So we've got a pile of new members that are posting fairly regularly and, even though we've had threads like this in the past, I think it would be interesting to hear a little from everybody. The member profiles are notoriously uninformative.
May I suggest a few things:
1) Everyone posts once - just a little about yourself. Don't use this thread to say "Welcome Fell, good to meet you." That way the tread will stay more organized and usable.
3) On a similar note, if something about you changes, modify your post rather than making a new one.
2) The thread won't get deleted so that we won't have to have threads like this in the future.

I'll go first --
My name is Rob Wells - I live in scenic Holladay, Utah. Â I graduated from the the University of Utah with a Political Science International Relations degree and a history minor. Â I have a wife and a 2 year old baby girl.
Technically, I'm the Tabletop editor, although I'm exceptionally lazy and never write anything. Â I hope to do better this summer.
I enjoy most of the game genres talked about here, although I have a hard time with RPGs. Â I don't have the time or the motivation. Â I like reading the books though. Â My main love is warhammer, although I rarely have time for that anymore, either. Really, the only games I play at all these days are Heroclix and video games (PC).
I have one published novel, On Second Thought, and have second that will be out in Spring of 2005.

My name is Dan Wells, and I'm Rob's elder brother. I live in Logan, Utah, where I work as a copy writer for a very large company. I am also the editor and originator of this site, though Skar and SaintEhlers share credit for origination of the idea. I have a wife and two kids: a 2 1/2 year old girl and a 14-month old boy.
Like Mustard I am a writer, though unlike him I haven't sold any books yet. I've got one I'm rewriting, and some other ideas I'm kicking around, so we'll see what happens.
I play virtually every genre of game you can imagine, though my current love is Heroclix--it has replaced Warhammer in my affections for the simple reason that Warhammer is incredibly hard to paint and/or play with two kids in the house. I hope to get back into it over the next few months in preparation for the Eye of Terror campaign.
It is an unusual quirk of mine that, when I see or do something I like, I get a compulsion to do my own version of it. This usually results in me inventing games or bizarre house rules, and it is what prompted me to become a writer.

I'm Ben Olsen, and technically I'm the webmaster, although I'm also very lazy and try to ignore any site suggestions that would require any work.
I graduated from BYU in Computer Engineering, and now work at with Verio, a web hosting company. That latter fact is the reason we can have TWG on a good server with no ads. I'm single with no kids and little hope of ever changing that.
I completely ignore the CCG and Tabletop sections, because they're exceptionally boring. I keep up with most the other threads, though.
EDIT: We *can* run TWG without ads; however, Fell decided to try them anyway. They make us some decent money, so for now they're sticking around.

I'm Eric J. Ehlers. I'm the Associate Editor, which means I have to make sure stuff shows up on the front page every week day. If nothing shows up, i'm the one you're supposed to bug about it. I read every article and every forum post.
I graduated from BYU with a degree in Comparative Literature. Just so you know, that has nothing to do with the English dept and even less to do with any grammar -- so PLEASE don't insult me by trying to connect it (i'm a snob that way). But if you want a text explicated, analyzed, or criticized, I'm your man. I'm also very into comics, and I presented once at LTUE on the subject. I'm currently trying to get a contract for a book on it. As you can tell, I like to write. I'm trying to decide which novel to write first and have several new short story ideas each day (most I don't get down fast enough to remember)
I'm currently in the Northern Virginia area (*not* DC, again, it's a distinction that's important to me). I work for MicroAnalytics as a technical writer/Desktop publisher/network admin.
I'm married and have (nearly) four daughters. They are certainly the most beautiful children ever born to mortal man.

I like anime and the lord of the rings and I have some of the Games Workshop LoTR minis... I own a gamecube and my favorite games are Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 0, and of course Wind Waker.

My name is Zachary Kaveney. And I'm terribly outrageous. I'm 17, go to a high school, live in a house, and wear clothes (occasionally). I live in Derby, NY, it's one of those suburb things off of Buffalo by that awful Lake Erie that has kept us in this crappy Winter/Spring. I don't have a girlfriend, probably because I'm strangely unsocial, or maybe because every woman I come in contact with is horribly shallow or she "doesn't have that 'feeling.'"
I like(d) Magic the Gathering. Play it every so often. Trying to play Heroclix...but no one I know cares about it, bunch of cutthroats they are. I've been playing a lot of Warcraft 3 lately.
On the note of college and career stuff, I'm not sure what I'm doing. Engineering is what I'd do if I went to school A, and if I go to school B then it'd be Theater. Hah-cha-cha-cha!
Lastely, you can call me the resident psycho/insane/mentally disturbed person round here.
Does EVERYONE go to BYU? Whats up with all you people and this BYU? What is that, a bar?

I'm Stacy Whitman. I graduated from BYU in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, and then went on to work as an editor for a trade magazine, then at Houghton Mifflin while working on my master's in children's literature at Simmons College in Boston. Just graduated last May, and now I edit children's and young adult fantasy.
You can probably guess that I'm mostly into the books and movies section. I'm also involved in the writing group. I used to not play any of the games at all, but lately I've learned to play Magic, D&D minis, SW minis, and D&D. Currently, I'm involved in an Eberron campaign, and I kick butt. Who knew it could be so fun? I mainly come here, though, to keep in touch with my TLE friends from undergrad days and the new friends I've made here.

I'm Jeff Creer. By day I'm a not-so-mild mannered Art Education student at BYU. By night I am an award-winning graphic designer in the Utah "Happy" Valley area. That sounds a whole lot cooler than it really is, but you get the idea. I paint, draw, sculpt, and am generally constantly involved with various artistic projects and artistic organizations.
My main interests are the RPG and Movie/TV forums, though I also like the book forum and occossionaly I'll visit some of the other sites.

Hi everyone! My name is Micah DeMoux. I write reviews for the D&D section of the TWG. I've been told people wonder why I never post. Well, here you go. I also graduated from Brigham Young University (for those of you who don't live in Utah thats the BYU people keep mentioning). I have a Fine Arts degree in Photography which, of course, means that I am the Front Office Manager at a hotel in Provo, UT. I also do some freelance photography work on the side. My name is Lucias Meyer and I'm currently attending Optometry School at the University of Missouri St. Louis and am about to finish up my second year there. I'm originally from Hillsboro, Il and have a B.A. in Biology from Truman State University.
I've been on the boards here at TWG for some time now and intend on staying a while. The only board I don't frequent much is Webcomics, you'll usually find me saying something inane on one of the other boards.
I've written some Gamecube reviews for the site and intend on writing up some RPGs if I could just find some time :)

i like playing videogames on my ps2 any genre will do if the game is good and i really like old adventure games for the pcbut there hard to get, i also like listening to music mostly rock, metal and video game music remixes and reading manga, everything i can get my hands on here in sweden im currently reading; blade of the immortal, dragonball, one piece, 3x3 eyes and blame.

My name is Nate Hatfield.  My herd instinct compells me to mention that I graduated from BYU in English teaching and public administration.  I met Dan and Ben and Eric and Jeff while I was there through a lovely little publication called The Leading Edge.  I am currently living in the Seattle area, but will be relocating to the Wasatch Front in August.  Why, you ask?  I am currently engaged to be married, and my fiancee has two years of school left.  Guess where she goes to school!  So while both of us are  from WA and we both agree we'd rather be on the coast, we also decided that it's important for her to finish her degree (in theater education and dance) and transferring would set us too far back.
I am looking for a teaching job in Utah right now. Â Preferably in a middle school or junior high. Â After years I have finally decided that I want to teach English and social studies for a living. Â
I also like to write, but don't do it very often. Â I am a novice RPGer but love it. Â Movies are great but I don't get around to seeing them very often. Â Current favorite author: Philip K. Dick.

Hey all. My name is Brian Lacy, and I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah (although the past few years have been spent jumping around between Provo, Salt Lake, and Cache Valley).
Unlike the majority of Utah residents here, I am NOT and never have been a BYU student. I met Eric Ehlers (SaintEhlers) when we were working together in Provo, and he turned me into a D&D buff. While living in Provo I also had the priviledge of meeting several of Eric's TLE associates.
My passion and expertise is in designing computer games. I do it as a hobby currently, but I have dreams of becoming the next Warren Spector (the designer of System Shock, Deus Ex) or Peter Molyneaux (Populous, Black & White). Hopefully I'll be going back to school this fall to work toward this goal.
Since joining yesterday, I have read several of the reviews in various areas, and I'm sure I'll read more, they seem very practical. I even found myself guiltily enjoying Sluggy Freelance based on a recommendation from the site. :)
But I'm actually here because SaintEhlers might possibly move his AORP game here, and because I found myself enjoying the read in the Heroes Unlimited game run by Fellfrosch.

My first published novel, ELANTRIS, will be released by Tor Books in May of 2005. It sure would be nifty if you'd buy a copy. If you don't, I'll have to send Entropy to your house to beat you up.

My name is Rob, I'm a recovered MUDder and a recovering RPGer. For what its worth (not too much, as it turned out) I graduated from Trinity College in CT with a BA in philosophy. I went straight into the computer programming industry, doing mainly IT programming. For example, go into any barnes and noble and take a look at the computers they're using - my roommate and I wrote much of the software you'll see there. Anyway, my preferences are battletech muds though I had to give them up cold turkey, and RPGs such as Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk 2020 and Mage. D&D bores me to tears unless the DM is really good. All my favorite CCGs died off years ago, don't get into them any more. I also have found very few people near me in California who play RPGs, so I haven't gamed much lately. I still enjoy reading the rule books though. Aside from all that, I'm married, no kids, and spend my free time riding a Kawasaki ZX-6R and learning Chinese.

Well, my name is Dean Polly, I'm 19 years old and live in Helena Montana. I work through a temp agency doing data entry. It's loads of fun.
I play D&D whenever I get the chance, super nintendo/nintendo when I have friends over, and Everquest to fill the rest of my time.
I'm going to be going to Carroll College next fall, although I don't have a major, I was going to go CompSci, or something like that and get my CCNA cert, but I've decided network security isn't a job market that I'd be interested in joining.
I play guitar and play around with graphics design and programming, but that's about all I do other than play video games and watch anime.
I waste copious amounts of time at work and at home...because...well I don't know...life is easy being lazy, you never have to think of stuff to do. The other night I climbed up a hill and then came back down...that took a lot of work so I'm never doing that again...

My name is Zachary. Â I've lived in Utah County all my life and don't really plan on moving, although I've visited over 20 states so I figure I have a good idea of what's out there. Â I grew up on a fruit farm and still do that, and I enjoy it so chances are I will continue farming the rest of my life even if I end up getting some other cool job. Â I'll likely end up in the computer field, which I don't consider a cool job but its a natural talent so that's hard to argue.
I obviously like roleplaying games, and my favorite is the new dugeons and dragons system. Â I joined 42's gaming group in august iirc, which is how I came about this website btw. Â I really enjoy making up characters, to use in RPGs or stories or just to make up a cool hero, so that's probably the main reason why I'm drawn to roleplaying games. Â I also prefer older stuff to more modern things, and rpgs kind of let you take a glimpse into the past, another reason why I'm drawn to them. Â Also, my favorite kinds of characters are the dark, brooding sort with my two favorite archtypes the hulking Conan/He-man barbarian and the strong, nimble fighter like Highlander, Angel, and Vampire Hunter D.

I'm John Poor,
Entering my 28th year on this earth, I currently live in Florida (Jacksonville) right now, I've been here for almost 2 years which is quite sad for me because I came here on a whim & didn't intend to stay longer than 6 months. I came from Denver before that, and I've spent my entire life moving around. There are only 2 places I call home, Denver, and Boston. I served my mission in Boston, but had lived there some 18 years before that. it's where my Father is from and always has held some sentimental value to me. (I even had the chance to ask his mother in law if she wanted to take the discussions...she declined)
I work @ Merrill Lynch formerly as a Broker, currently as a Slave to the MAN! I'm starting school back up this summer after a 4 year break, and one day I'm sure I'll graduate. I'm going for a Degree in Communications with a Minor in Computers. I've worked as a DJ at verious clubs in Denver, I've Djed a few times in Orlando but for the most part am letting my turntables gather dust in the corner.
I don't give a rip about RPGs, and haven't since I gave up 'Car Wars' for Lent about 12 years ago.
I'll mainly be posting to be an obnoxious jerk, so If I offend then I'm just doing what seems to come naturally to me. Well that or commenting on TV/Movies, because I haven't a social life, and pretend that People on TV actually like me!

My name is Beau K. Horton - Hunter. I am 14 years old, and am currently doing my second year of university plus a yr 12. subject. I live in Coffs Harbour *shudders and blushes with shame*, New South Wales, Australia. I actually *occaisionally* go to the same school as JP, though I found this site by accident and completely seperately to him.
I tend to hang out on the Upper Boards, but I'll usually read the Books section, if not other sections.

Hi! I'm Lanea Zimmerman. Just moved to Orem to be closer to my friends. I'm good friends with Izzy, AKA Mistress of Darkness, and a few other former TLE members that I don't see here.
My official career is "Starving Artist" although I do try to work to keep myself from starving too much. I like to do just about anything creative, but I'm trying to focus on art and writing right now.
I had art published in a couple of TLE's editions, but I'm not all that proud of them. I have never gone to BYU, and I never will. But it's an awsome school.

I've posted a few times (and I'll probably post more), so I guess I should introduce myself.
I'm Tom, a 19 year old 2nd year Math (and possibly comp. sci.) major at the University of Chicago. I read a lot, play computer and video games, and a lot of rpgs (I'm in D+D 3e and Unknown Armies campaigns right now). I used to play CCGs, but I doubt I'll get back into it, and I played wargames, which I would get back into if I had the time (and the space for the painting - can't do that in dorms). I'm an anime fan as well.

I'm Robieh Bou-Fakreddine (I'm Lebanese in case you were wondering, if not, you know anyways). I live in a small town north of Detroit (It's not dangerous where I live). I'm 16, don't work, and currently waste my life away in school and playing some JV tennis which is a major time drain. I decided I needed swomething else to waste my time with and also decided to sign up because gorgon made me do it.
Uh... I play lots of video games in my spare time and watch lots of movies. I generally like things involving lots of death, blood, and/or violence. (/me thinks who doesn't?).
And that's pretty much my life wrapped up in a paragraph. I feel so worthless now.

Hi there. I haven't posted anything or even really visited in as much as a month, and thats probably my average frequency. Always appreciated the site, but I don't really spend time online the way I used to. Mostly I come here when Eric Ehlers points me to a thread, and I only talk to him once every couple of weeks or so. Things have just been pretty busy ever since I moved back to Cache Valley.
These days I'm a web programmer at a local software company (http://www.lpsoftware.com if you care). I'm also working toward turning in my mission papers -- no, I'm not young, I turn 25 in November; I just have accomplished little since high school, though I have high expectations for the future. ;)
I came to learn about TWG through Eric, who I met several years ago while working with him in Provo.

I was talking to Saint Ehlers on his recent trip to Utah, and he mentioned this site. We were talking about reviewing games, and having had some pretty strong opinions about some games in the recent past, I wanted to come see what I might contribute.
I work for TSA (airport security), am married, and have three great kids. I was thinking of starting a Hello! thread in Everything Else, but never liked that kind of thing anyway. House of Mustard saw one of my posts and pointed me this direction. Thanks HoM.

I've had TWG bookmarked for probably a year by now, but I never really thought about joining the forum until recently. Nice to be here!

My name is Nathan Barrett and I live in Tucson, AZ. I graduated from BYU with a degree in Geography, and I'm currently working on a Master's degree in Planning at the University of Arizona. I'm married, have no kids, but teach a bunch of three year olds in church on Sundays.
I've known about this site for some time. My wife is best friends to Dan Wells' wife, and so I've met that weird and freaky crowd that tends to gravitate around him. I recently started a job as a planner for the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Indian Nation. Since I now have a real job, I figured I now have real time to waste. So, here I am!

Well, I guess this is still alive enough. I'm Jason, aka "Mister M" due to a memory lapse by EUOL the first time we met. I know a good chunk of people on the board from Leading Edge, and participated in the Arthurian RPG for a while as Dravner Belanos before the bubonic plague wiped that campaign from the face of the earth.
I probably won't be posting too often, since I'm currently trying to utilize my downtime here at work to get some fiction writing done (so far, I have 37 story beginnings and not a single ending. Stupid writer's block).
Oh yeah, I'm getting married in two weeks. Thankfully, my wife is even more adept at time-wasting than I and actively spends much of her time involved in computer games, roleplaying, Anime, and the occasional game of Magic. And she watches MST3K with me. :)

Since I'm here . . .
I blame Brenna entirely for introducing me to this website. She'd mentioned it a few times, but something about a mysterious bunch of emails and a fish finally persuaded me to join.
I'm married, have three kids, am earning my degree in Linguistics, and spend a lot of time at TLE. My hobbies include saving my sons from death by splat, death by drowning, and death by starvation. Death by dustbunnies may have come up occasionally.
Despite my family, wild pickles couldn't keep me from pursuing my fantasy genre obsessions, and I even get in a few minutes of writing time most nights. I've had a short story published about ten years ago, and a poem about fifteen years ago. I've since had an article and a few book reviews published. Working at TLE, this isn't saying much.

My name is Janci (which doesn't end in an e or a y or a z or a q) and I'm a super-senior English major at BYU.
I tend to get bored and random in the middle of the night and do strange things like doorbell ditch things like goldfish and betta's on people's doorsteps. Okay, I've only done that once, but it turned out to be so entertaining that I just might do it again. On second thought, probably not.
I go to TLE, (except not this week because I'm in Paris. Can I just tell you that I love Paris) and I once took a writing class from the illustrious Brandon Sanderson. Which is incidentally how I ended up at TLE. Not that anyone cares.
And if any of you eats my fish, I'll be doorbell ditching a school of pirranahs next, just so you know. ;D

I work as a System Analyst for State Street Bank in Boston. All this amounts to is sitting at my console all day waiting for alerts to come up and taking phone calls. Whoop-de-do! But I only work 3 12-hour days so how can you complain?
Never went to college in an educational aspect. I've been to many colleges though ;)
I'm a huge Star Wars fanatic and am looking forward to going broke over the next 9 months.
I'm also really into movies, tv, reading and amateur photography (digital). There's a link in my profile to my photo page which I will pimp every chance I can.
I used to RPG quite a bit back in the day but don't have the time for it anymore. I'm a fan of just games in general, often buying them even though I know I will never play them. I've been known to buy RPG books just to read them for entertainment.
I successfully created exactly one card game that my friends love. I've demo'd it for a couple different companies at previous GenCons but it's never "their type of thing". I will likely web-publish it for free once I get around to putting down the rules in concrete. I'm the type of person that gets lots of ideas and says they'll get to them "someday". So if anyone's looking for a font of imaginative ideas, here I am!
Nowadays, most of my gaming is done on the PC. Right now it's City of Heroes and retro-emus like MAME. There will never be another Yar's Revenge, nuff said!

Â Beardie Mike was what they called me in my fraternity (with a name like Mike you usually need a modifier to distinguish youself from the 50 other Mikes in the group) and it seemed appropiate so you know which one is me in the con pictures.
I am Eric's older brother. Â I graduated from the U of U in Math and Physics and from Franklin Pierce Law Center with a JD and an emphasis in intellectual property law. Â I currently work at Fidelity Investmnets where I do nothing whatsoever related to those degrees. Â I currently live in New Hampshire, where I am becoming more and more of a Yankee, though I am still a Virginia gentleman at heart.

Yeah. I'm Ethan Skarstedt. In a former life I got a degree in English from BYU where I met everyone at TLE. One year I was the grandmaster-committe-meister-chair of LTUE. It was so fun that I have never returned to even a single meeting of the committee.
I have been published in Sunstone as the third place winner of the Brookie and DK Brown fiction contest. Other than that zilch except for some drawings I did for TLE. Which don't count because I worked there.
Now I work as a Graphic Designer for the marketing department of a hearing aid company.
Currently I'm working on a book about my experiences in Afghanistan. When that's done I'll go back to work on my Science Fiction novel and various short stories.

I'm deciding between Electrical Engineering and History for a major, but it looks as if I will be in college for another four years.

Hi, I'm Joe. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I'm a book producer by day (once a manuscript is done in development, it's sent to me. I handle the copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, troubleshoot, printing, binding, etc. My job is the actual construction of the book). I freelance by night. Although my focus recently has been with the RPGA, I've been published with Kenzer & Co., wrote an award winning play (that I'm still very proud of), and hopefully will move back to the stage or maybe even screen once I run out of ideas for adventures. :)
I game with Mr. Pleasington among others, both with the RPGA and in home games such as Savage Worlds, Orpheus (which I want to make into a movie) and others.
Other than that, movies, music, politics, religion, biking, and being a general pedagogue fills what time I have left. :)

I am Mike of Nebraska. Nicadymus has talked to me enough about this site that I finally decided to spend what little free time I have to check it out. EUOL many years ago got me in with this group of gamers, and I have been hooked ever since. The group of gamers being Spriggan, EUOL, Nicadymus, Rican and MoreDew. I would defiently call myself the counterpoint of this group, that being the swearing, drinking, smoking fiend that I am, they still put up with just fine.
I work at a Nuclear (or as I call it the unclear) Power plant here in Nebraska, hence the homer picture. Before that there was college and the Navy which also happened to be for nuclear power.
Nicadymus, Rican, MoreDew and I have been gaming pretty much whenever we get a chance for the last ten years minus times for being away due to the military or those spirital trips their church encourages.

I'm a graduate from USU in Graphic Design, and for the past 7 years I've been a video game designer in Salt Lake, Germany, and now North Carolina. I've worked on Robotech: Invasion (Vicious Cycle - Xbox and PlayStation 2), Far Cry (Crytek - PC), Legends of Wrestling 2 (Acclaim - Xbox, PS2, GameCube), Circus Maximus (Kodiak Interactive - Xbox and PS2 PAL), and Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 (Acclaim - Nintendo 64, PlayStation, DreamCast).
I've played role-playing games for the past... uh, 25 years I guess. Favorites are D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Stormbringer, World of Darkness, and basically anything I could find a group of people willing to play with me. Currently I'm also really in to German boardgames and other ways to waste my time.
Big horror movie and sci-fi movie nut. Former comic junkie (my budget couldn't keep up with the habit once my son was born), but I work with enough guys who still collect that I can usually read over their shoulders on lunch breaks.
It goes without saying I'm a big video game player. Currently playing World of Warcraft, Bard's Tale, Final Fantasy X-2, X-men Legends.

I play WotC d20 and old WW RPGs (VtDA). Occasionally I'll find enough friends and spare moments to play MtG, although that's getting harder and harder since no one plays T1 anymore.
My Evil Boss® recently banned my box from accessing Puckys.com, so I'm kind of a refugee from there. If anyone visits Pucky's after reading this, tell them Acid misses everyone except Mule.
Since I waste a good four or five hours at work each day dicking around on the web, chances are I'll be spending a large chunk of that time here unless my Evil Boss® dies (an eventuality to be fervently wished for) or realizes that I'm spending my slacking time here and bans me from accessing this place at work too.

I've got one book, coming out in June through Covenant Communications, hence the pen name. The title is TBD. It is my first book, and though I've got a good idea and outline for a second, I have yet to put finger to keys, as it were. Too much school and work (I work three jobs, and it's a bit much).

Mid (yikes! LATE) 30s, live in SF the bluest part of the country (well, OK, Berkeley is bluer but they are all students so it is hardly fair.)
Gamed (D&D) as a teenager and then took too many years off. Started again 11 years ago and it has (almost) taken over my life. I almost always DM and recently started DMing games for the RPGA.
I have two great gaming groups so I am pretty damn spoiled. However, all 12 players want only to play D&D even though there is so much out there. So I am working on them, but it is an uphill battle.

I'm Michael-Forest. Â Forest is not my last name. Â It confuses people. Â I generally go by "Jade" or "The Jade Knight" online. Â I get called "Jadey" affectionately, regardless of where I go. Â People always figure it out. Â I would use "The Jade Knight" as a pen name if I thought I could ever get away with it. Â I don't.
I've read some Fantasy, though less than I ought. Â I've read some of everything. Â I'm only finally getting around with to reading the Wheel of Time, which I'm not overly impressed with (not that I think it's bad either).
I'm an aspiring Fantasy writer. Â I've finished one short story to date (with the help of EUOL) which got rejected by WotF. Â I'm considering sending it to TLE instead. Â I'm pre-writing a novel, and working on another short. Â I've done extensive world-building (no one here uses the term "conworlding", eh?) and some conlanging.
I used to wargame constantly. Â I know the Warhammer world intimately, for the GW fans out there. Â I haven't touched 6th. Â Much.
My most recent RP experience was Riddle of Steel. Â I actually took Welsh at BYU with Norwood (anyone else here know Jake?)
I've generally lived in Reno, NV, and Utah most of my life.  I spent 2 years (ish) at BYU.  I'm currently in Montréal trying to convince my girlfriend to marry me and also to figure out how to write well.  One day I'll get my degrees in English and History.
My interests are diverse.  There are the obvious, and then there are other weird things.  For example, I am an avid Thai cook.  I find my electric wok indispensable, and one of my concerns about being in Montréal is finding a suitable store to obtain ingredients from.  I harbour secret desires to make Electronic music (via Reason) and learn Calligraphy.
Oh, I'm almost 23.  And I've worked in both Education AND Library Sciences.  These experiences have left me bitter and jaded.  =þ
And I'll go ahead and add here that I'm a huge fan of EUOL, but, strangely, not because of his writing (I've not had the chance to read very much of it). Â Rather, it's because I've seen his editing. Â Amazing stuff, having him tear apart my story like that.
Okay, I think that's a long enough entry for you people.
One last thing: Â my major writing weakness is plot. Â I really, really struggle with coming up with one. Â I feel like I'm getting better, but it's slow progress.

So if you couldn't guess by now, this site was created by those with BYU and TLE ties. Hopefully by now you know what these acronyms stand for. I, too, am a TLEer. In fact, I was just promoted to being the Associate Editor at TLE. Yeah!
So this means I know Old One, Brenna, MsFish, fuzzyoctopus, Mister M, and others that I can't remember their names. I don't know all the TLEers because many were before my time (I started in Sept of 03). I have graduated from BYU (Dec. 04) with a BA in English and a minor in editing. I am very excited because I just got a REAL job. Nope, no more fake jobs for me! I'm doing technical editing for a software company. I'm the only TRUE editor there, so they pretty much worship me. Plus I get to walk around and tell all the computer technicians why their grammar is totally wrong and ask them what they were really try to say. POWER BABY!
So anyway, my name is Jillena and I am married to a wonderful husband for three years (just last Tuesday). I live in Provo, duh. I grew up in Washington State by Seattle and miss it a lot. Especially the berries that grow there (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries Yummmmmmmmmm!). I'm not into RPGs that much, nor do I play video games that much, nor do I read sci-fi. I like some fantasy, but I don't get to read much. I am interested in any geek things I can get my dirty mits on, but I have an ADD-esq quality to my hobbies so all my are spead amoung my interest like a spread of vegi-mite on toast, thin at some places and thick at others but always having that same nasty aftertaste called brokeness.

I did go to law school and now practice immigration law. I collected comics until I graduated, which I find funny because now I could actually afford them! I've played alot of D20 over the years. The most fun I have had gaming recently was my first time playing "Call of Cthulu."
I enjoy film and reading, but my strong suit is definitely my vast resevoir of useless movie knowledge (like the lyrics to the theme from "Rambo." You don't believe me? *singing* "It's a long road...when you're on your own...and it hurts *trails off*)

Since he brought me up . . . I guess I can introduce myself. Hi everyone! I'm MoreDew's wife! The reader can decide whether to believe what MoreDew posted and if you ask I might tell. If not for Nicadymus, MoreDew and I wouldn't have met or ended up married. (I met MoreDew while on a date with Nicadymus but it's all good since Nic married one of my friends!) Whether I want to thank Nicadymus or strangle him depends on the day.
After almost 5 years we finally get along consistantly, we created the most adorable little boy in the world and our daughter's "in the oven" as I type. (I don't know if it's actually a girl but I have a feeling it is.)
I do freelance computer work and it would be glamorous if my clients figured out they need to pay my invoices on a regular basis.

Let's see my name is Elizabeth and I live in Pennsylvania. I've been writing since the age of seven or eight. I participated three times in the Labor Day Weekend Novel Writing contest, and just did my first NaNoWriMo (while getting my second bachelor's - secondary education). I suppose this also shows I'm a glutton for punishment.
I'm working through a torturous novel right now; it's mostly the problem of getting it down on paper the way that feels right. But besides this - and the ever present demands of school  :P  - I have a number of other interests:
I'm a movie nut; I love history (going to be a social studies teacher); I read voraciously; I pamper my vain, spoiled golden retriever; I battle a secret addiction to chocolate; I surf the internet constantly; and I love economics.
That's me in a verbal nutshell.

My name is Heather and I am a closet nerd. Although, MsFish has informed me that I am more of a literary nerd since I'm not all that taken with role-playing or any of that stuff. My best form of disguise is my keen fashion sense--people would never guess from my trendy exterior that I love fantasy, cartoons, video games, webcomics, graphic novels, folklore, fairytale retellings, YA and children's literature and plan to be a published YA fantasy author someday. I also like more "normal" things like ethnic food, movies, museums, shoes, London, the beach, parks, sailing, my nephew Owen (4) and niece Ava (2). I do not love rabid squirrels (don't ask). If you can't tell, I also love parentheses and dashes. Like many others on this site, I attend BYU (which I love and tolerate alternatively). Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am still working on my BA in English (with Creative Writing, Editing, and Children's Literature emphases--no minors, but lots of emphases i.e. CREDITS). I am a super-super-senior and I know they are dying to get rid of me but too bad they're just going to have to wait. ;)
Currently I am working as an intern at the Friend magazine--a religious magazine for children produced by the LDS Church, of which I am a member. I *love* my job and only wish that it would never end. When it does end in August (with no hope of employment due to the strict requirement of an editor needing 2 years full-time experience), I don't know what I'm doing. But I like Salt Lake so I may stick around.

I am Greg Creer.
I am a former TLE member. I was the production director when EUOL (who is some guy I met in Korea) was the Editor.
Now I have fallen into darkness and have become an attorney. I actually don't work as an attorney. I am currently a judicial law clerk (the guy who writes the opinions for the judge and lets the judge know what the really is, if he/she cares). None the less, I have a law degree and I've been admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and Iowa and hope to make into Colorado soon.
I am married to a girl named Sue (an appropriate name for lawyer's wife) and have two sons, Isaac and Leif.
I currently live in Iowa but I will be moving to Denver, Colorado in a couple of months. I still won't be working as an attorney in Colorado when I get there. I will be pursuing an advance legal degree (LLM) in tax law. This will hopefully land me a job at a "big firm" where I can work long billable hours to sell my life for "big bucks."

Hi! I'm Peter (Ookla the Mok)'s sister Helena. He had mentioned the site a couple of times so I thought I would check it out.
I went to BYU (English major) and was on the staff of The Leading Edge for my last semester (winter 96), where I enjoyed a very brief stint as an assistant fiction person. I'm still not sure if the story I ran the editing group on actually got published or not.
I served in the Korea Taejon mission (92-93) and married Doug Jole, who was also on TLE, but not at the same time. We spent three years in Newfoundland and are now in Tacoma Washington. After being married for eight years we gave birth to The World's Cutest Babyâ„¢. She's keeping us busy.
I'm not really a gamer (aside from Settlers of Catan--does that count?) but I've always enjoyed Fantasy and SF books and TV/movies. Favorite authors are Lois McMaster Bujold and Terry Pratchett.
I do pencil portraits and paint the ocassional mural (this is not really lucrative because I'm very slow). Right now I'm painting Hogwarts Castle in a closet. It's the Cupboard Under the Stairs. It's taking much longer than I anticipated. (Baby complicates things a bit). I'm also getting into photography, though still very much a newbie.
I'm 5¾ years older than Peter, and I have exactly the same problem with mixing up Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Hello all--My name is Bryce, and I recently graduated with my MA in American Lit--emphasis on Film Adaptation--from BYU. That's the good news. The bad news is that I have no idea what I'm going to be doing next. Possibly write and live in a van down by the river. I'm married and have a son. Right now I live in Utah, but I claim Philadelphia as home. Ummm... I like to read and write YA fantasy, play video games--World of Warcraft currently--and watch movies and reality tv. So since I waste all that time anyway, I figured I might as well join up here, too. That's about all I have to say for now. Oh wait--EUOL and Chimera made the suggestion today that I really ought to mention how I came upon this site. I've been in one of EUOL's writing groups for about the last year and a half--the one Chimera's in with him now. He's been suggesting for quite some time that I get involved here. I've just been reluctant. But here I am at last.

I'm Domini, from Chicagoland, Illinois. I'm a sucker for good coverart, Tor, and occasionally listening to Orson Scott Card's book recs, so I picked up Elantris and found myself here.
I am tech support for a small software company during the day hours, webmaster for a fan author website called House Eglantine (http://www.entanglement.us/eglantine) in my spare time, and wanna-be writer. I read too much and spend waaaay too much time online.

Um...I'm 22. Not college educated, but I like to read things. Female. 4 foot 11 inches. ex-professional eBay seller. Optimistic. And I want a hybrid serval-domestic cat cross, but those cost like $2000 each so I'm saving my pennies. In the meantime I intend to find a nice kitty from a shelter, so I can have a balance between expensive cat, and helping a homeless cat.

Let's see, where to begin. Ah yes... My name is David, pay no mind to the alias, it's the least feminine one I use.
I found myself staring at Elantris with an odd expression on my face. I didn't have money to buy it that day - so sad - but I did order it later. I finally read it, and followed the linked roads to these forums.
I suppose as a Time Waster I could be one of the world's best. I can waste time without even needing something to waste time with. I suppose I'd be one of those 'strange' people in school that are always off in their own little world - but I'm not in school anymore.
I also play video games, though not nearly as much now as I did a few months ago. I've gone to E3 the last two years with Warcry.com to write articles, which you can find in their 'archive' under the author name 'Tryna'.
I recently backed down a bit from the site since I am soon to move to Houston, TX from my present location of Orangevale, CA. To fill the time, I started to read books, which I hadn't done with much consistency since I'd been in 6th grade.
Aside from reading, I spend some time writing. I love to write; to create. I have no finished novels, but I have a few 'in the cooker' so-to-speak. One day I hope to finish, and sell, my creations.

I was an inactive member of TLE for quite a while--right before EUOL became editor. I came off and on for a few years, so I have faces to put with a few of the names around here, but I don't expect all ya'll from TLE to remember me. I was pretty quiet. Hmm, I also know Ms. Fish and Chimera and EUOL and Tage in RL.
Since I really don't have an occupation at the moment (I was an animator for a few years . . . my only claim to fame) I'd have to say that I'm currently employed as a professional procrastinator. It doesn't pay very much, but it keeps me from getting too busy.

I got my PoliSci degree from BYU and my law degree from Baylor. So, naturally, I'm working as a web developer for an Internet company.
That's my day job. By night, I write science fiction and fantasy. I've had a few short stories published, and I recently completed a fantasy novel, though it still needs some revision before I send it out.

I'm Vanessa Christenson, I live in Orem, Utah, and I'm a stay-at-home-mom. I dabble in fantasy writing.
I was the editor at TLE for issue #36. TWG started not long after I left, but I found out about this site through the TLE ads and only bothered to check things out recently.
I graduated from BYU in 1998 with a degree in English and a minor in Agronomy (Agriculture for all you city folk). You see, I grew up on a dairy farm, so if I write about farmboys who save the world, I at least have some first-hand experience, unlike other authors... I'm originally from Oregon, but am stuck in the beehive state because my husband has decided he wants to work here.
I worked as a full-time technical writer for 5 years, 4 of which were in St. Louis, Missouri, while my husband was going to school, until my second child was born. Now I do work from home for a local contract company. I have three kids [aka the demon spawn] and am married to a medical doctor.
I primarily read fantasy, Orson Scott Card, Robert Jordan, Robin McKinley, Robin Hobb, Patricia Briggs, Lois McMaster Bujold and the like. I also read a lot of mainstream fiction, mostly because my book club is full of speculative fiction-hating LDS women (I did sneak in "Ender's Game" one month, though).

I also like to play computer games, video games, board games, card games. basically if it is a game i will try it if i have the opportunity. spriggan also showed a group of us how to play star wars minis at a time wasters party. It is a fun game i would recommend people try. Also might be getting into magic a little more after playing in a Ravnica booster draft thanks to stacer:)

Well, my name is still Sarah Bylund. And Orem, UT is still my home town. Plus, I'm still living and working in Boston, Massachusetts.
BUT I just graduated with my second MA degree--this one in Publishing & Writing from Emerson College. Yay! How does it feel to be done with grad school? Cool. In fact, it feels supercalifragilisticexpealidocious.
Back in April of 2005, I graduated with an MA in American lit from that mythical organization called BYU. (I audited a class from a fellow grad student--the Salt Vampire himself, in fact. ;)). I also put in some time as a slush puppy at TLE meetings. Ah, fun times...
Right now, I work for a textbook publisher. But my dream is to switch over to trade publishing--speculative fiction in particular. So I'm working towards becoming an agent or editor in the SF market. (This means, of course, that in a few years everyone who writes SF will want to be my friend! Goodie! *shrain rubs her hands together gleefully*)
My interests? Well, literature of all types, of course, and good movies in most any genre except horror. My hobbies include reading (obviously), writing SF, cooking, collecting antique poison bottles and inkwells (no, really, it's cool--in a nerdy way), hoarding DVDs, taking photos, hosting small get-togethers, traveling, hanging out with friends, and doing nerdy stuff like going to museums or debating whether Batman could defeat Wolverine, etc., etc.
I'm also a recovering perfectionist. That is, I know I'm not perfect, and though I give my best, I don't obsess over things that are beyond my control. Like whether the "T" (Boston's subway system) is going to make me late for work or not. In life, some things are just mysteries and you'll never understand them. Like the Big Dig or politics or dating. ;)

I have been lurking for a bit and decided to take the plunge into posting. My name is Jean, and I stumbled into this forum after reading Elantris. I am 31 and live in Idaho, and much as I hate total conformity with a group, I also studied at BYU. ;D I received my bachelors and masters degrees there.
I am an avid reader with a loathing of bad writing. I am also a bit of a geek and proud of it! I love the arts and perform with several groups. I also enjoy the outdoors and have been addicted to a hobby called letterboxing for about 2.5 years. It is a great way to explore, solve mysteries, and collect creative artwork in the process. It is also fun to be a part of a 150 year-old hobby that most people have never heard of. Finally, I have a goal of visiting each of the continents in my life. So far I have three--the rest are to come.
So that's me in a nutsell. I would think of more fascinating details, but I'm too tired to create fiction at the moment.

I am Rob Olsen, and I am the missing link between Tage and Tekiel. I am Tage's bigger (albeit younger) brother, and Tekiel is my younger sister.
Following in the footsteps of my parents, and Tage, I also graduated from Brigham Young University.
I have spent the last year and a half with my company sitting in front of a computer testing code and getting fat.
I play games when my wife lets me (usually on weekends, after our son goes to bed).
I know a few of you that I've met with my shorter bro., and I've probably even seen some of you the one or two times I went with him to TLE.
Anyways, I'm trying to start my own tiny forum, but I realized that I know absolutely nothing about forums, so I figured this would be a good place to learn, and meet some of these mysterious people I hear my siblings talk about.
Oh, and I didn't graduate in anything artsy fartsy, so I'm not a professional editor or writer, I just test code in Oracle databases, so you'll have to forgive me if, and when, I forget my i's before e's. (and yes, have entire paragraphs consisting of one sentence with way too many commas)

Hello, I am a fifteen year old student at a school in Orem, and will be attending Orem High School this fall. I am an avid fan of both sci-fi and fantasy, fantasy being the favorite. I have read a fair bit of the classics but have had a hard time reading all of them because everyone I talk to seems to have a different list of what the classics are. At any rate, I ran into this site after Brandon Sanderson and Rob Wells came to my Creative Writing class. Brandon told me to feel free to send him hate mail; his exact words to my question if anyone had sent him any were "No, but you can be the first." I eventually did, but it was almost a year later after I had been a member of this site for about as long.
Books of Brandon's that have come out that I have read include Elantris and The Final Empire. I have read about three quarters of Rob's book, The Counterfeit.
I have fun, when permitted, by hanging out with friends, reading, writing, playing video games, and messing around with computers. Some of my favorite games are Halo 1 and Halo 2, Fable and Fable: the Lost Chapters, the Star Wars Battlefront franchise, Chrono Cross, and the Legend of Zelda franchise. Some of my favorite books that are unrelated to this site are Treason, Ender's Game, Exenocide, and Empire, all by Orson Scott Card. In addition I am also a somewhat jaded fan of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, on the same note The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien continues to be one of my favorite books. Isaac Asimov's Robot Dreams, the only book I have read of his, is also a favorite, and in particular the story The Last Question in the aforementioned book. If you want to know something that is almost certain to make me rant, and that I hate almost above all others, then mention the depraved Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini. I recommend reading it as a guidebook for two things; a) something to laugh at on bad days and b) what to avoid in your own writing.
Plans for my future include getting a degree in something to do with computers, and then after working and supporting my family with the money from that trying to get published as an author. If this works out then my grand plan of retiring at thirty five to write will be complete.
There you have it, a shorter, much less embarrassing and downright sad introduction after about a year and a half later from the time of my joining this site.

Wow, this is a great place to come when you can't get to sleep! Like so many others here, I'm a student at BYU. I took Brandon's creative writing class last winter semester, read Elantris when it came out, and am not-so-patiently waiting for Mistborn. ;) I'm working on my Linguistics BA at the momen. I'm currently involved in a campaign of The Riddle of Steel, reading about 4 books at once, writing my senior thesis, planning my wedding, and amist it all slowly working on my own novel.

My name's Danielle Smith, and right now I'm in the Marines (until 2008 ), stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. I'm picking up sergeant on December 1st, so I'm pretty stoked. I'm a computer geek by MOS (job), but I'm administration/training in my company office right now, and like that a lot more.
I was born in Guam (Air Force brat), but hail from Ogden, UT. I plan on moving back when I get out of the Marines ... I love that state.
I'm married, with a uber-computer-geek husband, a budding Star Wars geek son (4 years old), and a really chubby daughter (she's 7 months old). My mom made the crack at my wedding that it took moving *out* of Utah to marry someone with the last name Smith. ;D
Let's see ... I love D&D (3rd edition ... I can't wrap my head around THAC0), White Wolf, collecting Star Wars stuff - I'm a super duper Star Wars nerd - Lord of the Rings, British comedy (especially "Red Dwarf"), comic book movies, and musicals. I got hooked on "Smallville" a month ago, although that might mostly be for Michael Rosenbaum. ;)
I'm currently going to college (Westwood, based out of Denver and 100% online) to be a graphic designer, and am really glad I made the decision to go back to college after putting it off for some time (I'm 24, 25 in January).
I love being online, meeting new people with similar interests, writing fanfiction, sketching (although I can admit most of them aren't very good), and being snarky. :) I have a LiveJournal, a Star Wars blog, and a DeviantArt account. Green Day's my favorite band right now, closely followed by Bad Religion (perennial favorite - I have every CD they've released, including the second one), the Misfits, and Pantera.
Well, that's probably more than any of you wanted to know ... oh, and just to fulfill my "Wanting to Fit In" quota for the month, I was going to go to BYU and study law, back when I was a junior in high school and had a lot of ambition. Then I joined the military, and there went that. :D

Hello, my name is Stephanie Fowers. No, I don't play whatever games you guys are talking about (I'm sorry, I'm technologically unadvanced where games are concerned, so I guess I'll be the peasant forever or whatever you want to call me), but I do love to write science-fiction. I've actually written a book called, 'Rules of Engagement.' It's an LDS chick lit book, and I really am fond of it. But I actually wrote it to get some resume, so I could get an agent and get my sci-fi published. Although, now I have two favorite genres (it's funny how that happens).
Like a lot of you, I'm presently living in Provo, Utah. I graduated from BYU in English and Communications. I was going to go into advertising...until I decided to see where my writing would take me. And now here I am, working as an assistant at an Elementary school helping out with the special ed, and writing another LDS chick lit book AND putting the finishing touches on my latest sci fi book, 'The Few (working title).' Well, I shall start (as one usually does) by stating that my name is Mary. Â I go to a small, private, Catholic college in Maine (it's useless to tell you as I Â believe there is only one, so if you want to know you can look it up) and I like parenthetical statements, as is most likely very obvious. Â I am a Theology/Comunications double major and I love to play with words and manipulate people's minds with emotions and feelings that I wrte down on paper.
I don't usually introduce myself when I join a new message board, but for some odd (and most likely preverted) reason I decided that I should just do it.
You will probably not see a lot of me, as I don't have oodles of time to spare, and you most likely won't see me RPGing, if one can even say that, but I am impressed so you definitely won't be permenately rid of me.
Yeah, so those three paragraph's sound kind of retarded but I'm lazy so I'm not going to re-write them. Â Deal. Â
Oh yes, as to the reading and fastastical and whatnot...well let's just say my friends never miss an opportunity to poke fun at my incessant love of the unnatural. Â I stumbled upon this site and found it quite to my liking. :)

My name is Ruth Owen. I was an underage freshman the year EUOL was editor of TLE. I feel like I'm in the minority in that I'm not into gaming (unless you count Scrabble). I do, however, love reading and writing sf and fantasy.
I am married and expecting my first son in April. My husband and I live in Midvale, UT for the moment, but we may move relatively soon. I work as a technical writer for Zions Bank (well, actually, I work for a company called McKinnon-Mulherin, which in turn has hired me out to Zions Bank).
I got my degree in English from BYU in April 2005 after having decided in November 2004 that the degree I was then working for (English Teaching) was not going to lead to bliss as I had hitherto supposed.
I suspected that I knew a lot of you on here, but in reading this thread, I realize that I know way more of you than I thought. Cool!

Hi, my name is Jacqueline Joy, hmmm... I am a senior at BYUI. I am graduating in Business in August! I can't wait, but aparently I can since I was supposed to graduate in Dec but I missed one very essential class, IBC. Ya woah! ;D not a good idea to do. But Oh well! I love to make movies, right now I am helping on a movie called Apocolypse crusaders: Red Hand. It is going to be around two and a half hours long. Our longest movie yet, when I say our I mean my brother's and mine. This week I am making a music video with my guy friends it is going to be backstreet boys 'I want it that way.' next week we are going to make a spice girls video and I am pretty excited.

Im a senior at BYU doing business managment and marketing, and I am the assistant manager at Waldenbooks up in the Fashion Place mall in Murrey, Utah.

Name's Robert, although I often go by the screen name of Rainbow Despair on most forums. Graduated from BYU last year with a Chinese major and almost an English major (1 class short). While I was at BYU, I was rather active in the Quark club (did PR for a short time, plus I was good friends with all of the officers while I was there).
I'm a hardcore gamer. Console RPGs are my favorite, followed closely by Survival Horror games (like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Siren, that sort of stuff). However, I play just about anything aside from sports titles. Oh and I like to import foreign games and play those too (I know a little Japanese plus my Chinese fluency lets me understand a lot of Kanji).
Other major hobbies include reading Science Fiction and Fantasy, various animes (favorites include Azumanga Daioh, Slayers, Nadesico, and Genshiken), listening to Rock & Roll & J-Pop, and wasting way too much time on the internet. I used to be really big into the Magic CCG entering tourneys and even winning a few minor ones, but I eventually gave it up because I felt like I was spending too much time & money on it. Oh and I've done a little RPGing as well, but not much.
As for my sci-fi reading, Isaac Asimov is my favorite author. I'm a big fan of Douglas Adams as well. For fantasy, I tend to read mostly YA fiction. Oh and my favorite non-fantasy/sci-fi piece of fiction is probably Anne of Green Gables. Yeah, I know it's an odd choice for a guy, but Anne's just awesome, there's no denying it. :)
I'm currently in Taiwan teaching English at a cram school to 150 or so students ranging in age from about 5 to 14. Although I don't get paid all that much, the cost of living is just about nil here particularly since the cram school gave me a nice apartment almost entirely to myself (I've got the whole second floor) for free and I don't have to worry about transportation much (cheap buses plus I have a bike). Therefore, the plan is to make a bunch of money while I'm here so that I can focus more fully on making a career for myself as a writer. Dunno how long I'll stay; I'm currently signed on until the end of October 2006.
I'm currently working on a book called Krystal Unbalanced. It's about a princess who wants to become a heroic witch and her cat familiar. It's told in the first person perspective with the cat as the POV character. Looks like it's going to end up as light comic YA fantasy when it's done. Not that I set out trying to write YA mind you, it just happens.
I'm 25, LDS, and single. Average height, black hair, glasses, you know your typical geeky appearance. ;)
Oh and I found this forum, first through the Quark forums and secondly through Brandon's website. Rather like Elantris & looking forward to his other books. He's a cool guy too (had his creative writing class & I was in a sci-fi/fantasy class w/him before he started teaching) so be sure to buy all his books. :)

I'm Jeromy Caballero, and while I am slowly pulling away from life on Internet forums, I thought I could waste some quality time here. :) I am proud that it only took me 30 minutes or so to find the proper place to post an intro.
A certain Mr. Wells was kind enough to refer me to this site. I've known Dan for years now and have had the pleasure of working with him at The Leading Edge and as his colleague in A Paying Job.
I worked at The Leading Edge all through my years at BYU, from 1995 to the end of 1999, ending up as Associate Editor before life tugged me away to other pursuits. It was some of the best experience I have had in the writing world (and the nadir of my writing career so far, based on a stupid article of mine in one of the issues, but live and learn). I am very grateful to whoever posted that ugly little flyer I found in the SWKT early in my first semester at BYU. It led me over to the HumPub for the first time and introduced me to some very fine people and the perfect opportunity to do what I love the most--read speculative fiction.
I recognize some of the names posted in this thread. Hello to former TLE colleagues! I pretty much dropped off the map after I left, and I apologize for not keeping in touch. I was about to get married, was working full time, and had graduated from BYU--big life-changing stuff.
Seems like I left right before a golden age (or more likely, my departure helped prompt said golden age). Brandon took my place, and apparently the rest is history. Let me say how proud I was to see Brandon's name on the cover of Elantris. I first saw the book in WaldenBooks at the Provo mall. The sales guy told me there was a new book by someone at BYU, and went and got it out of the back. I actually did the cartoon jaw-drop and the google-eyes. Then I had to bubble about how I knew Brandon, how he had been my Assistant Production Director at one point (it even says so on one of the mastheads! [/shameless name-dropping]), and how awesome it was to see him in print--by TOR, no less! Way to go, Brandon!
So I'm happy to be here, and excited to re-make some acquaintences.

Ok so... Introductions! Im Caiti, college student and geek. I finally gave into my geekness about 4 years ago when I started playing RPGs and LARPing. I act, so larping came as a natural, and I go through withdrawal when I dont rp often enough! I love Diablo and tried to steal it from my x but did not succeed so Im going through withdrawal until I can get some money to get myself a copy. Im from Boston, Mass, but currently live in Bangor, Maine. I stumbled on this website, and I LOVE it! Especially Geek Girl... I totally relate! I'm Kirjath Emet. No, that's not my real name, but you can search and put together what it means if you want. I'm MsFish's DM's brother, so that's where I heard of this site from. I actually did attend BYU, but I'm living in San Francisco, California. I'm not really from anywhere. I grew up a military brat, so I was born in Germany and have lived all over the world.
I graduated from BYU with a degree in Computer Science and worked with Disney for a while before getting my dream job working in a video game company. Yes, I'm fortunate and yes I know it. However there was A LOT of work and study that went into my getting this job, so you can't say I was all that lucky.... more like stubborn.
My interests are WAY too varied to try to list here. Suffice it to say that I do a great deal of role-playing, video games, table top gaming, board games, reading and occasionally writing.
I'm a listener/watcher so I'll probably not post much. Though I do post more on a few other boards that are easy to find if you search for them. I'll contribute when I can, and simply read while I can't.

I'm Bajcz, 18, out of Michigan. I'm into tons of video and computer games, as well as movies, music, sports, and all that good stuff. My interests vary too much to make them really worth listing here, but you all can at least take comfort in the fact that I'm not good at a single one of them.
At any rate, I was refered to this site by a friend of mine (screenname: Onionofdeath), and have seen several of my friends on this site before and thought I would check it out. I do a lot of writing and would like to contribute a few movie reviews to the site as soon as I'm finished acclimating myself to the forum.

BOY HOWDY! I'm Noa(h) Satoru Lombardo, and I'm here to have epic battles with sir Raden.
I'm just your average fancy lad. My interests are flexible to say the least, but I've been trying to maintain a constant interest in electronic entertainment (everybody loves video games), health and fitness (diabetes runs in the family, and I don't want to end up a house like uncle Keith), and music. Yeah, I tend to listen to a lot of classic rock and jazz. Usually if it's old, I like it, since most of the stuff MY generation puts out there is crap. My dad called me a "throwback" to his time when he heard some of my CDs, so I called him OLD. Then I yoinked his Boz Scaggs collection to rip to my Zen player. Right back at'cha, pops.
Here's a quick fact list:
1. I like puppies.
2. I like kittens.
3. Okay I just like animals in general.
4. There is no 4.
5. River otters are my favorite, but don't tell my dog or cat that. It's okay to tell the fish, they don't like me anyway.
6. My favorite video game is Megaman II, way back on the NES.
7. I'm not much for movies... you tend to get desensitized to them when your dad owns a video store. But um... I guess I like 2001: A Space Odyssey.
8. I like books. Reading is funducational.
9. I sometimes make greyscale ASCII art. Pixel density is the true sight.
10. If you ask me something, I'll probably tell you.

Hello all.  I'm Megan, I live in Sandy Utah, and I found this site the other night while I was fighting another round of insomnia (lost terribly I might add). ÂÂ
I'm not very fond of describing myself (though if you have any questions feel free to ask), but I'm what you might call a closet geek about all this stuff.  I openly love computer based rpg's, such as Final Fantasy.  I'm a huge fan of StarWars, Farscape, and such.  I also love the Robert Jorden series "The Wheel of Time".  But have not been able to get into other types of rpg's and the like, though would like to.
I love movies, books, writing, acting, and a guilty pleasure of mine is karaoke (don't knock it till you try it).  Though except for movies and karaoke haven't been able to get into alot of much lately.  I'm hoping this site will stimulate those lost/hidden passions of mine. ÂÂ

I'm a self commited gamer. Over the years I've spent hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on games of any kind.
Out of my 36 miniature armies GW stuff occupies a fair chunk at 11 armies, (6 40k, 2 fantasy and 3 Epic).
I like to write, and have recently written my own Beer 'n' pretzels RPG that need playtesting, (PM me if you want in).
Of my other hobbies, the one that stands out would be target shooting. I own a .22 rifle and a .177 air rifle.
And, um, that's mostly it. I'm keeping all the good stuff till later.

Imagine that. I entered a posting renaissance after Brandon's wedding, however, so here I am.

Anyway.
I'm from Montgomery, Alabama and I currently attend Huntingdon College. To date, I've written six novels and am close to finishing a seventh. And that's about it. I write. I read. And write some more. I don't know how much I'll be around, because I'm always bogged down with writing, work or school. Or something else. Don't worry: It will come up.
Though I don't do it anymore (no friends) I used to play Magic: The Gathering. Never went anywhere with that, though.
I also work for Target Corporation. Don't ever do that. Bad idea.
I read that a number of people here worked on staff for The Leading Edge Magazine, which I take as a good thing for me since I'm publishing with them in the fall. Good times.

I've been writing since I was in High School, but have never actually finished anything I've written, until I picked up The Complete Idiots Guide to Publishing Science Fiction. That was the perfect book for me...and my brother sent it to me, but I don't know what he was implying...Really.

I grew up in the wilds of Utah County. I went to Ricks College back when it was still called Ricks College, and I'm very adamant that I graduated from Ricks College, and not from BYU-Idaho.
I'm a graphic designer, an artist, and an as-yet-unpublished writer.
As an adult, I have lived in Calgary, AB; San Diego, CA; Durham, NC; and San Francisco, CA, which is where I currently dwell. I have yet to leave North America, unless you're of the school fo thought that regards Mexico as Central America, in which case, I once spent a pleasant afternoon in Tijuana.
I read obsessively. I read shampoo bottles even. The movers HATE me, because I have about six bookcases worth of books, and despite trying to pack these in the smallest boxes I can find, to save their back muscles, it all adds up.
I play video games. I started with NetHack and Rogue and Pac Man, moved merrily on to Civilization in it's earliest incarnations, Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, Quake, Gauntlet, Diablo, Zelda, World of Warcraft, etc. I have an Atari 2600--I traded my sister to my brother-in-law for it. I said, "Hey, neat, you have an Atari 2600." He said, "I can get you one." I said, "Cool, you can marry my sister if you want."
How I ended up here: I read a review on OSC's site about Elantris. Then I saw the cover of Elantris in Spectrum. Then I found Elantris in the bookstore one day and thought, "Hey, that book with that cover that OSC likes." Then I read Elantris. Then I googled the EUOL. Then I came here. A very simple chain of causality.

I'm here because I saw Brandon Sanderson's Elantris in the bookstore and liked the cover. Well, that's how it started. I liked the blurb, too; enough that when I went back home I read the book's reviews on Amazon, then went back to the bookstore and bought the book itself. Continuing the theme, I liked the book, and put the author on my "keep track of" list.
I live near Boston, do web stuff for a living, write a little on the side, and am typically more critical and long-winded than this message would indicate.

I found this website completely by accident, and later saw that there were some people I knew who were associated with it. I mostly check out the books section. I'm in the process of working on my first novel. A friend and I are co-writing it, and things are coming along smashingly. Grew up in Arizona. 29 yrs old. I'm mostly interested in 'Time Wasting' in the Writing section. I first came to the forum when I took Brandon Sanderson's BYU writing class. The necessity of working, having six busy children that I enjoy doing things with, and being an aspiring writer I don't waste nearly as much time on the site as I'd like. :(
I'm fortunate enough to have regular contact with Brandon and some of the other Luminaries on the site. I'm just hoping that some day a little of their talent, discipline, and intelligence will rub off on me. I've been in several writing groups and written on and off for years. I think taking Brandon's class was the best thing I've done for my writing.

My name is Dawn, I live in Spokane, Washington. I have a husband, two children, both boys ages 6 and 3 years old. While I love them I do love to escape from them occassionaly, and I use books to do that. I am an avid reader, and have been since I was a child, according to my parents.
I discovered Brandon Sanderson (EUOL) totally by accident. I post on another author's site and we were doing a reading club and Elantris was nominated, and won, for a reading and discussion. Since then I have been hooked. I found his site, and then Warbreaker here, and have just browsed around a bit since then. I post sporadically, so far, but the more comfortable I get and the more of the site that I see, the more I will undoubtedly start to post. I have been told that I am a bit opinionated, and I wasn't quite sure if it was said in a good way, or in a bad way.

My name is Natasha and I live in Chandler, Arizona. I have been married for 25 years and have 3 kids--22, 18 and 14. I am a registered nurse, most of my nursing career spent in Labor and Delivery.
I have been an inverterate fantasy/sci fi reader since about age 14 when my dad told me I couldn't read that stuff because it was useless trash. I managed to convert my 18 year old so that he loves to read fantasy as much as I do, but the other two don't even like to read, if you can imagine that.
I am another one that followed EUOL's trail to this website, and have wasted many pleasurable hours lurking around, enjoying everyone's sense of humor and community. Thanks for letting us newbies enter your world!

Hey everybody! I'm Andrew, and I'm paranoid about giving out a lot of personal (i.e. identifying) information online. I live in Massachusetts, I'm sixteen years old, and I'm a sophomore in high school. The town in which I reside is a boring, soul-crushingly mundane place, and it's caused me to reject the rest of the U.S. as a habitable country. I hope to move to Canada, Australia, or Holland.
I haven't paid nearly as much thought to higher education as I probably should have at this point. All I know about where I want to attend school is that it better not be anywhere near where I live now. I've considered a lot of possible majors, though the most likely are psychology (because I enjoy understanding the way minds work), philosophy (because nothing's more interesting), political science (because I love politics), english (because it's my best subject), journalism (because I'm the editor of my school paper), or gay and lesbian studies (because I'm an out-and-proud gay).
I read and write with most of my spare time. I used to play Magic: The Gathering, but a lack of other players around me caused me to stop. I still have all of my cards, though. When I'm not reading and writing, I'm usually either working at a nursing home or shopping. I love clothes, and can be fairly materialistic and shallow at times. But hey, every man has his foibles. I also play tennis, though I'm horribly out of practice.
I found my way here because I looked on EUOL's website after reading Elantris, and there was a link. That's about it.

I love to read, although my reading time has taken a hit recently as I get used to my bionic eye. Okay, it's not bionic but it's not entirely mine either. I write a lot too. Mostly crap, but I've written an excellent word or two. My most recent ones were "winced" and "tipsy". ::) I play video games religiously. I've upset a few hard core gamers when they find out they've been beaten by a girl. Get over it. Since I have to pay the bills I'll keep my job in insurance, but I wish I didn't have to. Where's a suger daddy when you need one?
I linked here from Brandon Sanderson's own page and I've even met the guy. If you guys can stand him you're either very patient or just as crazy as he is. Either way we should get along just fine.

Hello, my name is Justin Reinhardt.
Currently I teach high school English (10th and 11th grade), I have my BA in English, with minors in History/Anthropology. Starting my grad work in the spring - going to test the waters and head for a Masters in Creative Writing.
Officially, I have written little - but over the years, I have written hundreds of pages of D&D material and some things for other games (Lots of Shadowrun, too). Poetry and short stories (fantasy) kept me going through college, when Diablo II, and later World of Warcraft didn't relentlessly eat away at my time.
Like Dragonfly and Dreamking, I followed Brandon Sanderson's working over to this wonderful forum. Something about wasting time reading always appealed to me. I have read tons of fantasy (some sci-fi), so if anyone ever wants something recommended, I'm your guy. And if I don't know the book/author, point me in the right direction and I'll read it.

I am Kevin Evans, wandered in here after meeting Brandon at few conventions, got to the conventions because some of my friends were also attending. My wife and I currently reside in Rio Rancho New Mexico. I also attended BYU, but left after they combine my major was a numbercrunching major. Since then I have spent 13 years in the Army and 11 years working for the FAA. Among my interests is a group called the SCA where I've been involved in hand-to-hand combat for the past 37 years. I read and collect science fiction have my walls completely covered with bookshelves and still have far too many books for the bookshelves. My wife and I are frequent contributors to the Grantville Gazette, this is a magazine publishes a part of the canon of the 1632 story braid by Eric Flint. 1632 was going to be Eric Flint's stand-alone Y2K novel, demand for a sequel, and continuing interest have pushed this in two over three million words in print, that is over nine novels and 14 short story collections. We (my wife and I) are continuously interested in improving our writing styles and abilities. We have however come to the realization that writing cannot replace our day job. (My wife says, "it is my day job")

We began gaming with a little paper pamphlet called Chain Mail in the 70s. I personally have been involved in the development of several now long gone games, among them Tunnels and Trolls And Mustangs and Messerschmitt's. Currently I Spent Far Away Too Much Time Hacking Away at PC Games.

Well I live in Tasmania (yes we do have Tasmanian Devils and no they don't spin around!) I have 3 daughters and 2 permanent foster sons, so I have no common sense, what is worse is they are 8,7 and 5. While this doesn't add up - it means I have three 5 year olds. Can't get much worse can it.
Pre-children I was a fraud investigator for a bank but now apart from housework and slacking of at my husbands business, my life is pretty much like being a taxi driver.

I write science fiction, fantasy, and a smidge of horror. So far, it's all been short stories, but I hope to write a novel someday. My goal this year is to finish at least one story a month (fell down on that in August *sigh*), and to submit something every quarter to Writers of the Future until I either win or am no longer eligible. I've had one story accepted by Renard's Menagerie.
I also cut my writing teeth on fanfiction. *dodges tomatoes* I know, I know, controversial topic to some. But Joss said we should go forth and write the stuff, and who the heck am I to say "no" to him?

Hi everyone, I'm Mike, and I live in Portland, Oregon. I'm about to turn fourteen and start High School next year. (i'm not looking forward to it.)
I'm fond of writing short and long fiction of sci-fi stories. However, I'm cursed with a very short attention span and so i've had alot of trouble finishing those stories. *sighs and shake his head* I've tried fan fictions on occasion, and I usually only do them on books I like, however, I've always though Fan fictions were incredibly shaky ground for me, hardcore fans are sometimes hard to please.
I'm not too sure what people think of my writing outside of my home and classroom. I've been told i'm good, but I always take good criticism badly. I tend to wonder how true it really is...but that's just me.

Hmm...I'm scared of posting but as a mother of 10 and probably the oldest here, I guess I shouldn't be! I'm Avis Fossett and live in WY currently with my husband and nine of our children. We also have residing with us: a rottweiler named Akachan, a poodle named Sakura, two lovebirds, a cockatiel named Kame that barks and meows, a ferret named Haiyama, and some large goldfish my daughter won't let us get rid of!! I live in a virtual zoo of animals of all kinds and it actually is fun sometimes in our organized insanity! My husband Jim has tendencies towards the character of "Monk" (tv show), a military drill master, and an overgrown boy that I still adore after 24 yrs of marriage. I knew Pemberly many yrs ago when she taught in WY. And because of her, I read and bought Mistborn 1 and Elantris. Brandon is a very creative writer. I like his fresh "worlds" he creates. I don't care for the rape and murder scenes that I've "seen" as I've read his books, but I love the genius of his worlds that he develops that draws me in to want to have powers like the girl in Mistborn. (I forget my own children's names so it isn't a slight on your story characters, Brandon!) So here I am as I have titled myself as "Queen Mother".

My name's Paige. I'm a news reporter and anchor at a small-market radio station somewhere in Manitoba, Canada. I've been an avid reader all of my relatively short life (21 years) and have dabbled with writing, though lately it's been more writing "for the ear" not "for the eye" - in other words, writing for radio.
Yes, I too was drawn here by Brandon Sanderson. I randomly picked up Elantris over a year ago at a book store; the title drew my attention and the prologue immediately hooked me. Ironically, despite being a life long fantasy reader (I was scouring Bulfinch's Mythology at age ten), Elantris immediately became my favourite novel. It has elements of existentialism, which is a philosophy that I relate to and that (for lack of a better term) matches my personal beliefs. I don't think it was intentional on the author's part, but it really grabbed me!
I've since picked up Mistborn and am waiting for the second to come out on paperback (don't let anyone tell you that radio pays well to start).
I've been peeking over the boards for a few days now after being directed from www.brandonsanderson.com and thought I'd join in the haunting!

I've read MistBorn and I honestly have just finished The Well Of Ascension less than an hour ago. Not surprisingly, I spend most of my time at school. I'm an active member of the co-ed wrestling team there and I'm awaiting tryouts for Soft Ball-- Yes. I am a girl. Stewart is the name I fancy, my last name. I likely got used to it from my years in ROTC, however, I am currently out of the program and off of the Armed Drill Team there as well. When I'm not in school, you can usually find me chatting on the phone, on-line, on my spiffy 360 with and without friends, and even occasionally attending parties. I'm just your regular kid that way, I guess. :P

Hello all! My name is Victor Levy and I was born and live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I am 40 yrs young but look 25 - when I shave. I am married to a woman who I am convinced is descended directly from Leonidas the Greek king at the center of the movie 300. (What I am trying to say is that my wife is of Greek Spartan descent). We have a fantastic 7 yr old daughter with an attitude that makes me think of...me.
I released a CD in 2000 of some songs that I've had since I started writing songs just after high school - graduated in 1984. The second CD has been written for some time but getting musicians together can be somewhat daunting. I have had some of my poetry published in small anthologies. I am currently also writing my own contribution to the fantasy - science fiction genre. I play basketball and hockey with the enthusiasm of a 12 yr old :D
I discovered these forums through the announcement that Brandon Sanderson was completing the Wheel Of Time. Followed a couple of links, read Warbreaker version3.5 and VOILA! here I am!

My name is Kirk Artigue. I am a resident of Lafayette, LA and just an ordinary guy with no real life. I enjoy reading a great deal, though lately I seem to be finding less and less time to do so. I was born Nov. 8, 1981, so at the time of this post I am currently 26. I used to belong to several Forum Communities (mostly RP based and mostly Wheel of Time based).
I played a great deal of AD&D and the WoT RPG with a group of people for many years, spending a lot of time as the "A$$hole DM" (what can I say I had a bad attitude and was trying to learn the game literally hours before we would start playing). I have had varied professions and I tend to enjoy the simpler parts of society... thats a lie.. I don't really do social things at all. I was a High School Speech/Debate/Drama nerd with my face always shoved in a book and a trench coat, which earned me a various notorious reputation since my senior year was the year of Columbine.
I have an Associate Degree in Internet Information Systems that I do not use and have forgotten a lot of (not to mention not bothering to keep up with all the new stuff).
And I don't know what else to say. I'm pretty open to answering questions, but have in this post volunteered more information about myself than I usually do without being asked direct questions.
Oh, one more thing. I tend to be fairly blunt with my opinions and thoughts on a subject without really caring how people will perceive them.

Well it appears that I have followed some of the masses after the announcement about Brandon Sanderson finishing the Wheel of Time. I just finished Mistborn yesterday and have become a fan
Anyway my name is Mason and live in Tooele Ut. surrounded by all the fun chemical depots. I am the director of the ambulance service here and am going to school full time for Health Administration. Hello everyone! My name is Tyler. I'm 24 years old and have an AE in Electro-Mechanical Engineering (which I only mention because apparently having a degree is important...). Currently I work for a company as a Computer Aided Draftsman and do a little self taught programming on the side to assist in automated drafting (mostly in AutoLISP, but yesterday I wrote my first VB program for Solidworks woot!).
Today is my first day visiting this site and grats to me for first introduction post of the new year! I wandered on over here from Brandon Sanderson's site. Been a huge fan of all his work since I picked up Elantris from the new release stand a few years back. I typically just lurk sites like this but decided to register after I read through the FAQ. The community peaked my interest.
I actually don't read books that often. Just happened to be fortunate enough to pick up Elantris. Video games on the other hand are one of my passions. I have been playing video games as far back as I can remember. Online most people know me by Crux. Crux is my MMORPG character on Final Fantasy XI. I've been hopelessly addicted to the game since the NA PS2 release. Mostly I stick to RPG and FPS, and occasionally I'll pick up a fighter or an action/adventure.
Video games as I mentioned are just one of my passions, the other being movies. I LOVE movies. I'm not biased to one genre or another, I can and do watch movies from any genre. I love owning movies as well, I don't pirate or download movies though so it's a pretty expensive addiction... My Final Fantasy XI endgame linkshell, Foobar, has a php board that I post movie reviews on for fun. I haven't been doing it long/often but I think I'm getting better at it. Maybe I'll submit some movie reviews here eventually. Feel free to visit foobarhq.com though to see some of my reviews. I don't frequent the theater anymore though, so most of my "new" reviews are for movies that have just been released on DVD, BR, or HDDVD.
Oh one last thing, I relish a good religous debate. I noticed quite a few verteran members are relgious, so if one breaks out, I'm there!

Hello all!!! Like others before me I am WOTaholic and am very impressed with Mr. Sanderson works. After reading a couple of his books, Warbreaker v3.0 and the first Mistborn, I am now a huge fan. This seems like a good forum for myself as I am into reading, fantasy especially but other genres as well, video games, music mostly metal, all kinds of movies and just recently began to dabble in D&D again. As for that last one I'm not sure I like how rapidly they are introducing new versions. But, anyways hello everyone!

I thought it might be good to re-introduce myself. I haven't been on the site for a couple of years, and am just recently returning to the forums. Who knows, maybe I'll stick around this time. This is basically what I wrote the first time I introduced myself, but I've updated it to be more current.
My name is Nathan Sumsion. I'm a graduate from USU in Graphic Design, and for the past 10 years I've been a video game designer in Salt Lake, Germany, and North Carolina. I've worked on Dead Head Fred, Disney's Meet the Robinsons, Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet, Spy Vs. Spy, Robotech: Invasion, Far Cry, Legends of Wrestling 2, Circus Maximus, and Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000. Currently I'm living in Salt Lake City, working for Avalanche Software / Disney Interactive.
I'm married with 3 kids, the oldest boy is almost 5. My wife hit level 70 in World of Warcraft before I did, and now her entire family is playing. Her mom was actually the first in the family to have her alt hit 70 also. So they put up with my gaming ways.
I've played role-playing games for the past... uh, 28 years I guess. Favorites are D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Stormbringer, World of Darkness, and basically anything I could find a group of people willing to play with me. Currently I'm also really in to German boardgames and other ways to waste my time.
Big horror movie and sci-fi movie nut. Former comic junkie (my budget couldn't keep up with the habit once my son was born), but I work with enough guys who still collect that I can usually read over their shoulders on lunch breaks.
It goes without saying I'm a big video game player. Currently playing World of Warcraft, Mass Effect, Guitar Hero 3, Zelda Phantom Hourglass.
Looking forward to reading regularly in the forums.

I am 19 years old and in March will start on my third year of my Bachelor Degree in Design majoring in Illustration. I like getting into intellectual discussions about low brow subjects - it seems quasi-dirty somehow to be using very intellectual arguments to debate things which are (basically) entirely inane.
I write and work on the development of a couple of my own graphic/novel manga and have been for a few years now. I like to do writing writing as well but often fail at resisting the temptation not to draw in my margins.
Anyway, I really do love Design and illustration, it's totally my vocation so if anyone ever wants some help drawing something up or whatever or wants to offer suggestions for illustrations (as I'm currently building my working portfolio) I'm usually fairly keen and open.
Uh, I also read Jame's Gurney (illustrator/author of Dinotopia)'s blog which is fascinating for all visually expressive people (animators, comickers, artists, whatever).

Well, I just finished Elantris, which i thoroughly enjoyed! I discovered Sandersons' books through Jordans' Wheel of time and I'm glad i did. Back in December i brought the 1st part of the 1st WOT book from my local library...having read trough the whole published series by middle of January, i googled to find out when the last one would be coming out, and that was when i found out Mr Jordan had passed aways last year. Reading through his blog, i decided to get acquainted with the author who would finish his work and am very glad i did...
So, to present my self: my name is Alexandra, i'm a 32 year old wannabe historian who ended up working her whole life in aviation... more importantly, I'm a full time fantasy and sci-fi devourer of books. I was lucky enough to profit from my mother's vast collection of books from early age and although i read pretty much any thing, i always return to my ever favorites (the 2 above mentioned genres). I have this terrible weakness - if a book grabs me, i wont be able to stop until i reached the last page (forget sleep, food or anything that comes between me and my book!)
I currently leave in London, although I'm originally form Portugal.
I'm waiting for my second Sandersons' book to arrive by post and now that i found out the Warbreaker online, wandering how can i print it with out spending to much money (can't get used to read from a screen)

Hello all! My name is Danielle and I reside in good old Happy Valley. I'm 20 years old and a professed nerd. I currently attend school at BYU where I'm studying biochemistry. I can't precisely pinpoint when I started avidly reading fantasy, but it was at a young age. I love to plunge into a fantastical world where I don't have to think about the mounds of homework waiting for me in reality. To the great displeasure of my parents, I adore a good video game, preference going to RPGs such as Final Fantasy and also a good round of Super Smash Bros. Melee with my brothers (I can't wait for Brawl!). I wouldn't say I'm a writer, but it's an ephemeral dream of mine to write a book. Lastly, my range of interests includes music, and I can play 5 instruments (clarinet, saxophone, piano, organ, and flute).

Hello, I'm Kathy and though a devoted lurker, I figured I would come out of hiding in case I ever have something I need to say. I am compulsive reader, mostly science fiction and fantasy, with history, science, and anything else that looks interesting added to the mix. I have been keeping track of the books I've read since Sept. for my own curiosity and I'm now at about 60. So I love new book referals.
I am also the mother of 5 children, ages 9-1, so using complete sentences not related to bodily funtions or homework is a challenge for me sometimes. I live in Moab,UT, work only at home for no pay and have a BA from BYU in English, with minors in both math and physics. I figure I have a general knowledge of a lot of things, but specific knowlege in only a few, but I do know how to use both a search engine and a card catalog, so that's all right.

My name is Jason and I have always been a big fan of Sci-fi and Fantasy, whether it be books, movies, video games, whatever. I am married and have two children ages 18 months and 6 months (that's right, one year apart). I am also not afraid of the occaisional spirited debate, so feel free disagree with my opinions, just remember to bring your "A" game! :) My ADD is now taking over, so I can't think of anything else to say right now. Oh, one more thing: the Mistborn series is the best I've read since the Wheel of Time, and I can't wait to see what EUOL does with A Memory of Light. Not surprisingly, RJ's wife made a great choice.

I must shamelessly admit that Brandon Sanderson's WoT gig drew me here. Strangely during my time at BYU I never found my way to this forum - guess I spent too much time in the Theatre department and not enough time in the English department.
I am an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader and devour just about anything good I can get my hands on - most recently the fabulous Mr. Sanderson's complete works to date. I am also a huge fan of console RPG's, particularly the Final Fantasy series, for which I webmistress a fan-site. When I'm not at my less-than-perfect job grooming dogs I divide most of my time between reading, video games, and writing. I'm an aspiring writer but I'm also working my way into the video game industry as a game designer.
I also spend some of my free time watching anime, reading manga, and participating in anime conventions (and yes I cosplay).
Mostly I'm here for suggestions on new books to read and perhaps writing tips from others pursuing a writing career. I'll probably drop into the video game forum too.

Hello there :) Like many of the recent additions I came here through the whole "new wot author" thing, but I have to say I'm wondering why I didn't find or use this forum as it's not often that you find a forum with a general sense of humour and span of interests that closely match your own :)
Self summary: A 40+ web geek type with 2 kids who likes his fantasy. Favourite reads are fantasy novels with a sense of humour, also a big fan of Julian May's sagas. Claim to fame: Wikipedia thinks I was the inventor of open source journalism whilst I was an Editor at Jane's.

Hi ! My name is Louise and - I feel so unique - got to finally end up here after reading all of Brandon Sanderson's books just to get to see what type of author he is to accept writing the last volume of the WoT. I am ashame to confess that I had no clue of who he was till THE news !
I am always starving for a good read but I never just read a book... I read the author. Bad habit, I know, but I wont change that.
I'm also a big PC Rpg player\writer. English is not my first language, so please excuse any major mistake in my writing.
I'm also happily married and a mother of two young adults as crazy as I, but I guess, crazyness has to be not such a bad thing after all.

My favorite movies are The Good The Bad and the Ugly, Dr. Zhivago, To Have and Have Not, and . . . those are the ones I can think of at the moment.
As far as books, I like science fiction, preferably writers like Alastair Reynolds and Charles Stross. But I like most other kinds of books as well. Right now I'm reading A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens. Before that I read The World Crisis by Winston Churchill. Aaaand before that I read Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge.
I am fond of wasting time, which is what brought me here.

My name is Cirius Price and I'm 18 (almost 19). I'm a student of Computer Science in N. Cal (graduating next spring with a bachelors), and I came to this board after finding the link from Brandon's site (I'm one of those people that had to make sure the Legacy was being taken care of by the right person), and I'm very happy that I did.
I currently do contract programming jobs for various companies around the world, when I'm not stuck in class or rereading WoT/Elantris/Mistborn. Try not to get too flustered at my posts, as I do have a bit of ADD and a flair for trying to get people to think in new ways (not that that is a problem here ^^).

Outside of my house and the internet I play the part of Joe Cool. I'm what I like to refer to as a "Closet dork". I was your typical football jock until I stumbled onto the Lord of the Rings trilogy about 7 years ago, and since then I've turned full fledged dork. I've read just about any book I could grab, even tried my hand at gaming, and began to write my own story(not to be published, but for myself). I have twin boys who are 1.5 years old and a wife who finds my new found "dorkness" to be strange to say the least. As a long time WOT reader, I came to this site via Brandon Sanderson's links as he is writing the final WoT book but also because I ended up rather liking his Mistborn books.

My name is Bruce Guernsey, Jr. and I live in Cedar City, Utah. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in English literature at Southern Utah University. I plan on teaching English but still deciding whether to teach High School English or at the college level. This is a big departure from where I started, Pre-med, lol!
I am a rabid sci-fi/fantasy reader currently reading "The Corean Chronicles" by local Cedar City author L.E. Modessit, Jr. I have played D&D since I was ten and am currently DMing a local group here. I never had an interest in CCG's until the AEG produced fantasy CCG "Warlord" (based on 3rd Edition D&D) this naturally led me to dabble in Magic the Gathering (although I have lost my taste for it). Video games are also a big hobby of mine. I currently own a PSOne, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Dreamcast, and a 360.
Anyways, looking forward to browsing this site and engaging in some good conversation!

My name is Justin, and I'm based out of Portland, OR. I suppose it is the closest thing to a home that I have, but having moved around a great deal in my life, I am hesitant to use that word. I'm an aspiring author, and although I don't attend college yet, I have plans to in the fall.
I've only very recently begun my love affair with fantasy novels, and I find that I have been completely entranced by the storytelling and imagery inherent in the genre. I have been a fan of sci-fi novels since the first grade, much to the dismay of my parents and teachers. The last novel, which in fact I finished last night, was Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.

My name is Jason Salomone. I live in Flagstaff, AZ currently but was born in Queens, New York. I graduated with my BA from The University of Arizona. I double Majored in Psychology and Linguistics. I currently manage a rent-a-car location in Sedona, AZ. Not exactly what I want to be doing, but am currently taking time off whiel I study for the GRE. Hoping to figure out what it is that I want.
I consider myself a bit of a Renaissance Geek. Not in the sense that if you looked in my house you would mistake the year for 15XX (though I do know some people who are like that), but in the more original sense of the word. If you could consider it geeky, I probably have done it or still do it at this point. From band, drama, speech, writing, reading, computer building, video gaming, trvia gaming, CCGs, RPGs, tabletopping, etc.
Also thought I should mention that I was directed over to this site from Writing Excuses. never posted over there because I felt like I would have just been talking to talk. When I saw they had a put up a forum for the weekly prompts I figured it would be a good excuse to try and start writing again. Maybe actually improve myself and finish a project I have putting off for a while. But that all made too much sense...

My names Tim. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, in a small town called Millis, which is about 30 miles southwest of Boston. I'm 23 years old, but feel a lot older. :D
Spent the last 5 years in the Navy, two month in Chicago, two months in San Antonio, two years in Japan and two years (and some change) in Southern Maryland.
I've been a geek all my life and am quite proud of that fact. ;D
Dabbled in theater when I was in high school, played lots of Magic: The Gathering and other various games. Been an Everquest II player for about 4 years now.
I currently work for a security company that has me shuffling around to different sites in Mass, which is nice because the hours I work tend to be when no one else is at those sites, so it allows for lots of reading to get done. (My copy of Well of Ascension comes in the mail tomorrow yay!)
Other than that, not much else to me. ;)

my name is mike. I grew up in Omaha, Neb. before moving to Kansas City, MO when i was 10. Been in KC for the last 22 years, so I guess you could say KC is where I grew up. I went to University of Missouri-Kansas City for 7 1/2 years for which I received a BA in history, a law degree and way to much student loan debt. I have been practicing law for the past 6 years, mainly focusing on criminal defense.
I have been married for 5 years, no kids, yet. But we do have two cats (Cleo and Shiva) and a very large black german shepherd named merlin; they do not get along. The phrase about herding cats being hard is very true, ask Merlin. anyway, just started to write and am starting to teach criminal justice classes at a local community college with an eye towards going back to school to get a Masters and PHD in history to become a full time professor at some point in the near future.

Plans for the future, when my wife graduates I will return to school and get my MD/PH.D, (to work for the CDC hopefully). Necroben came from looking at a Brian Lumley novel title, Necroscope. Translated I think it means Been Dead(?).

My name is Jason Bateman. No, seriously. It is. I'm turning 20 this upcoming weekend, so that's a big moment... I guess?
Currently, I'm living in Seattle, and life has been a little on the rough side for me. I dropped out of High School a few years ago and recently I've tried going to community-college but lacked the motivation to really put in the effort and time. Realizing that college isn't for me, at least in this point of my life, has been a hard thing to come to terms with because it feels as though everyone else I know goes to a college. Or has graduated from one. While I failed history and math with flying colors, my English class was a joy, and I made a few friends that I hope don't fall off the radar because of my recent move (Back to Seattle, the college I attended was in Colorado and that's a long story unto itself).
Not always a fan of reading, the whole thing seemed boring when I had a perfectly fine video-game sitting in front of me while I sat there transfixed on the pixels jumping around the screen, but around a year ago I began finding books that interested me. I reread Lord of the Rings and found it to be much more enjoyable this read through (reading it in sixth grade shouldn't count, I suppose), and I followed a friends advice to get into the Wheel of Time series. Man, have I been missing out or what? From there I've read a few of Mr. Sanderson's works and I'm having a blast just finding all of these stories that I've neglected in my youth. It's also re-sparked my passion for writing, and while I know I'm not good with all of the punctuation laws, I'll even go so far as to admit that I have some grammar issues, I just can't help but think to myself; "What have I been doing up to this point with my life? Why haven't I been doing this from the start?"
It honestly feels as if my purpose has revealed itself, and since that eureka moment I've been working my happy little self endlessly trying to get my first book done (currently 30k... it's been a tough road planning a story that's involved in a completely self-created world. I found out the hard way how hard it is. ;D). While I'm trying hard not to kid myself that this will be accepted by a publisher, as I write more and more I get more and more excited about my work. Overall it's just a great feeling to have after living nearly three years lost in the wilderness that is Loserville.
That's my long winded bio, and I hope to make friends with all of you. Should be a blast! ;)

Hi, I'm Spencer, and am currently based near Layton Utah, but plan to go to BYU provo next year. I got here from the writing prompt forum post at writing excuses, and decided to share. I like drawing comics and such, but I'm cursed with a short attention span :-\
I attended LTUE last year, so that's where I first met/heard of Brandon Sanderson and Dan and stuff (I already read Schlock Mercenary) It was fantastic :D
I usually write fantasy that's set in either modern day or post-apocalyptic, with one or two wholly original worlds floating in my head. I guess I should practice on wholly original stuff...
Currently I have two main writing projects, which unfortunately have just started. One is actually a NaNoWriMo idea that I'll edit when I'm done with it (dang no previous writing rules), and the other is a pretty solidly YA novel. I only have a couple chapters of both done :(
I have a couple original ideas in a day... if not, I can fake it easily enough.

Okay, now... I live in Spain, and I'm currently studying Medicine at University. It's a nice career, even though it does not leave me much time for other things. Anyway, I love reading! I started reading in English a handful of years ago, and now most of the English-written books I read are in its native tongue. I believe I habe become dependant to Amazon. I read a lot in Spanish too, and I can read in french, but I don't really like the language, so I try to avoid doing so.
I used to write, but recently I realized nothing I did seemed to be good enough, and I felt like I was putting myself under too much pressure, so I quit. However, U just can't stop making up stories in my head, so I believe I will eventually be at it again! I write in Spanish, mostly, I believe I've only written three or so stories in English, and two of them were shot stories. The third... well, I was 11 by then, so not sure if it counts. I liked it, though.
About the name I chosed to be in this forums... well, if any of you can read any Japanese, it's written like this: 花美 The first kanji is for "flower" and the second is for "beauty". It has nothing to do with the Japanese festivales that are, too, called "Hanami". They mean "look at flowers, are written like this: 花見, which means "look at flowers". Besides, when I made up my forum name, I didn't even know about their existence!

Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm new here, been banned once already (case of mistaken identity), and am glad to be back. Born and raised in SLC, Utah. Graduated West High School. Played baseball, scholarship, went to Utah Valley Community College. That was like the third name I'm aware of, has probably changed again by now. It's up there in Orem over by all you BYUers. Then moved to Colorado-U of Colorado. I'm an editor for a company named Caption Colorado out here. I edit financial calls for Fortune 500 firms. Really not all that, just have 4 hours to edit and turnaround a one hour call, theoretically, although most times ends up being needed in closer to 2. Thus, silly things like commas and periods and all that other punctuation stuff kinda gets left by the wayside more often than not.
Found out about BS when I heard he was finishing WoT although had pretty much become disenfranchised with it. Still haven't started Knife of Dreams and bought it when it came out. Read Elantris and then MB and was hooked. Guess I'll finish the old WoT after all. My children like the Alcatraz books too.

I am from Orem, Utah, but I am currently living in College Park, Maryland, where I am finishing up my Ph.D. in physics at the University of Maryland. I got my BS in Physics from BYU. I must say that I just loved Mistborn 1 and 2, as well as Elantris. I really started digging into Mistborn after I started listening to "Writing Excuses", which I linked to from "Schlock Mercenary."
It's odd how things like that happen.

I'm an aspiring author and born-again RPG nerd. I live in North Ogden, UT (which is NOT slums, for those of you who think you are familiar with the Land of Og) with my loverly wife of 14 years and our wonderful and horrible (can you say dichotomy?) five children. I work as an electronics technician in Oman, which is on the eastern coast of the Saudi Arabian peninsula, for the "Great Satan" of the past eight years, Halliburton. (It's actually a great place to work, folks. Don't believe everything you hear...) I am the Dungeon Master for our D&D4E campaign, though I occasionally play Sitrik the human wizard when my oldest boy wants to run things.
I read lots, write some, and in general enjoy words. I plan to leave my lucrative but lonely job in the Middle East to become a poor educator, focusing on English and all possible uses and abuses thereof. Some day, I'll also finish my Electronics Engineering degree, but probably not any time soon, as I have to get both my teaching and English degrees first. As an aside, my career counselor at Weber State, probably Utah's WORST university, thought I was confused about what I wanted to do for a living. Can you believe it?

Hello all.
My name is Bill Giles. Bill progressed to Bilbo, which I personally pushed to Baggins when I joined Quark, BYU's science fiction and fantasy club, and created a login name for their forums. I now have a large group of friends/acquaintances who know me solely by this name. (I'm still active in the club, even though I graduated.)
I graduated in December from BYU, with a Bachelor's degree in English. I originally wanted to be an English major in high school, but not wanting to live in a cardboard box under a fire escape in a back alley, I decided to change my major to Zoology and pursue a career as a pediatrician. When I realized I wanted to work more directly with patients, I changed to pediatric nurse, and then, upon the realization that my drive was actually to work with kids, and not necessarily in medicine (I wanted to be a dad, not a nurse), I promptly changed to Statistics, because I had enjoyed the intro class. Heh. That lasted about three weeks. I then started working on a major in Sound Recording Technology and worked at university's Classical FM station for two years, but I was unable to get that major, because it required admittance to BYU's School of Music, which is ridiculously competitive. I took all of the classes, which could effectively be considered an unofficial minor in Sound Recording Technology, but ended up coming full circle and majoring in English after all.
Now I work in Provo doing research at a Public Relations firm, which represents computer connectivity companies- networking, storage, etc. Ironically, it was my three weeks as a statistics major and two semesters as a TA that pushed me over the edge in getting that job. Who knew? Either way, it's a great job that I love.
I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, but I'm currently staying in Provo for I'm not sure what reason. It's just one of those promptings that I've learned to follow.
I initially found EUOL's work at a BYU sidewalk sale, where I saw a hardback copy of Elantris for $6.00. I'd heard the book mentioned in Quark before, and so I decided to pick it up. After all, who am I to turn down a hardback fantasy novel for six bucks? I read it and was hooked. I progressed to reading everything that Brandon had written that I could get my hands on, including his blog and two different drafts of Warbreaker. (It was very interesting noting the changes between the two versions.) I'm still trying to figure out how I lucked into finding a favorite author of all time who is local.
As for ending up here, specifically, I found a link on Brandon's blog to the Q&A on Hero of Ages, which I immediately had to read after finishing the book at 2:30 a few nights ago. I didn't get to bed until 4:00. 8:30 work the next morning was not enjoyable, but it was worth it.
As for myself, I consider myself to be a true eclectic. I love books, movies, video games, board games, card games, and just about anything else that has a good story. As for genres, it's just as broad. For video games, I love platformers, RPGs, puzzle games, racing games (though I am horrendously bad at most of them, Jak X: Combat Racing being the exception), fighting games (especially the Smash Brothers franchise), RTSs and MMOs (currently WoW, though I am hoping to get into the Darkfall beta). Movies, I enjoy action, fantasy, science fiction, drama, romantic comedies, chick flicks (yes, I admit it), regular comedies, foreign... all sorts. Books include fantasy, science fiction, contemporary fiction, YA fiction, biographies, historical fiction... yeah.
Anyway, I've been very impressed with the level of discussion I've seen on here, and I'm looking forward to reading more and adding my own comments.

My name is Mark Laird. I live in the Provo/Orem area with my wife and three children. I attended BYU before the Y2K scare, and came out with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science. I work for a local technology company doing data warehousing. It involves lots of database and reporting work, which is about as exciting as it sounds.
I spend my precious moments of free time playing computer and board games, reading, playing racquetball, and keeping my children from driving my wife completely crazy. I also have secret aspirations to be a writer and a magician. No, not the kind in the fantasy novels. The kind you see at children's birthday parties. I may be a little crazy, but I'm not delusional. Yet.
I found references to this site from both Brandon Sanderson's web site and the Writing Excuses web site. I'm delighted to have found a group of kindred spirits, and look forward to another online activity which can fill my time when I'm supposed to be doing something productive.

Names AJ, but on the Online Communtiy I'm either thud(1) or Grand Master AJ. You can refer to me as 1 of those 3, or you can give me a new nickname, I've had plenty.

I began reading the Mistborn series because my older brother and I bounce books back and forth and he lent me the Mistborn series to read. Hello everyone, my name is Legacyblade. I'm not quite sure how you introduce yourself on a writing forum (on game making forums, you just say what you're good at), so I'll take a stab at it.
My name is Spencer Conrad, and I live in Cedar City Utah. I've been writing since I was 11, but still haven't gotten anything published. Until the past couple of years, I could never continue a project for very long. True, one story was about 200,000 words, and nowhere near getting to the main plot, but that one didn't count, as a great deal of that was me describing what things looked like (what can I say, I used to read a lot of charles dicken's writings, XD). I'm getting better at sticking with a project, and I hope to publish my current book when it's finished.
True, It has many of the same elements from my first few stories, but they've been killed, dissected, shredded apart, and changed so much that they in no way resemble my old little darlings. I hope that this forum will help give me some direction in areas that I'm not sure about.
Anyways, I found this site on writingexcuses.com and brandon sanderson's site. I decided I needed a community of writers for help, since I'm finally getting around to actually writing ONE story. I really have enjoyed what I've learned lurking the forums, and can't wait to participate in discussions!

I'm Kendra Wilson. I'm 21, and I'm from Twin Falls, Idaho, currently going to school at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg (Idaho, obviously). I'm a senior, and my major is English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. If you couldn't tell by the major, or the emphasis, I love writing. I also love reading. Brandon/EUOL's pretty much my favorite author right now. His books are pretty sweet.
I've been writing for quite a while. Probably since I was about 12 or 13, although my writing back then was really lame (I read some of it with one of my friends not too long ago, and we were laughing pretty hard the whole way through). Fortunately, it has improved tremendously (I think). I write predominantly fantasy....I also read mostly fantasy, so...yeah.
Other things about me: I love music. To death. I honestly don't think I could live without music. Fav bands include Jimmy Eat World, Making April, Collective Soul, Guster, Secondhand Serenade, and Straylight Run....but there's a lot more. Besides listening to music, though, I enjoy singing, and I adore playing the piano. Pounding out Pirates of the Caribbean or Lord of the Rings music is fun (and that's exactly what I do--pound...).
Random facts about me: I've been hit by 3 cars in my life. Two when I was barely 3. The last when I was 18 (less than a month before I graduated from high school). All 3 are fairly interesting stories which I have no problem discussing, should you care to learn more....I'm kind of crazy. Not really literally, but sometimes it seems like I am. One of my friends once referred to me as being quiet, meek, and psycho...and the first two were only first impressions, so I guess that means that I'm truly psycho underneath my seemingly introverted exterior...or something....And I'm going to Europe in May! It's a British Literary Tour through my school, and I'm super-excited for it. It shall be bundles of fun.

Hey all you awesome people! My name is Mike. I'm 31 and from Highland, Utah. I've been reading quite a few of the threads in the Brandon Sanderson section and decided I wanted to officially join these great forums.
I'm a software engineer and I love to read. Most of what I read is fantasy, so I guess that would make Fantasy my favorite genre. Some of my favorite authors have passed on (Robert Jordan, Robert Asprin ... :'() and I am really excited that Brandon Sanderson has emerged as such a brilliant young author. ;D I hope to follow his career and enjoy his books for a very long time.
I have never played any of the board games that seem to be very popular on these forums. I do love RPG games on the computer though. Who knows, maybe some day I will be brought into the fold.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed the discussions and opinions share on these forums and just want to say thanks to everyone for contributing! Maybe you'll even catch me sharing my 2 cents every now and then.

Nobody there seemed to know who I meant when I asked them about "that one guy who's finishing the Wheel of Time series." In the following 6 week period I have read all 3 Mistborn books and Elantris, and am eagerly awaiting anything else Mr. Sanderson decides to publish.
I'm a software engineer and I'm into sci-fi/fantasy books and the occasional video game although those are tough to fit in while trying to look after a 1 year old boy and still have time for my wife and I to be a couple and not just Mom and Dad. Anywho, that's me.

Hey all, been lurking on the site for some time but just made an account today!
Location is Chicago, IL, age 24. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Creative Writing major.
My writing interests are broad, from serious fiction through science fiction, horror, fantasy etc. I also read constantly and my preferences there tend to lean towards the fantastical. Some favorites of mine include those you'd expect :P Robert Jordan, George RR Martin, Raymond Feist, Ray Bradbury among many others.
Interests outside of writing include videos games (Action/Adventure, RPG, or shmups) and pretty much everything I see getting discussed here, which makes me think I'll fit in well. Hope I'm right!!

Hi, I'm Emily M. I broke my leg two weeks ago, and have just finished off the last two Mistborn books while I'm laid up. And I wanted to talk about them. And I have all this time to waste...
I'm a mom of three, I live in Utah, and I blog at segullah.org/blog as Emily M. I also edit for Segullah: Writings by Latter-day Saint Women. Right now, I write/edit personal essays. Someday I would like to delve into fiction, not sure which genre. But right now essays are all I have the attention span for.

My name is Chad Stroman. I'm 35 from Utah. Married with 3 kids. Aspiring screenwriter, avid reader, and consumate time waster (I should fit right in then). I spend my wasted time on the triggerstreet.com website, cougarboard.com, reading screenplays, writing script ideas, etc.
I joined because when I read books, I see them as films in my head, or how they could be adapted to film. After reading the first Mistborn book (I'm currently reading the second very slowly) and seeing how much of the action was very cinematic and divided into natural scenes, I wandered on over to Brandon's official website where reading some of his posts, it appeared he also referred to them as scenes.
As practice for myself, I've been adapting the first Mistborn book into a screenplay as well as doing so as I read the Well of Ascension also. I've been studying the craft of screenwriting for about 10 years now amateurishly (from books, other screenwriters and produced and un-produced scripts, etc.)
Obviously I don't own any rights to do so and I'm not adapting them with a full hope (although I do have a smidgen of hope) that anyone would actually read them and be interested in translating me from an "aspiring" screenwriter to an actual screenwriter, but I did have the curiosity of Mistborn's status as a cinematic commodity.
Also recently I've checked up on Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" journey to try to become a produced film adaptation and OSC's recent effort to "bridge the gap" between the novels and films by joining with Marvel in producing an "Ender's Game" comic series (with the intent to use them as a sort of "storyboard" for interested film industry producers).
So I joined with the aim to try and find out what direction Mistborn is going now that I presume the Novel's are complete.
Are the rights/option to a film adaptation owned by anyone? If they are what work is being done? What about a Comic Book adaptation?
Basically what is the future of Mistborn?
I hope to find answers to those questions perhaps if I'm lucky.

Hello, I am new here. I am also new to reading Brandon Sanderson's books. I so far have ready the first half of The Final Empire and am hooked. I started to be interested in his work when it was announced he was going to write the final edition to the Wheel Of Time. I look forward to reading more of his works.
Anyway, I am currently writing my own series and hope to get published within the next couple years *crosses finders*. Have been working on these two books for a few years now and am close to being done.

Yo, the name is Stone Sanchez. I'm a Musician as well as a petty wanna be writer. I've been working on my writing for about 5 years now, and just started writing my first serise. I have hopes of one day being a published author, but I don't think I'll ever be a working one.
At the moment, most of my writing is done online though script role playing, or some other vague and obscure form. I'm 17 years old, attend a night school and so I have tons of countless hours during the day because I have nothing to do except wait for the oncoming sunday. Umm, I guess you can say my "job" is being a musician, since that's what I do. I play the drums for LifePoint Church, and I also play at weddings, and any other event people like to blow cash at.
A little about me? Well, I grew up for 5 years, then read the serise that changed my life: The Chronicles of Narnia. Weird? Not near enough. I spent the younger years of my life reading though anything I could get my hands on, gathering near enough unpracticle knowledge to fill a librarys worth of information. When I was 12 I turned my half baked mind towards writing instead of reading.
I'm not particularly anti-social, but I am a little picky about who I talk to. I love writing, and everything about it, and I also love music. My styles are Jazz, Classical, and Fusion. I've lead a pretty good life up till now. Never had any hardships, don't have to worry about money, and basically don't worry about anything. Lackluster, right? Well, that's all I have to say about me.
Oh--Sorry about that. I found this site on Brandon Sandersons Site. I heard he would be the one that would be finishing up the Wheel of Time books and I wanted to see what kind of author he was. I currently live in the state of MD, and was introduced to Brandons' work through my older brother (he's a huge Robert Jordan fan). I have read all three of the Mistborn books, and I love all of them. I recently started reading Warbreaker, and can not wait to finish it. I am an aspiring writer, and have been for some time. I work as a developer for a company that will cease to exist this year (acquired), but they're paying me pretty well to hang around until then. I've been gaming for dang near forever (not sure what the language rules are quite yet.) and make a habit of listening to much too much house music and much too high of a volume.

Hello everyone, my name is Rob. I was born, raised, and currently live, in Los Angeles. I went to school for art and graphic design, and later film, and make a living in the entertainment industry as a location sound mixer (I aimed for the stars, but sort of hit the moon instead). I've always had a passion for books, stories, and games, though I haven't pursued creating them professionally. Now I'm 35, married, and 3 weeks away from becoming a father to a little girl. Maybe it's a cliche, but impending fatherhood has made me consider many things, so I figured it's time to start stretching my creative legs and get in the game.
I just finished the first Mistborn book (and started the second) by Brandon Sanderson, and have been following his work for a few years now. It's nice to find a writer willing and able to communicate with his readers, and I have to say he's inspired me a bit to expand my world.
I'm looking for other writers to bounce ideas around with and gather feedback from, and I'd like to look into local writing groups in my area.

I started reading Brandon's books because of the Writing Excuses podcast, which I found through Howard Taylor's Schlock Mercenary. (I notice there's a forum for Howard here too.) Unfortunately, I'm not likely to start reading Dan Wells's stuff any time soon (sorry Dan; it's nothing personal. I just don't like horror). I found Schlock Mercenary through a link in the Erfworld forums at Giant in the Playground games. Though I have little interest in tabletop RPGs of any sort, The Order of the Stick and Erfworld are both excellent. I *think* I found OoTS through a link in the Ars Technica forums, where I'm known as Ryan B. Oh, and Ars? That was a link from Wes Felter's Hack the Planet blog, which is the first blog I started reading. I found that blog, I think, through a link from UserLand Software, makers of the once-great Frontier.
Don't even ask me how I found Frontier. That was, like, 12 years ago. I think.
Other interesting facts about me that nobody asked to know:
- I've been a Mac user since 1994, though a part of me died with Commodore in that year.
- I like music almost entirely too much. Right now, I'm listening to The Squirrel Nut Zippers.

My name is Jonathan and I will turn 34 three days after making this post. I live in Lexington, SC, am married, and have two young boys. I have always been an avid reader, but have just in the last two years come to grips with the reality that I am a geek and prefer SciFi/Fantasy over other genres. I've never been into RPGs or such, I just like to read a good story.
I admit to discovering Brandon Sanderson after he was chosen to finish WoT. (Please don't hold that against me!) I have purchased and read Elantris and the Mistborn Trilogy. Mr. Sanderson's writing stands just fine on its own! At this point I'm anxious to read AMoL and put the WoT series behind me. I'm not one for delving deeper into a book and discussing theory and what hidden meanings any particular author might have had on a given subject. This is something that always bothered me in my Literature classes. I would always be the one to ask, "What if the author just wanted to tell a good story and really didn't mean anything else by what he wrote?" That viewpoint may be contrary to many of the discussions on this forum, but I'll deal with that as it comes.
My other interests include Ford Mustangs and General Aviation. I would like to be a pilot someday, but I am unable anytime soon. I also recently got my hands on a new Amazon Kindle 2 and encourage any authors out there to work with their publishers to get their work availabe in e-book formats. I travel quite a bit for my employer and carrying books can be cumbersome and expensive!
I hope I'll be a good fit for this forum.

I don't usually participate in formal introduction threads but since this forum seems to be notably mature and sane, I suppose I shall follow the guidelines for once. :B
I go by the name of Laura Organa Solo. I am -- surprise -- a nerd. I love science fiction, fantasy, older horror fiction (Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, that sort of thing), video games, Neo-Victorian stuff, cosplay, Japanese rock music, Japanese pop culture, and Japanese historical fiction (I'm a fan of the Heian and sengoku/warring states era). I find internet culture/phenomena fascinating for the same reason people stare at car accidents and participate in its seedy underbelly against my better judgment. And I love listening to music.
I dabble in Legend of the Five Rings CCG and RPG, I have a passing interest in a variety of tabletop RPGs, and a love for a couple of the sub-genre World of Darkness games that no one ever cared about (Kindred of the East and Demon: The Fallen).
Yes. Incredibly nerdy. I hit most of the bases except for miniatures and LARPing. Thankfully I am married to a fellow nerd who shares most of my interests.
My "job" at the moment consists of wrangling excitable fangirls on two fairly populous J Rock fan communities. I am desperate for a career in editing and publishing (I'm not a very good writer so I'm happy to edit and proof other people's stuff) but I don't have much going for me at the moment.
TL;DR MOVING ON
I first found out about Brandon Sanderson when a friend from my tabletop gaming group insisted I read the freshly-printed Elantris (*whines about the lack of sequel*). I fell in love with its trope-free, unorthodox take on the fantasy genre and recommended it to everyone I could. I was ecstatic when I heard Sanderson would be carrying the torch for Wheel of Time, a series which I have a love/hate relationship with.
When I lost my job and could no longer afford to troll bookstores regularly, I got out of the loop on things and didn't hear about the Mistborn series till recently. A friend loaned me the first book and I became absolutely enamored with the series and how it completely ignores so many overused fantasy tropes and stereotypes. I love the pseudo-industrial revolution setting, I love the "magic" system, I love how it handles the romance (putting it in the backseat, basically). I wish I could get everyone to read it.
So I am here to lurk and perhaps participate in discussion on the matter of this series, and perhaps Elantris as well. I will try not to beg everyone to give my favorite musicians a chance, even though they are awesome and you don't know what you're missing.

Hello all. My name is Ellen. I'm 17 and I live in Arkansas.
One of my friends let me borrow Elantris a while ago and I liked it a lot. Then a few months ago I was in a bookstore looking for some new books to read and saw the Mistborn books with Elantris. I remembered that I had liked Elantris, so I got the first Mistborn and loved it. I got the rest of the trilogy, found Brandon Sanderson's website, which led me to Writing Excuses, which led me here. I haven't really read any of Howard Taylor's or Dan Wells's work, but I'd like to some time. I'll get to it eventually.
I really love to read. Mostly I read fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm open to other genres too. I'd like to write books as a career, but I realize that is hard to do. So, I'd like to be a copy editor of some sort and write when I can, which is probably not much of a plan, but it's what I've got so far.
I like anime, music, soccer, tennis, cats, swimming, kayaking, and piano.

I came to this forum (as many people these last months, it seems) when I finished all the books by Brandon Sanderson I could buy, borrow or download from his kind webpage.
I still name myself a RPGamer, although it's hard to play now, even being married to another RPGamer and bookadict. Our income goes to rent, books and bookshelves, mainly ;D
We have Xbox and Wii and DS and a good Pc, but it's not time for videogames (they are about 50% more expensive here in Europe than in the US, soooooo :-\ )
Books are even more expensive here in Spain (WoT cost about 400% than Tor's paperbacks) but.... we have internet, Visa and a good english, so we won't be starving for a while ;)

To date I have read Elantris, Mistborn: The Final Empire, and Mistborn: The Well of Ascension. I am planning on purchasing Mistborn: Hero of Ages as soon as I receive my next paycheck, which should be this Friday :D.
I love to read fantasy novels, and have found Mr. Sanderson's works to be thoroughly enjoyable.

My name is Tyler Hall, im 24 years old and from Perth, Western Australia. I was a Police Officer for 5 years (recently resigned), and I currently study Commerce at Murdoch University. When I have made enough money, I will retire early and begin my writing. I have great idea's, and think of myself as a 'dreamer'.
I have spent thousands of $$$ on Fantasy books over the last 7 or 8 years, with my favourite authors being Terry Brooks, Brian Aldiss, Mark J. Ferrari, Patrick Rothfuss, Raymond Feist, David and Leigh Eddings and ofcouse Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan.
"The Name of the Wind" - Patrick Rothfuss is probably the best novel I have ever read, and recommend it to everyone.
I have a long term girlfriend, whom I own a house with, and we have a 4month old puppy called Poppy. They are both my world.
From looking around these forums, I think i'll be carefully watching the Wheel of Time threads, and try to offer my opinions in the nicest way I can. I dislike fools who have a go at other people's opinions, and will put them in their place quite thoroughly if required.

My name is Tyson Cantrell, I am 2 weeks away from turning 19 studying Graphic Design at Brigham Young University.
I was introduced to Brandon Sanderson's work about 3 years ago by one of my best friends but everytime I went to my library his book "Elantris" was checked out! I kept half-heartedly checking back and sort of forgot about it until a little under a year ago when I needed to read another 200 pages or so for my English class. After recently hearing that Brandon Sanderson would be finishing one of my favorite series' (Wheel of Time) I decided to take another chance with Elantris. I went to the library and it was, as usual, checked out. But I decided to do the unthinkable and put it on hold! The que was rather long and I had to read another book to fulfill my class assignment, but I finally got my hands on "Elantris" halfway through the summer and fell in love with it!
I don't know how long it took me to finish the book, but I remember spending several long hours into the night completely captivated by it. When I finished the book, I was left bitterly hungry for more. Being a person with a highly addictive personality, I checked Brandon's website and found information regarding a rather unique sounding series he described as a "hybrid kung-fu heist." Surely this "Mistborn" could not top Elantris, but I decided to give it a shot anyone. It blew my mind.
Never before have I been so utterly enthralled with a book. I basically gorged on Brandon's work. Every page was another bite of delicious action, mystery and characterization. I finished the Mistborn series about two months ago and after highly charming persuasion (which I'm sure Breeze would be proud of!) I have succeeded in captivating the rest of my family and a few friends in Brandon's work.
Mistborn has easily become one of my favorite trilogies of all time and I eagerly await more work from Brandon Sanderson! And though I will be absent from the world of literature for the next two years as I prepare to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, you better believe A Memory of Light will be the first book that I pick up when I get home!

I am Lauren and I live in St George but, grew up in good ole California. I like to write, though I don't do it as much as I should. I also am an avid reader, the Mistborn trilogy being one of my favorites ever. I'm always trying to improve and get feedback and assistance in writing and the like so, here I am.
I did participate in NaNoWriMo 2008 and won. That was the first time I completed a manuscript I started. It was quite rewarding and encouraging to continue writing and finishing something else! And that's about all I feel like saying. :D

Hello, I'm Brice, from France (yup a true smelly cheese eater :p). I'm 31 years old and work as a freelance webdesigner in the South West of France, close to the Pyrénées.
I discovered Elantris and the Mistborn trilogy after I read on Dragonmount that Brandon was going to finish the WOT cycle. It took me maybe 3-4 days to read Elantris, I found myself unable to lie the book down even after 4 am every night till I finished it. I was so pleased with it that I bought Mistborn books 1 and 2 (Tor publishing) right after. After about 3 chapters of reading Mistborn, I thought to myself "what a great universe to set up a RPG!" And then I found out it was going to be released sometime this year. I can't wait !
Brandon, I must congratulate you for your work. And I can only acknowledge the wisdom of R. Jordan's widow for choosing you to complete WOT. Your stories are intense, original and have this weird feeling that makes me read till I just fall asleep in my chair ;D
Right now, I finished The Well Of Ascension about 2 days ago and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the Hero of the Ages on april 29th (by Tor).

My name is Franklin, although I love experimenting with pseudonyms. I'm a native of Oxnard, California, and am the age Kurt Cobain would be if he were still alive. ;P I found my way here from Brandon's site via WoT.
I am divorced which ended my career as a professional clergyman. My education is from Evangel University and AGTS. My divorce prevented me from completing grad school, and I am in the process of changing careers to become a novelist.
I've worked in private security for the US Navy (no not a mall cop) :P and I have been a private software developer sub-contracting projects for a variety of clients from a major insurance underwriter to a consumer intelligence firm.
At one time I was a GM who juggled three campaigns and wrote all my own modules. I love video games, particularly POV games, but I hate developers who improve their games mechanics by depending on more complicated hardware, rather than streamlining the software side. Code bloat is just a means to sell unneeded gizmos. The last game to really get a hold on me was Hitman 2. The only war hammer I enjoyed was Space Marine. (okay rotate 20deg and move 6 cm I fire at your APC!)
At present I have not published any fiction, but I am hopeful.

Hi my name is Laura Ramsay and I live in Glasgow Scotland. I'm 26, married and have 3 daughters. I'm currently a full time mum but going back to college to study complementary therapy.
I absolutely love reading and found my way here after seeing mention of it on Brandon's site. My favourite genre at the moment is fantasy, I can't get enough of it and am always on the look out for recommendations. I love music although my favourite is rock/metal, especially battle metal. I love listening to battle metal while reading fantasy and trying to match it to the story.
I'm not one for posting much but love reading the post as they can give me such an insight to the stories I read, allowing me to look at the characters and plots from new angles or just helping me to understand something that didn't make sense.

My name is Ana, 24 year old. I'm Spanish (I wonder if there are any other people from my country around here), so don't hesitate to correct me if I make any mistake writing in English.
I'm studying architecture (almost finished! I promise! :D), I like reading, Japanese animation and manga... and WWW, I love being able to communicate with people all around the world, internet is the best ever!
I discovered Mistborn some months ago (I use to agree with NOVA's publisher, Miquel Barceló, when he talks about a book he likes... and he was talking wonders about Brandon Sanderson not being the typical fantasy writer, so I bought the book) and I loved it!
Then I jumped to Elantris, which was previously edited by the same publisher and I found its characters as alive as Mistborn ones, and the plot being as enjoyable as the other series but at the same time being completely different. I laughed, cried and enjoyed myself like crazy, which is what I want from a book, so now Brandon Sanderson is one of my top favourite writers along with Bujold.
Forgive me if the comparison is not welcome, I say it for the best: Sanderson and Bujold both have an incredible ability of writting about complex political intrigues while they present strong and believable characters. I feel they are part of a new wave of fantasy (/SF) authors with a different approach to the subject, and hope we can read more like this in the future. Not so "good vs evil+initiating journey" for a change, eh?

My name is K. D. McCallister and I live in Fort Worth, TX, the whereabouts I've lived for most of my God fearing life with the exception of my mission to the Pacific Northwest (where it rained on me an awful lot) and a brief stay in Rexburg, ID as a student at RICKS (where no Texan has any right to be given the freezing 20 below temps).
I currently work in the Science and Research field, while pursuing a History degree in the hours between work. I just moved into my first home and am engaged to be married by the end of the year if we can get the preparations taken care of by then. When I'm not at work, studying, moving or working on wedding plans I love to read, play a video game or two, watch/play sports (need some racquetball time!) and spend time with family, friends and my 2 Corgi's.
I hate to admit it but I'm fairly new to Brandon Sanderson's work, though Elantris should be mine by week's end and I've just recently started on Warbreaker (which is going to be a fun ride, I can tell). We all have to start somewhere, I suppose, and I can't wait to see where Sanderson's books take me. I'm sure I'll have more than a few things to talk about as I devour these and begin the Mistborn trilogy.

My real first name is Kristina. I am a quarter century old this month. I am married (going on three years!) but no kids yet. I graduated from Harding University with a Bachelor's in Music- Vocal. I teach a few private lessons on the side.
My current interests are: paying the bills (something which gets increasingly difficult), and working on several stories. Up to now, I've mostly posted in the RE forum, but occasionally in Everything Else and Books as well.
I found this site after finding the Writing Excuses Podcast- specifically a mention of the Reading Excuses writing group here, and several Google searches. I haven't found a good writing group in my area, and I knew I needed some good feedback on what I've been writing if I hope to improve. Which I do. :) And I have!- gotten good feedback, that is.
I don't do RPGs, and I rarely play anything other than simple computer games and (recently) WOW. I haven't read anything by Brandon S. other than Warbreaker (please don't hate me- I can't afford new books right now, and Warbreaker was available online). I really liked it, though! I quit Wheel of Time after book 2- there's only so much epic, angsty, hurry-up-to-the-final-not-so-final-battle plot I can handle, and I very quickly burned out, there.
I work hard when I'm at work. At home, I'm incredibly lazy. It seems that impressing other people is my main motivation when it comes to cleaning! ::)

My name is Kerry, and I found this forum through Brandon Sanderson's website. I'm a huge fan of fantasy, manga, tokusatsu, and anything having to do with language and foreign cultures. I'm also an aspiring author, but currently work is getting in the way of that.
I graduated from St. Petersburg College with an Associate of Arts degree and am currently working full-time as a preschool teacher and a martial arts instructor. I plan on transferring to the University of Florida soon to pursue a Bachelor's in Linguistics and am very much looking forward to going back to school. I'm 25, and slowly going to school at the local community college, hopefully trying to get a degree in computer science and/or graphic design.

My name is Caitrin and I'm 22 years old living with my Mom in Nevada. I work part-time at Old Navy but I'm looking to get a full-time job. I write sometimes but I need to work on the discipline side of it, I'm much more of an idea's person so it's easy to write a little bit about one idea but my mind jumps to the next before I do anything worthwhile with it. I'm a WIP :P
I found the forums via the Writing Excuses podcast and Brandon's website. I'm currently waiting for Warbreaker to arrive in my mailbox :D I tend to read mostly fantasy with single authors sometimes being the exception (like James Patterson or Tom Clancy, etc) while I tend to watch mostly sci-fi (my favorite show is Battlestar Galactica <3).
I belong to a couple internet forums based on various books (such as tarvalon.net / Wheel of Time) and am saving up to attend DragonCon for the second time! I'm so excited!
I love music and tend to listen to everything. I also usually like anything I see, I need to work on that critic side of myself I suppose :P

Unlike some people here, I didn't go to BYU. I can, however, spell it correctly 9 out of 10 times. I'm proud of that.
I don't own a lasergun but I do own a '85 Dodge PowerRam 250. I once ate 3 packets of Domino's pepper packages. I'm one of those guys who hits people with foam covered sticks (a member of Belegarth Medieval Combat Society). I never went to college or univerity but I do have 3 legitimately earned degrees (message me if you really care to know more). I have 3 kids that I hope will become 3 adults that live on their own. I'm married to a woman (I'm a man). I own all the seasons of Seinfeld and I recently upgraded my Cable account so I could watch the 2nd season of Trueblood. I've only played Warhammer 40k once but I own and have read over 40 40k novels (and a bunch of 30k novels). I can see a cherry tree from where I'm sitting.

Ok, I have been lurking here for a few months now, and decided to finally start posting something. I decided I should get this out of the way first.
My name is Ricky and I am 30 years old. I currently live in a small town in Arkansas that barely registers on a map. I am married with three boys and I do web design work while working retail. Like so many here I am a writer, but unlike so many here I am currently unsuccessful at actually finishing anything.
I have been reading sci/fi fantasy since I was quite young, when my uncle gave me Enders Game, The Hobbit, and the first Dragonlance Chronicles book for Christmas. I like to read other generes as well and count myself as a rather large Stephen King fan. As of recently I also consider myself a Brandon Sanderson fan. I am a movie buff and I can kick some serious tail at movie trivia style games. I haven't done too much D&Ding, (never been around really anyone else that played, IT WAS EVIL (As my mother and others used to say)), I love video games and love being able to share them with my boys now.
I found this site by way of The Wheel Of Time, which I have been reading since I picked up The Dragon Reborn in the new releases section at the library. That was many, many years ago, and when I found out Brandon or EUOL as he is known here was finishing the series I had to check him out. Read Elantris, was blown away, checked out his site, found Writing Execuses, Read Mistborn, again blown away and fell in love with Vin, and wound up here.
Like I said I have been lurking for a while. I just read Blacker Darkness BTW, and thought it was nearly on par with anything by Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett.

It's a shortening of Erina - a nickname I choose after my first RPG character. I gave her a name made from some random string of letters that sounded nice. We didn't even finish that session, but I liked the name anyway.

I live in Poland (and I am unfortunately the Her... not so fluent in English as I would like to), I'm 26, and married. :-) We both like Brandon Sanderson's books, so my husband will probably register here too, sometime.

I've heard about Brandon Sanderson from a friend, who is waiting for last WoT book (I have stopped following the series some years ago, it got too long for me). I've read Mistborn trilogy and Warbreaker, both are great.

I am seventeen years old, male, and LDS. I got wind of the TWG through Brandon Sanderson's web page (he goes by EUOL around here, right?). I am a fan of his books, as I have read Mistborn 1-3 and Warbreaker. All four were excellent reads. (i have also read Alcatraz 1-2. Very funny!)

I am an engineer / mathematician who likes rockets and books. It is not too much of a stretch to think that I might like books about rockets. Indeed I do.
I am writing a book, by which I mean that I am hacking at my keyboard, which is my way of saying I should be hacking on my keyboard, therefore implying that I am not really hacking and thus not really writing a book.

My name is Joshua Gardynik (go ahead, look it up... you'll find little for good reason). I've been lurking on this board for some time now, but finally decided I could be a valuable member to some society. I'm 25 (almost 26 now), graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Information Systems from Utah State University. I have a degree that doesn't even exist anymore. Yay!
I'm still living in Logan, Utah, pretending to work and pretending to write at the same time (you'd be surprised how much work it is pretending to get so much done). I'm a web developer by trade, although keeping my clients' computers running takes more of my time than I'd like.
I'll probably spend the bulk of my time on Brandon Sanderson's little corner of this site, although I do drag out the dotted fatespinners and roleplay from time to time (if you're in the Logan area and interested, PLEASE let me know--good players are hard to come by). I also used to play Magic: The Gathering, but my decks have long since been banned from tournaments in th e name of planned obsolescence.
Oh yeah, and I ramble, but this much should be obvious by now.

Hello everyone! After stumbling across this site while looking for more info on the amazing works of Brandon Sanderson The Awesome, I quickly decided that I was obliged to register :). I've actually been visiting here for a few days now, but I figured that it'd more awesome to hold off on registering until January first, so that I could start my official time here with the advent of the new year :P.
My real name is Michael, and I live in the city of Bothell in Washington State. I'm currently 19 years of age. My present occupation is being a student at the University Of Washington, where I'm studying physics, mathematics, and computer sciences/programming. In my horribly limited spare time I love reading works in or on sci-fi, fantasy, philosophy, religion, logic, and strategy (among other genres), going for walks all over the place, talking with my friends and family about anything that catches our interest, and pondering whatever topics come to mind. The name of this account is derived from my account name on FunOrb (a worthy gaming site, for anyone interested ;)), which for convoluted reasons is the number triad 13 19 16. While I could change it there, I don't really want to, since it's reasonably well-known by now, but I'm just fine with taking this one instead on every new site I register for :P.

My name is Jason Branch. I'm an emergency medicine resident (physician) in Saginaw, Michigan.
I'm originally from Phoenix and went to Arizona State where I graduated with a bachelor's in psychology. I went to medical school at the University of Arizona. The most exciting thing happening in my life right now is that I'm done with training in 6 months and I've signed a contract for a job in Arizona (Michigan winters get old really fast).
I'm married, with 4 kiddos so far. Even though I didn't go to BYU, I am LDS and served a mission in North Carolina.
I waste time playing video games, my favorites being the Jedi Knight series, the Unreal Tournament series, Far Cry, and Battle for Middle Earth 2. I love to read and just got a Kindle for Christmas. My tastes are pretty eclectic, but when I'm reading for fun its usually fiction. I'm currently reading the last Mistborn novel.
I also love to write, and have managed to finish two novels, both of which have been published multiple times in both my night and waking dreams.

Hi everyone. My name is Jacob. I've historically only posted at IGN, but heck, no reason not to branch out a bit.
I found this site through Brandon Sanderson's website. I'm 28, and just received my Bachelors in Religious Studies from UNC Charlotte. I in a year or so, I'm planning on getting a graduate degree in Ancient Near East studies .
I constantly read science fiction and fantasy. Right now I'm on a fantasy kick, though I'll probably switch back to sci-for awhile fairly soon. I've recently (very recently) started work on my own novel. I wrote like a madman in high school; sadly, all of that died with my old 486. Fortunately, all of it was probably pretty horrible. ;) So we'll see how well I do now.
I like anime, though I haven't watched much lately, and just recently started playing D&D (3.5e) with some friends. It's surprisingly fun. Well, perhaps not that surprisingly, considering how many people enjoy it. I love gadgets and videogames, and wish I had more money to waste on them.
Seems like a lot of people here are LDS, which is actually a religion I don't know that much about. I'd call myself a Christian, but I'm about as non-hardcore as you can get, theologically. Is Christian humanist even a thing? :P

My name is Nadine (yes that's the real one too). I'm 41 (already!) and French. I'm living in the French alps practically on the Swiss border. I've lived there all my life and seldom had travelled very far from it.
I've got a Graphist assistant formation but haven't much worked into that world, my best experience being working for a worldwide organisation based in geneva for several years a long time ago, and I'm currently out of job (since a few days) so with quite some free time on my hands.
I mainly 'discovered' fantasy through Robin Hobb's first trilogy, The Farseer Trilogy. I met her at several occasions when she came to France and am still 'linked' to a lot of her fans, international or french as most of them became very good friends.
My first encounter of Brandon's books was with Mistborn, all because it had earned a Robin Hobb very warm praise, and this is something I never regretted, Brandon being a truly fantastic author (but I guess you already know that) and I have now read 'most' of his books, the latest being the (free) Warbreaker one.
I'm interested in way too many things to quote them all, but mostly, art, photo, writing and movies and tvshows. (I'm actually watching the Doctor Who new series.)
I hope to make lots of new friends here and learn a lot of new things also.
I'm also very fond with using smileys, I know it can be irritating to some and I apologize but I just can't help it. I can restrain a bit though, if that can help, I'm also talking a bit too much and also thinking a bit too much too. Way too much for a woman. lol. ;)

Hi! My name is Melissa; my e-friends know me as ella144. I'm a WoT fan, which led me to EUOL and his illustrious writings, which led me here. I joined because I love to waste time on the Internet, and so this would seem to be my natural habitat.
I love books and movies, and recently discovered graphic novels. (Alan Moore, where have you been all my life?) I have played an occasional RPG, but prefer video games. Fun fact: I do not watch TV and have little to no knowledge of any show that has aired since sometime around the turn of the century. (Speak not of LOST to me, for I will look at you blankly and say "Huh?")
My history degree turned out to be mostly useless, so by day I'm a Business Manager in a university department (Someone told them I was good with money and can do math. Shh, don't tell them the truth. I need the money.), and by night I'm a writer. I'm married with three kids and a cat, and currently working on my "I Survived Living With A Teenage Boy" badge.

My name is K. McCallister, I hail from Texas and work in the Science and Research field while working towards my History BA (fortunately I'm on the downward slope). I've been a veracious reader all my life, and somehow my interest in reading only seems to grow that much more with each passing year. And while I prefer non-fiction and history the most, I've always had a real soft spot for good fantasy & sci-fi when I could find it, be it in movies, comics, or novels.
My all-time favorite fantasy/sci-fi writers have tended to remain George MacDonald, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien, but a few more recent favorites include G.R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Karen Traviss, Brandon Sanderson (why I'm here) and I find that I'm really enjoying the work of Kristine Kathryn Rusch in her 'Diving' universe in the last month or so. But better stop while I'm ahead.
The Firstborn short story was my first introduction to Brandon Sanderson's work, followed by Elantris which I'm currently enjoying in audio book format on my long commutes to work each day. The book has been an awful lot of fun, and I've already got Warbreaker queued up and ready to go once I finish (which is good because I hear we've got a real epic in The Way of Kings that I'll need to be ready for come August).

I just returned from the Superstars Writing Seminar [http://www.superstarswritingseminars.com], with Brandon Sanderson, Kevin J. Anderson, David Wolverton,/Farland Eric Flint, and Rebecca Moesta. It was really great.
I found this site originally while checking out various connected sites from BYU, and of course since reading Brandon Sanderson's novels he's mentioned this place a few times –don't remember where or in what though.
I work a lot, I like RPG's, but don't play them anymore (I use that time to write), and live in Florida, which is like living in a washing machine that's stuck on the rinse and dry cycle all the time –its really rainy, and then the sun comes out, and then it drenches you all over again the same day.

I'm Aly. I'll be 24 in a couple of weeks and live in North Carolina. I have a BS in Biology but unfortunately have yet to find a job in my field. So I write. I am in the process of writing a humorous fantasy novel and hope for it to be published eventually, but first I have to finish the thing. (I'm one of those writers with several half-finished novels under her belt, victims of over-editing.) I have high hopes for the current project however.
I found this site by stumbling across the Writing Excuses podcast (through itunes, if I remember correctly), and noting that one of the podcasters was Brandon Sanderson, a name I'd only heard before in conjunction with WoT. (I've just embarked on a reread of the series in order to get the full effect of aMoL.) And many giggles later, I've decided to poke around the site to see what I can find.

Hobbies? Reading, music, games (mostly RPG, or first person shooter when I'm feeling mindless).. basically the more anti-social activities which give one a wan complexion and a shy attitude. But when you're living in one of the most direly drear contries of the world, these things tend to happen. I'd probably accept Britians lack of excitment and culture if I was originally born here. Sunny South Africa was my home for 6 years til we migrated.
I'm also a budding writer, With many idea's but no knowledge on how to expand on them really. It's frustrating. :)

I attended, though did not graduate from, the University of Nevada, Reno. I majored in Anthropology, and minored in History. I also took a number of courses in Political Science, English and Philosophy. I still read widely in these fields.

I found Brandon Sanderson through his work completing the legacy of Robert Jordan, and decided to read his original stuff. After reading Mistborn I spent several days trying to get anyone who would to read the series. At one point I pushed the box set into a friends hand and said, "Here, read this, or I'll never speak to you again." I'm currently reading Elantris.
I'm most definitely a gamer. I played the Star Wars CCG through High School. I now enjoy playing Magic on a fairly regular basis. I play two MMORPG's. Right now, they are War Craft, and Lord of the Rings Online. I also enjoy playing Settlers of Cataan, and any variant of Risk ever made.
I have written stories as long as I can remember. I'm hoping to pick up some tips from the writers in this forum. Overall, this seems like a good place to e-hang.

Anyways, my real name happens to be Justin. Though in most areas of cyberspace, I'm also aptly titled "fantastyfreak," with the additional "t" in fantasty to make me a nonconformist. Because nearly ever person with an ounce of brain power spells "fantasy" incorrectly for aesthetic reasons.
Enough strange humor, I am an English major and currently attending a private college to attain that degree. Additionally, I'm a book blogger and also an aspiring writing. A writer that is busy working on a novel at the moment. Though with college and book blog related activities, it's nearly impossible to accommodate writing time.
Besides these things, I'm a fervid Buffy fan, symphonic metal fan (Within Temptation!!!!),bibliophile (fantasty/scifi/ historical fiction mostly), a philosopher, an introvert, and many other wonderful things. Mostly fantasy, though, and a Star Wars novel every now and again. Also dreaming of becoming an author in the future. Been busy writing books since I was eight. Though, for now, only for myself and my closest friends to read. Sharpening my skills, working on my creativity.
I'm in my final year of studying Communication & Design and hope to find a job in marketing next year. I also love doing webdesign, which pretty much supports my studies, right now.

I love to read books, but my favorite genre is Fantasy. I started out with Terry Brooks when I was about 10 and have loved books every since. I have played the Violin on and off since the 4th grade. I listen to all genres of music but my favorite genres would have to be Hardcore, Hard Trance, Hard House, and Hardstyle.
My family has been going to BYU since it was College not University. My grandparents on my mothers side both teach at a college in Ohio. Well that is all I can really think of that is interesting.

You see, there was this enormous, thousand page book that just came out, and I felt the need to post about it. Pretty sure that I found this board because the author posts here or something like that.
I've been a pretty big fan of the fantasy and science fiction since middle school. David Eddings's Elenium was the first series that I got wrapped up in, and it's been a tale of heavy addiction since. Sometime in the middle of high school I was introduced to the Wheel of Time by some of my friends, and that in turn led to my first online board. College expanded the scope of my reading a bit, but fantasy still held the fondest place in my heart. When Knife of Dreams came out, I didn't go to class for a full week. After Jordan passed away and Brandon was announced as the man who would finish the series, I picked up the Mistborn series to see how well the Wheel of Time would be completed. I was blown away. Since then I have read through all his published works, all released annotations, and most of the deleted scenes on his site.
Aside from a voracious appetite when it comes to books, I enjoy video games (although I have to limit myself or I get addicted; four years playing World of Warcraft showed me that), brewing, and running.

Hi, I'm Liz. I've been a stay-at-home mom for three years but am about to start teaching high school math.
I went to BYU, where I actually studied and didn't spend a lot of time reading new authors. We recently moved to Arizona, where I was suddenly inundated with free time. I read the entire Schlock archives in one week, started listening to writing excuses, and have now read Brandon's and Dan's books. They're now my favorite authors...and I can't tell you how much that kills me.
If only I'd seen the light a year earlier...I might have actually met these guys at LTUE and book signings. Ah, well, life can be cruel.
I mostly write YA fantasy, and I've been working harder to polish some things up so that I can actually get published.

Hello then, everyone. I'm a virtual modeling and design student at the University of Advancing Technology Online. I am new to the works of the authors on this site, but I have a familiarity with the concepts presented in them. I was referred to this site by a mention on TVTropes regarding the Wheel of Time series continued by Brandon Sanderson. I have studied the concept of the multiverse as it pertains to story setting for a couple of years, so the "worlds that might be" naturally appealed to me. I am planning on using the multiverse idea in a short film for my final project, using a modified version I call the porous multiverse. I would love to talk with Brandon and the other authors on this site about how the multiverse affects plot and setting and how it can change the way characters develop. I look forward to getting to know the members of this site and their works better! :)

Hi. I'm a writer and homeeducator from Baltimore. Like to play guitar and sing too. I'm here because of Mr. Sanderson and Mr Wells. I've finished the rough draft of a fantasy novel and a more literary one, and have a YA witchy sort of book I need to get fixed after the first of the year. I should have been here a long time ago, but forums are one of those things I worry can become obsession for me, so kept putting it off. I'm in the process of submitting a few poems and stories to magazines. Non-writing interests include Nintendo, wrestling, and reading(though it's rather the yin to writing's yang, isn't it?).
Favorite authors are Tolkien, Lewis, Sanderson, Jordan, Eddings, Palahnuk, Faulkner and Plath. The book I've probably read the most times in my life? The Westing Game. My favorite book? Um, well, um, if forced to make a decision, I'd say Alice in Wonderland. Of the modern age? It's a toss up between Mistborn and The Eye of the World. I suck at first person shooters, but I will impress if allowed to show off with Super Mario Bros.

My name is Chloe Unrau; I'm a crazy person from Burnaby B.C. Canada. I'm 25 years old, currently unemployed, and my only passion is writing (if that's not a recipe for poverty then I don't know what is :P ). I have about ten years of experience writing original short stories and collaborative science-fan-fiction, and I'm currently working on my first novel. I have never written anything this long before, and it is a very fun challenge as I figure out my style; the style I use for short stories doesn't work :D
My favourite authors are Jack McDevitt, Brandon Sanderson, Philip Pullman, Jacqueline Carey, Patrick Rothfuss, and Ian Irvine (among others). I find when I read any book, I internally change things; setting and dialogue mostly; and frequently wince as I think about how I would change the story, the characters, etc. So I decided to write the story I wanted to read, make the characters I wanted to watch grow, and make a world that I could believe in and be excited about. Whether or not I get published, writing is my biggest passion and it's so much fun... eventually getting published and becoming a career author would be my dream come true.
I look forward to interacting with other writers on this forum and I hope to learn a lot!

Big fan of his, as well as Patrick Rothfuss, RJ's first 5 books of Wheel of Time, and Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I read much business, investing, and motivational lit as well.
I love skiing, the UFC, Xbox (Gears of War, Call of Duty mostly, with Magic: the Nerdening, uh Gathering sprinkled in), P90X, movies (Godfather 2 and Gladiator at the top of list), traveling, and real estate.

A few of my favorite authors are Robert Jordan, Mark Twain, Ray Bradbury, Shel Silverstein, William Goldman, Charlie Kaufman, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Jean Shepard, Steve Martin... wow this could go on for while, just know I left out some huge influences.
Some of my favorite films include, The Big Lebowski, The Princess Bride, Monster Squad, Toy Story, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Star Trek (JJ to the A), Black Swan (saw it last night and it is still with me), Inception, Magnolia, The Red Violin, The Bicycle Thief, City of God, Rope, Inglorious Basterds, Made, Ed Wood, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Jerk... and this list is even longer than the writer's one, and again just know, a lot of great influences are left right out.
I am a big Disney nerd. Especially Disneyland, old live-action feature films, feature length animations and the old cartoons. I am a film buff (out of the game for the last few years though due to something that would take a long time to explain). I draw and paint and make maps, and just create whenever, however, and wherever I can.
All in all my taste is very eclectic.
I am currently reading George R R Martin's A Clash of Kings and love it.

Hello all. Sam here. I live in the Atlanta area and am 41 years old. I just bought a slew of Sanderson books from B&N with a pair of Christmas gift cards so I'm getting ready for a lot of good reading. The few names that I can drop are that I met Brandon and Dan at the Decatur Book Festival in September when they were in town for DragonCon. Dan said nice things to me about my blog because I quoted one of his blog posts on mine.
My favorite authors are Brandon, Dan, Robert Jordan, Pat Rothfuss, John Scalzi, Tobias Buckell, Scott Lynch, Eoin Colfer, and Stephen Donaldson, among others. I've been pursuing writing as a hobby the last two or three years but am hoping to get more serious about it in 2011 and see if I can finish something that comes out at more than 50-55K words. I'm the perfect NaNoWriMo author, but useless (so far) for anything longer than that.
I have been listening to Writing Excuses from the beginning and finally was inspired to come post a writing prompt. I have posted a dialog exercise response on the writing prompt thread, and will try to check in with more prompts if they catch my fancy. Looking forward to it. Nice to meet you!

By trade, I'm an E-Learning Manager, which means that my writing is considered "not boring" by only a few people.
Located near Cleveland - bad weather, but the best orchestra on the planet, which IMO is a good trade-off.
Started following Brandon after picking up Mistborn 1 at the library. Kind of wish he wasn't doing WoT so we could have more of hiw own stuff, but it's all good.
I don't always find that guessing what will happen increases my enjoyment of a book, so usually I avoid that by reading fast. But with the huge gap between these SA books - well, one has to keep one's mind busy...

I'm not fond of my own introductions, so I'll keep it brief. Student in university studying pharmacology, finished reading the Mistborn trilogy and was thoroughly impressed.
I'm also a bit of a aspiring writer, though reality seems to be crushing me beneath it's unbelievable weight. A far-off dream, but better to have one, yeah?

My name is John. I have degrees from Harding University and UALR. My education includes a BS in Chemistry, M.Ed. in Secondary Biology Education, and MA in Chemistry. I currently teach high school chemistry. I often work in the summers for one of my former professors doing things such as radio-tracking snakes for ecological studies. I have been published in Toxicology Letters and Herpetological Review. However, I do not consider myself a writer. I may one day become one, but only if I get around to ending my membership in Procrastinate Now. For now I am a nitpicker and have, at times, put that to constructive use as one of several proofreaders for GURPS books authored by one of my friends.
My preferred method of relaxation is reading. I prefer really well-written science fiction. Sadly, such science fiction is rather hard to find. For me, even a well-written novel is easily ruined when the author describes a person with a hole in their chest a meter wide, an asteroid with a core temperature of -475 Celsius, or a space craft 250,000 km long that is hiding behind a moon. Such mistakes seriously irk me due to my aforementioned nitpicking tendencies. As a result I actually read far more fantasy than I do science fiction.
Some of my favorite authors are Robert Heinlein, Charles Sheffield, David Weber, L.E. Modesitt Jr., Larry Niven (especially when teamed with Jerry Pournelle), Orson Scott Card, Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Goodkind, Piers Anthony, J.K. Rowling, Peter David, Robin Cook, Tom Clancy, and Michael Crichton.

I'm Bec. I'm from the UK, I'll be twenty in about a week and with a little luck, I'll be at university studying English Literature and Philosophy & Ethics starting September.
I like all sorts of things, but Greek, Roman and Norse mythology, folklore, politics, philosophy, reading, writing, ukulele-playing, history, classic rock and sitcoms are all major areas of interest.
I'm not sure if I stumbled onto Writing Excuses first or Brandon Sanderson's writing via Wheel of Time. The two happened more or less simultaneously, but entirely coincidentally, if I remember correctly. In any case, Brandon became one of my favourite authors after reading the Mistborn Trilogy, I really enjoyed the I Am Not A Serial Killer books by Dan Wells, and I listen to Writing Excuses on a regular basis. I don't actually write all that much because I'm a complete and utter procrastinator, but the theory of writing fascinates me.

I'm BTF, or Aly if you so choose to call me such. I'm a Michigander that is currently job-shadowing for ophthalmic assisting (goodness, I really need to start learning how to spell ophthalmic). I got directed here because of Schlock Mercenary and thought I should peruse the area.

Hello there. I'm from the Portland, OR area, but I shall be heading off to BYUI this fall. I'm majoring in Illustration, and I hpoe that I'll be able to transfer to either MICA or Kansas City Art Institute after a couple of years in Idaho. So, obviously, I love art (I have some of my pieces/sketches here (http://liltweetgal.deviantart.com/)). I'm not sure where I'll go with it after college, but I think it would be so cool to do some stuff for movies, although I don't really like doing animation.
Anyway, I'll probably be posting in most of the forums. I love to read books, video games are awesome, I've played some rpgs and I follow some webcomics and such. Oh yeah, and I'm kind of a movie snob...I don't like watching movies that are a waste of my time, but I try to be nice about it.

Hello. I live in Raleigh, NC. I am 24 years old and am still an undergraduate at NCSU. I mostly attribute this to my severe ADD. I quickly become bored with any classes I'm taking if my workload is more than two or three classes worth. My excuse to everyone else, though, is that I don't want to go into debt to pay for school, so I also work full time and go to school on the side. I am also training heavily in Brazilian Jiu-jutsu with the ultimate goal of becoming an Instructor with my own school/academy. Due to these time constraints, I am single and have been for quite some time. (I've found that it is difficult to find women who are ok with only seeing thier boyfriend one or two nights a week. ::))
I found this website searching for information on the cosmere of The Way of Kings, and so I see myself spending most of my time, for the near future, in the Brandon Sanderson section of the forums. Truthfully, I have somewhat of a timid nature and will likely spend most of my time lurking about, unless I feel I have something of significant value to contribute. On the offchance that I do contribute something to a topic, I thought it would be polite of me to at least introduce myself here. :)
