of level ranges. If we start getting people into the low 30s, maybe I'll just switch to my hunter.

Ugh. You start a guild and then leave us hanging!

Well I hit 30 this week (depsite creating a new toon, and trying my best efforts not to play Nessarose). So I've begun Thousand Needles. I'm sure at least one of Chimera's characters will be there soon, as will Dred. Unless Micah's busy with the epic flight stuff, too. So there should be a group of 30+ in the near future.

Dawn, I was thinking about 9pm (Mountain Standard Time). I'm flexible though.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW

C'mon, I played with you guys last night. :)
I'll probably just switch to my hunter from now on, so I don't have to try to catch up on Landsgrave. See, now I'm 4 levels ahead of you.

LOL!! That is logic for you :)

Sorry about yesterday Nessa, my dad came in from out of town unexpectedly, so I didn't do any playing. But I will try to do mornings this week. They are usually easier for me.

But then we won't be able to make fun of your effeminate BE character anymore.  :'(

Well, I'm sure we'll come up with something else to make fun of your hunter for, besides questionable sexual orientation or anime-style hair.  ;)

Fellfrosch--are you there? I know you got a new job...but don't give up on Kareyla or TWG!!! That goes for Gemm, Dawn, Parker, and any others with crazy schedules. We miss you all.  ;D

Black Fathom Deep

Edit: Just FYI. I'm not playing much this week. Busy with a few things around here, plus am a little burned out from playing so much over the weekend. I will be back, soon, do not dispair! Rainmace needs RFC and WC (soon), so we should schedule runs soon.

How about this:

RFK Monday at 9ish (when Heros is over)

SFK Tuesday at 9ish (I'm babysitting my nephew til a little after 9)

BFD Wednesday at 8:30 or 9ish, depending on when people are on.

And those who can make it...come help the lowbies out! If you have an alt who needs it, then do those ones, then.

Nessa and Heather, you two should be getting a bunch of 14-slot bags from one of my guildies. He was clearing out his old bags and I figured you two could use them for alts.

Now if only I could get the bags back from people who joined TWG but them quit right afterward...

Don't forget Rainmace, who now has a good enough sword to dual weild with (I've been holding onto a mace for the off-hand...haven't found a better one yet).

We were going to do BFD for the lower lvls (Rainmace and Lilandria), but we can do SM with Nessarose and Zeliot instead. That actually sounds more fun. I'm a little tired of BFD.

Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Tage on May 11, 2007, 06:38:05 PM
Sadly, you're looking at increased gankage either way, although STV (as we call it) is *famous* for being a gankfest. Admittedly, no one's doing ZG anymore, so you aren't going to get random high-levels riding past you and stopping to squish you. The plus side of STV is that the quests are super-concentrated and you can knock them out quickly. Arathi is more spread out but will probably have less alliance around.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Nessa on May 12, 2007, 04:51:51 AM
OK, then I'll be in Arathi when I'm on my own, and will go to STV when you guys are on. Deal?

We need to schedule a SM run soon. When is everyone on? This weekend is bad, because it's Mother's Day and the family will be around. But later in the week I should be able to.

My brother has Ventrilo on his personal server, so we can use that, if we want. Especially if it's just me and Chimera playing. Next time I log, I can give the details. It's not often used, so we won't have other people to bother there.

He also has teamspeak.

My husband isn't sure about loading Vent onto our computer, but he said he would look into it. The guild I am in with my main is on Vent all the time and I feel like I should have it since they use it frequently for instances, dungeons and raids. But, hubby isn't sure about addons, so he will ultimately be the one that makes the decision. I will let you know soon though.

Also, are we still planning something for this evening? I should be available, and my toon is level 25, if that helps any.

WHAT?!!   :o    Fell is going to be on?!  Will miracles never cease?!

My main's guild is going to be raiding Gruul's Lair tonight, but we should be done by about 8:30pmish, so I'd be up for whatever after that.

Dawn:  I could be reading your post wrong, but to clarify, Ventrillo is NOT a WoW addon.  Its a separate program that runs independently of WoW, its used by MMORPG players of many different games.  Its  a harmless program and has a VERY small client so don't worry about it eating up hard drive space or using lots of RAM.  It can take a little help to set up if you aren't familiar with it, but Tage or I ought to be able to help you if you have a problem.  When we helped Nessa and Chimera set it up, we just had them call so we could talk them through it over the phone.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW

Thank you Nytwalker. I do know it isn't a WoW exclusive addon, I suppose I should have said that my husband doesn't like to add anything on to our computer. lol But, he has put it on there, and it does work for the main server that I play on, so it should be little effort to make it work with Nathrezim, is that right? Or will it already work with Nathrezim, or is it a different channel, or am I making this more difficult than it  is? I hope to see some of you on tonight after Heroes, of course. ;)

But I will still be on tonight. I'll just be listening, not talking, lol. And I will get the headset eventually. Then the question will be whether or not I can make it work...

Sometime, I'd like to run Liliandra and Rainmace through BRD. It was a fun instance I haven't done very much. I know it's low for you higher guys, but the only way I'm going to level my priest is by playing her! It would be good for Fell, too, I think--he's in mid-20s, right?

Weird child maladies. Who know where they come from?

I for sure will be on Wednesday-Friday evenings, since my husband will be working overnight those nights, if anyone wants to schedule an instance. I'm not going to bother because what I really want to do is lvl Nessarose, so I invite anyone to quest with me in STV or Swamp of Sorrows or Arathi Highlands. She's almost 38, which means two lvls from a mount! Woot! And with the help of Micah, made her very own Philosopher's Stone, which is way cool.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: dawncawley on May 22, 2007, 07:44:11 AM
Fell, I am glad he is feeling better. Hopefully the headaches are something that he grows out of. Migraines are nasty, evil, terrible things, especially for a child. Which is what that kind of sounds like, except for the part where it went away for ten hours then came back all of a sudden. I don't know what to make of that. Hopefully all goes well and the headaches stay away.

Nessa, I will try to be on sometime between Wednesday and Friday, but my hunter is way lower level than you, but I am up for exploring ;) I know I will be a bit of a liability, but if you want the company I am willing to come with you if we are online together.

I have been on sporadically the last two days, but never for very long. The weather has been super hot, and today went down about twenty degrees, but up in humidity. So, it has been icky. My point, I think, is that the kids are being more mommy intensive with the weather change, which in turn makes it harder for me to commit to a specific time to play. But, I have been trying more lately. :)

Hopefully, I may be able to try to catch up by Saturday, at least a level or two, and maybe have some time this weekend as well.

Well, there's a rumor going around that we may have suceeded in bringing another to the dark side.

Stacer has signed up for the free 10-day trial! *Squeeeee*

So, I told her I'd post my main characters so she could add them to her friends. Here they are:

Zeliot (40 rogue)
Liliandra (30 priest)

Then, just in case, I started a new character to quest *with* stacer, so she won't be lonely, and because I wanted to give the warrior class a try. Her name is Shahari and she's a blue troll. I'll put that like the others so it won't be missed:

Shahari (2 warrior)

As for the rest of you--it's only a matter of time until WoW gets you...
Dung dung DUNG!!!!

I'm sorry to hear it, despite having just made the same decision myself. I didn't mail stuff out, though--how selfish of me.

Just as you all get me into it, you're leaving? :( Actually, though, I can understand. I spent a lot of time on it in the last couple of weeks, and now I'm kind of WoW-ed out. I'll get on later this week and hopefully be able to quest with other people, but doing it alone isn't so interesting at this point.

It is much more fun when you can play with other people, Stacey, the problem we face is just getting people to same level so we can play together.

Nessa,  :'(  Just when we were getting to the fun stuff.  My guess is you guys decided it was just taking up too much time?  I can definitely understand that.  I'll throw in my 2 cents, then wish you luck:  Try setting either certain play times, or limiting the amount 0f hours you will play in a day or a week.  There is actually a built-in process for that in your account management (it will shut off the game once you have reached a certain amount of play time, however you set it up).  But, either way, we'll miss you!  My suggestion is you DO NOT sell your items or mail stuff away.  Just leave your account as it is, you may decide to pick it up again at some point and trust me, you do NOT want to start over.

LOL, Micah!

Yes, I'm bummed, too, but that's how it goes. I haven't been successful in limiting my time. That's a terrible thing about my personality, I let myself get obsessed and have to cut myself off in order to get back to normal. I'm convinced that if I weren't Mormon I'd be an alcoholic or druggie or something.

I deleted all my toons except for Nessarose, and sent all her stuff out to Chimera's toons (including about 60g+ worth of herbs). I didn't delete her, just in case we decide to come back in the future (I wouldn't count on it, though, my husband has much more self control than I do), and I'll keep her gear. Besides, she's an herb/alch, it won't be hard to build up her supply. I'll send out most of my gold to Chimera, too. That's something I can always build up, should I need to.

But, I should be available for an instance on Friday night when Mark is working. I don't think he'll cancel the account before then.

Man, you even deleted your toons?  I could never do that.  I've let my account go inactive a couple of times, sometimes for four or five months, but I've always kept the toons and stuff.  Deleting the toons . . . would feel like murder to me.  Maybe I take this game too seriously.  Then again, I haven't been on lately--too much happening in real life.  I'm sure Heather and Micah are up to like lever 89 by now, and your character was probably right there with 'em.  Sigh.  But it was worth it--I got an editor to ask for my whole novel, so that has to be worth at LEAST 5 levels right there.

Yes. The point of deleting the toons was to cut myself off. No temptation before we cancel the account. Nessarose is still there, though. I couldn't delete her if I tried.

I'm only at level 47! (Though, that is two levels higher than Micah, lol.)

But having an editor ask for your whole novel--that is awesome Bryce! Much better than 5 levels--even 10!!!

Nessa's incredible responsible-adultness has given me the resolve to play less and write more. I'm also joining the TWG writing group with that intent, since there aren't people HERE I can do a writing group with, and the only person here who I discuss my writing with is currently not talking to me. :P

I do play more when I'm not feeling well. Thus, why I leveled twice yesterday. As I get more consistently healthy, I imagine I will only play a few nights a week in the evenings, since the weeks when I was doing well, that was exactly what I did. My desire to play WoW < My desire to get out and be active/social--when I'm healthy. However, I do consider WoW to be social. Only way I get to hang out with certain people who are far away! Which is why I doubt I'll give it up completely.

We'd love for you to catch up, Bryce! And Einah and Stacy too--I like to help when I can. But I surely do love my lvl 47 pimped out, combat-speced rogue. Lately she's wearing an awesome red-and-black-leather outfit, including an awesome helmet Ben made for me that shoots a huge fireball (instant cast, too!). When I put the fiery daggers on, Zeliot looks like a Flaming Rogue of Death! :D

I love WoW. I can limit, but I don't think I can let go. Not right now, at least. ;)

Wow Nessa. Sorry you are going, but I do understand it. I haven't been on much as real life is in full swing with summer break and all, but I don't think I could close my account out, or delete toons. I still have level 6 and 7 alts that I never play, that I just can't seem to part with.

I am going to  try to be on for a bit this weekend, hopefully Friday for a last hurrah with Nessa, but I can't make any promises. Things keep having a way of popping up and ruining any down time I may have. But, I will try.

Hey all, just a TWG on WoW update for any who may be interested:

-After a short break, Nessa returned to WoW with a more moderate schedule.  We're not sure what inspired this change, but we are glad she is around.  At last check, her paladin was level 63 and still going strong.

-Chimera still plays on Nathrezim in between bouts of dating that make her conspicuously absent for days (sometimes weeks) at a time.  Her rogue is now level 50 and she is determined to somehow catch Nessa.

-Stacer logs in for late-night sessions of WoW, doggedly leveling her hunter despite occasional gank & camp fests by dastardly Alliance.  I believe her hunter is now mid-30ish.

-Tage and myself (Nytwalker) are still regular staples, with Tage finally having leveled one of his alts past level 60 (slacker!).

-For those who like a 'kindler, gentler' WoW, there are several TWGers who play on the Draka server (a PVE or 'pansy' server, if you will...)  They play Alliance <gag> (I think I just threw-up a little in my mouth) side.  I'm sorry I don't remember everyone who has a toon there.

And THAT is the news...

I'm 39 and holding at this point. My power cord just up and quit on me last night, and I've been sick all week anyway. Half a level to go till I can get a mount! :)

(And it's not as late at night for me as for some--I'm an hour behind you guys.)

64. I leveled on Thursday.  ;D

I'm sure that those of you with spouses will sympathize that for some odd reason they like to spend time with their significant other who plays WoW... So when I cut back, my husband decided it was OK to keep the account. That was what inspired the change. I think that deleting my other toons was a significant factor in this, which is why I probably won't be making alts and only rarely playing the warrior I created on Draka server.

I might be on but I doubt it. I somehow got committed to do a reading at my ward talent night on Saturday, which means that perhaps I need to find something to polish up enough to read. Should I just read from my novella? Read from the first draft of something that's so unpolished it'll take a year to get it ready to be held to public scrutiny? I have NO idea.

I haven't been on for a month, I've been so busy at work. Got my memory upgrade for my new computer last night, and finally got on WoW again. It was nice, but it wasn't a whole lot faster--and Nath locked me out, it was so busy. I've never seen it so busy as to say I'm 15th in line to get on. So I played on Draka. But it's strange either way. Perhaps they were just so busy last night that the server-side was delayed? I didn't lag or anything, so that's good, but I also didn't see the kind of improvement of performance I thought I would. (I went from 1gig to 4  gig on a Vista machine. Yet another reason to think about just scrapping Vista and installing XP from my old computer.)
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Spriggan on January 29, 2008, 06:37:04 PM
You only see a performance increase with Vista if you have a Direct X 10 graphics card and are playing a game that supports DX10 (which WoW doesn't as far as I'm aware), in every other instance XP will respond better.

Also moving to 4gigs of RAM won't do you as much good as you think since no 32-bit OS (PC or Mac) supports more then 3.2 gigs of ram (might be slightly off on that number).\

As for 15th in line to get on the sever.  What a whiner, I remember when the que was regularly 100+ to get on any sever (yes this was after release) and the servers were so unstable they'd go down about every other hour kicking everyone out of the game.  And yes I had to walk up hill both ways!  Through Murlocks!
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: stacer on January 29, 2008, 10:23:59 PM
Well, I was having major lagging issues with 1 gig, so I figured upgrading to 4 as opposed to 2 would have made a difference. It actually comes out to something like 3.7 because the video card takes part of that memory. I have an NVIDIA card, which is definitely an improvement on my old video card, which was pretty much bare bones of whatever was available when I bought it.

But it's definitely an argument for XP. I only bought Vista because it was the only OS option on this computer. I would have preferred XP.
Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Spriggan on January 29, 2008, 10:56:19 PM
You should have gone with 3 gigs instead of 4 because that last gig doesn't give you anything (the OS cannot use it).  Your video card is probably having the biggest effect on performance, the biggest problem with Vista and Gaming is very few games take advantage of what Vista has to offer (which does require a $200 video card)  and since it uses more RAM then XP but since you've got so much I'm thinking it's the Video card is causing the slowdown.  Though it's probably more the video card driver which are different then the XP drivers and very few companies have made good vista drivers.

Thankfully Omega Drivers have finally released their optimized NVidia Vista-32 bit drivers for download, these things are awesome and I highly recommend them.

The reason why Nath was so busy the other night was because a bunch of other servers were down...so a  bunch of people got on that server because it wasn't...hence, more people.

Yup it's my birthday on Saturday but I also have fun plans that day (not rifftrax, unfortunately). So Friday is the night for a Natherazim birthday bash! You guys wanted a time and I think we should say 9:00 pm Utah time (so 8 here or in Seattle) because of dinner with my parents and possibly opening presents. (yay!)  :D

I think we'll be doing a 70 instance run, stacer. Not that we want to leave you out! :( But that was what everyone seemed to want to do, and I need to get rep for a head enchant. I don't know for sure, though. But we have Draka tonight too, when I get to run with you and Izzy.

As for gifts, I'm accepting anything primal. lol jk  ;)

Title: Re: TWG on WoW
Post by: Fellfrosch on May 02, 2008, 05:38:38 PM
Fellfrosch would love to return on a limited basis, but it remains to be seen what kind of time he has. The trouble is that I don't have time for the periphery of the game (leveling, solo questing, crafting, etc.), but I would love to hop on for scheduled instance runs with our group of friends. If I do return, it will be under some pretty clear circumstances:
1. Matt would level me up to 70, so I wouldn't have to mess with that. I enjoy it, I just don't have the time.
2. We would set clear times on free nights, when I could plan ahead and we'd all go do an instance together.
3. I would have to get my daily writing done before I'm allowed to play.

I've wanted to come back for a while, and play main tank for our little group, but I don't have the time to just hang out and mess around for hours every night like I used to. A system like this could make it viable.

This week I won't be scheduling anything, though, because I'm gonna be out of town to my brother-in-law's wedding. The week after we can plan on hitting some low-level outlands instances for Stacer. And then eventually I'm gonna organize a ZA group. Hopefully. I'm sick of PUGs and dying a lot.

But other than scheduling something in advance, it's hard to have a set day every week due to the nature of my life as mom/wife.

Well, it looks like I'm quiting WoW for real this time. It's been a fun run and it really sucks, esp now that I've been able to get into new content. People want me to commit to raiding all the time and it's too much (and, well, I'm the kind of person who lets herself feel responsible when I really ought to be remembering this is just a game). As  a result I've let myself get behind on more important things in my life and it's time to catch up.

But I'll still see you guys at Rifftrax.

I am play a LOT of wow. My main is a 70 gnome lock on Lothar (yes yes i know the allies suck, but that is what my friends all rolled so meh). I used to be a hardcore raider (read: wow controlled my life) but finally got agrivated with my gm qqing no matter what i did. "Zee you need to not pull agro!" is all i heard when i was destro "Zee why are you demonology? didn't ya see the post on the forums? you need to be destro!" even tho i was topping the damage and not pulling agro! yeah i lost all my love for 25 mans. Only thing i regret is not being there for their first Arcimond (sp?)
kill, and not getting any phat MT Hyjal loots. That guild is in BT now i think, but enough about that! need to stop rambling...lol

Myself and one of my friends have been lving horde toons as of late. I've been playing a Blood Elf pally  (should have rolled a female one. HATE the male dance) and he a orc hunter. We can 2 man most instances our lv (nerf hunters seriously) due to my leet protadin skills :).
Also have a 42 Undead warrior on Arthas that i sometimes play, but lving a warrior is stupid at times due to their slowness and i have quit him more times than i have count lol.

Perhaps i will roll up a toon on Nath and get to know you guys better and such :)

I'm gonna be AWOL for a while. Not sure yet if I'm coming back. The account cancels on Nov 4th and I won't be getting WOTLK for a while yet. The holidays will require too much of my attention to be able to play much anyway. Which really annoys me since Matt, the slacker, finally comes back right as I'm taking time off. Boo. An of course people are going to be leveling without me. Ah well.

Try to find a guild that only raids a few nights a week or are casual. But, like you, I find a hard time moderating my time so gotta stop for a while as I'm gonna be busy with the holidays.

So I'm back, but have created a toon on my husband's realm: Altar of Storms. If you'd like to join me and him on the alliance side we'd be happy to see you!

Nessalynn (holy pally)
Luminaxe (prot warrior)

My brother, Sarathena (lock) is on there too, and is steadily making his way to 80.

So I rolled a draenai pally on Altar of Storms, his name is Taelos.  I'm not sure how often I'll play it, but we'll see  ;)

So, I haven't read the entire thread (mainly coz it's huge), but how many people here currently have and play WoW? Also, what factions we got floating around, horde/alliance?

Me and a friend of mine are probably going to start playing sometime soon (well, we are going to start playing RETAIL. We've played on private servers (for shame, i know) for quite a while, and we're sick of the bugs and lag) And I wouldn't mind hitting up a few people who play around here sometime, iffen ye are up for it!

Close, Nessa, but it's Draka that's the server.

I'm Norroway on Horde on Draka (l70), but I rarely get over on her mostly because the friends I normally play with rarely play their Horde alts.

So most of the time I'm Rinalasha (74 night elf druid) on Alliance, though sometimes I'm MissParker.

Mistress of Darkness on here (who hasn't been coming around here much lately) can be found playing with me on there too as Vivien or Lionora. Our guild is named Stet Cannister, for anyone who remembers that. FuzzyOctupus (who also rarely comes here, if at all) is also on there, as is MoD's husband.

New term: E-Joyable - Adjective.  To make something better/ more enjoyable by the presence of T7 Gear.

Examples:
I got a new car, and it's not very e-Joyable

I sprinkled on a T7 helm on dinner to make it more e-joyable

So my guild transfered off Altar of Storms.  :-\

It was kind of a sudden decision, although we did research where we went (Stormreaver, alliance). Sorry to anyone who made a toon there only to see me leave.

We are finishing filling up our raid slots, and after being there less than a week have run our first 25-man there successfully. We left AoS because the population continues to decline there, making it very difficult to recruit players capable of upper-lvl raiding--the good players being spread too thin among the top 4 guilds there, & clinging too tightly to each other to allow for progression. Very frustrating. I'm glad we left the server, but hope we didn't leave anyone in the lurch.

I'm on Spirestone with a lvl 80 nightelf warrior, Vetrend. Currently an officer in the guild Heavens Plague. We have progressed quite nicely and have everything done except the Twilight Vanquisher title. It's just mass chaos on OS with 3 drakes up. Oh and the Immortal title but I really don't see that happening...

mine and my wife's accounts are chilling at "inactive" because they made the game too easy. our guild cleared the game the week after release with most of the time-sinks titles/achievements. After doing most of Sunwell pre-patch (and then nuking the rest right before WotLK), the new stuff makes me sad.

less WoW = more writing.

My husband and I run a 145ish player lvling Aliance guild on Malfurion called Eminence.  We used to be a raiding guild but a sister guild fell apart and now we pug quite a bit and focus on lvling alts.  I have an 80 Shaman: Ixchell and a 58ish DK Mahrandah. and a few other toons

I also have my "get away" alt on Taneris she is a 35ish hunter called Arjunna.
Stop by and say "hi" if you're in the neighborhood!

I play a 40 Night Elf Druid on Aggramar, among numerous lowbie alts both there and on Kirin Tor. I have a pathetic addiction to rolling new characters and then leaving them to roll new ones. Anyways, her name is Liadain, so feel free to say hi!

I play on Arathor one of the popular ones but some people like the not-so popular ones. I can't name any of them now.
The one issue on the popular ones are sometimes you may have to wait to log on.
