My box of 20 finally came in. So, we're going to throw the Bucca party next week. Everyone is invited. We're thinking Thursday night.
Now, originally, I thought these books would come in earlier than they did. I assumed that the 'box opening party' would be our first look at the novel. However, that isn't the way it worked out. I'd still like to throw a party, though.
This time, however, I'll have to say that I'm not going to pay for the rest of you. Maybe next time, but right now, I'm just too poor.
I still intend to sign and give copies to my original writing group, who worked on ELANTRIS, and also give copies to those who have had a significant affect on the book's development. Right now, those people stand at:
Ben
Dan
Nate G.
Peter
My thesis committee
My boss (who let me write ELANTRIS while I worked at the Cottontree.)
And maybe a few other individuals.
Is there anyone I'm forgetting?

If it matters, I would be happy to just trade the book I already bought.
And I won't be making it to Buca!

Is Thursday in stone?

Nope, not yet. Tage, however, will be out of town from Friday to Sunday, and I'd like to do it on a night when he, Nate, and Dan can go--since they were all in the original writing group.

Friday is out for me too. Thursday would work, or Wednesday if we reschedule HU to Thursday.

I could probably manage Thursday -- my book finally came in the mail and I need it signed!

Oddly enough I was going to suggest changing it to Friday, since I realized it would be a convenient stop-off for me on my way to Idaho, but it looks like Thursday is a better day for everyone. Brandon, I assume you'll be signing whatever books are brought to the party? Hopefully the ones I ordered will be there for a couple of family members.

Yeah, Thursday is best--turns out Wednesday is Enrichment night for Foxy Beak, so I'm home with the kids. And you don't want them at Buca.

I could do Thursday, though I wasn't even considering Friday, because of Tage. If it would be better for people, and if Tage could come, that would be even better for me.
However, if it doesn't work for people, we'll do Thursday. Somebody slap 42, Sprig, and Prometheus and ask them which day works for them.

Not sure if Prometheus is aware yet, he hasn't been around much lately. I'll ask when I see him.

Friday is out for me, as I said before. None of our family could take our kids last weekend, so this weekend is my anniversary getaway with Dawn. It's been too hard to set up for us to change it at this point.

Which Buca are we talking here? Provo, SLC? I'm assuming Provo since y'all live there, but I don't know the address to that one.

I don't think we have one in Provo. We typically go to the one on (I think) Fort Union.

Prometheus gets off work at 6, so he might be a little late if he is going. I told him about it, but it doesn't look as though he has come here yet.

When you calculate all the time we'll spend waiting, ordering, and waiting, he'll get there right on time for the food.

ya even if we get seated at 6:30 it wont be until around 7 that we sart eating.

Speaking of Bucca, I was driving around Seattle this afternoon looking for an apartment, and there's a Bucca in the Queen Anne neighborhood. Made me think of this thread. I wonder if their food is similar to the Utah one, which I hear is really good, but haven't been able to experience yet.

It's a chain so it probaly tastes the same.

Well, there are variation in some quality. I've been to some chains, where it really good in one place, so-so in another, and awful in another. (Denny's, Outback, Training Table, Olive Garden, and Sizzler being the ones I have the most experience with.)
But chains that charge as much as Bucca usually try to keep up the quality.

For example, both Training Tables in Salt Lake aer great, but the one in Provo is consistently wretched.

Hard Rocks: The Las Vegas has excellent food. The DC food is kinda well, ... icky. SLC is mroe or less average, but there's a Donny and Marie booth to make up for it.

Incidentally, for whoever is making reservations: My wife wants to come, so add another to the tally.

She was going to come until she found out Mustard would be there. If Mustard stays home, but his wife still goes, then we'd have something.

I like Fell's wife, but not in that "I wish she were mine so I'm going to stalk her and incorporate fear and plagues into Fell's toothpaste supply so he becomes a leper and has to be sent away to some far away land where those kinds of people live for the rest of the month" way.

I work til 7pm. Even if I really booked it up there I wouldn't get there before 7:30 or later. I barely got any food at all showing up late last time! If you all promise there'll still be food when we show up then add two more.

Well crap. Due to all sorts of things, neither I nor my wife will be in attendance. I guess this means Fell's wife can come now.

Just FYI I was thinking of useing this, or a like, image gallery for TWG 4.0 so people could easly upload pictures for their articles.

I guess I could, I figured since there were thumbnails people would like to see the full sized ones (at least the people who where there).

I enjoyed the larger pictures, but they were too big and there was no way to resize them. I mention this only in terms of using the system for future TWG projects--we need the pictures to fit on the screen, rather than bleed out of it by a significant margin.

actualy in the admin section there's a way to automaticlay adjust the size of the pictures just like there's an auto thumbnail generator.
